- Montbell´s U.L. Themawrap Parka is the perfect ultralight mid layer for hiking.
I am in the transition from heavy weight backpacking/hiking to ultralight backpacking/hiking.
I hike here in Scandinavia were there is a tradition to use very heavy gear, because of the cold and inclement weather.
I am trying to change the tradition, and still be safe and comfortable.

Hans, I love my UL Thermawrap Parka. It’s an excellent active layer, as you were getting at in this review. When it comes time to replace I may order a parka with kangaroo pouch from Nunatak or Enlightened Equipment.

Hi Therflyerpr it’s 4 years old and I’m still using it… the insulation is slowly degrading, I try to avoid using the jacket when I’m in a car - it’s when the insulation is compressed you have the problem.
Also I don’t use the jacket for everyday use, for it to last longer 🧥😊
Hans - love your reviews. Do you purchase from Montbell Europe website? Sizing measurements are different from US site. I'm between sizes. I'm a 42" chest ,33 waist, 34 inch arm length. You think medium might work for me?
Hi The OregonBackpacker - I by from the Montbell 🇯🇵 Europe website, it is out of EU so often I have to pay import taxes 🙃 I am not 100 procent sure about the sizes for your numbers...
I would normally get a size large for a jackets - but because of the jackets athletic fit and the stretchy materiel I have chosen size medium, and in my opinion this kind of jacket should have a tight fit - hope that helps you.

Wouldn’t the plasma down jacket go underneath since there is no weather protection??

Does this jacket hold up at all in rain? Nice video!
I am back from 8 days in the wilderness of Norway and the jacket did hold up - it keeps me warm and dry 💁🏕
You say that the hood is one of the reasons why you have chosen the Parka! Is there other reasons.
Only the hood - it is exactly the same jacket/parka💁
