    As big of a fan i am of the show, specifically season one and I thought season 3 complimented it well. Season two let me down just based off of how great season one was. But this season has me incredibly disappointed. I want to love the show but in three episodes Ive left only asking more questions than I came in with , and only enjoying Jodies acting honesty. Ive just come to accept its already half over and theres such minimal detective work or answers to anything that I kinda just lost hope in it being good. Its supernatural or its contaminated water, and if it isnt its something thats barely been hinted right? I mean I dont want to watch 6 episodes to find that out, and I dont want it to be some dumb answer that was never foreseen or some twist like a Navarro alter ego and she killed em. From a writing standpoint, the lack of answers and only more questions when its already half over does what? I guess have me wanting to see whats going on next then hey yea.

      I'm kind of wondering if people "weren't that interested in the personal lives" of the marty and rust or the characters from S2 or S3, or what. This actually feels like less active character development in some cases than all 3 of the seasons before it.

    • @jonfreeman9682
      @jonfreeman9682 8 місяців тому +2

      It's got an X-files and the thing vibe to it so it's not a bad show. But I'll admit it's got more family drama than detective story. So 80% family drama and 20% real detective mystery. Like episode 3 basically nothing happens until the end the guy wakes up suggesting he's be reanimated like a zombie briefly before he dies. So more meat is needed on the plot.

    • @jonfreeman9682
      @jonfreeman9682 8 місяців тому

      @@vinayingle342 Well Rust and Marty was an interesting character study of their bromance so that was half the fun. Season 2 never watched but 3 was honestly boring but watchable. This season so far there isn't anyone near as fascinating as Rust and Marty. That being said it's great to see Jodie Foster back as a grizzled detective and the Arctic setting is always a winner. It starts off similar to that other show Fortitude which was awesome but with polar bears instead of caribou. But that ran for 2½ seasons. Here we only got 6 episodes so dunno how they're gonna weave a rich detective mystery if they're wasting run-time on so much filler.

      He didn't say it's terrible. He's saying the truth. Which is; thus far it's very meh, and now it only has 3 episodes left with no likable characters and a good bit of paranormal stuff to explain. Now do you think the show will flip the script and develop the 2 leads into likable or at least interesting characters simultaneously ending their case to a reasonable extent in 3 episodes, or will this just end as another uninspired season of True Detective? Season 2&3 both had a lot of fans that where acting as if all was good in those seasons until the very end when they aired.

    I don’t think there’s any supernatural stuff in the show at all. I think Navarro has a history of mental illness with hallucinations in her family. I think there was a lot going on in the scene with the hunters going berserk right before the patient started taking to her. I think some pstd and onset high stress is what made us think her seeing him talk actually really happened as we only saw it through her eyes. I think all the Sedna stuff, the TSAL biology research stuff, the “possesions” are all red herrings. I think what Annie uncovered is some fucked grave yard or evidence of the miners/police committing atrocities far beyond poisoning the water supply. I think her murder is just them trying to cover up what she found.

    still struggling with this programme . the first series bristled with character and discussion and had the same director . there where more obvious choices for the main roles but i suspect they wanted the narravo actress from the start and other actresses for the danvers role didnt want the role . its a guess . the problem i have is its uninteresting . when Narravo is on screen my attention wanders off . the clues seem to be sprinkled like bread crumbs throughout the story . i dont feel like there is an emotional hook with the characters . it also seems to be an 80% female cast ? i will stick with it .

      You nailed it. The creepy Arctic Scandinavian setting and the central mystery of the caribou and frozen bodies gives X-files and the thing vibes. The problem is the characters are nowhere near as interesting as Rust and Marty. Then they drag the story with family drama fillers. Basically after 3 episodes there's not much progression of the central mystery. It feels like 80% family drama and 20% detective mystery. With so few episodes I hope it's not a ghost 👻 story reveal. Maybe it's a biological pathogen from the prehistoric era thawed out that spread to drinking water and can reanimate the dead into zombies. 🤞

    The Ending was trash. I seen that same ending in multiple TV series on Netflix the last few years. When I first watched this it reminded me of a Norway TV Series Fortitude. But episode after episode the writer just seemed to make every male character an asshole no matter who he was. This was not writing of a series but a message to men and women watching this. So many not believable scenes that it was getting comical. The only real good part of this series was the Alaska background. It gave you a dreary and dark feeling to be scared. There were a few good scenes. But again this writer just destroyed a good backdrop, to produce a TV mini series like Fortitude. Never watching another series with this creator and writer/director. I do not want to see a political statement in my TV series unless it was a political. It reminded me of an award show that you are trying to enjoy and someone gives a 10 minute political rant.

    no offense, but maybe you're lacking critical thinking to see the clues in the show to explain the "supernatural" away. Both Navarro's mother and sister have some form of high mental psychosis, which makes her more likely to contract a mental disease and would lead to delusions in her own mind. On top of that, she had just bumped her head on the ice causing a clear concussion, that mixed with her fears could explain the hallucinations. Never mind that even the first season had cosmic horror, Cohle taking so many drugs he sees worm holes in the sky... that was still a great season.

    • @donkeysaurusrex7881
      @donkeysaurusrex7881 8 місяців тому

      Cohle said he could always tell the visions caused by the drugs from stuff that was really happening. That’s why he blinks when he sees the birds fly into the spiral and why he gets distracted by the wormhole.
      If this ends up being hallucinations from dirty water I will be very disappointed. Bring back the one element from season 1 that hasn’t been touched since just to jerk the rug out from under people on it.
