Great review! I just pulled the trigger on my Mach 3 this morning (Xmas). Can't wait to get my hands on it. Sweetwater has a $100 off deal right right now. Pat Quilter is a genius. Super nice guy, too. I got to meet him at his shop in Costa Mesa when I had my Mach 2 serviced.
I love my Aviator Mach 3. I have had almost everything and this amp beats em all for versatility and overall usability. Great review of a SUPERB amplifier. Thanks!🤘
Great video! I have this amp and it's wonderful. I got my first Quilter 10 years ago. Now I have 4 of them. Since I got them I sold all my tube amps and don't regret it at alll. What a lot of people don't know is that Pat Quilter is the 'Q' in QSC. He started building tube amps in the 60's and he also is a killer lap steel player so he knows what tube amps sound like. With his knowledge of designing and building tube amps and later sound reinforcement equipment when he retired from QSC (he still owns over 50% of the company) he decided to go back to building instrument amplifiers but with modern technology. They sound like tubes but they have and and they're super light weight. I'm 72 and have had well over 200 amplifiers and my Quilters are the only ones I kept.
I've owned this amp since it came out. I also have 2 of the 3 button footswitches, so I can footswitch all 6 foot switchable things. This is the best solid state amp I have ever played.
Quick question for a "less-experienced" musician...can you use the fx loop as a pure pedal platform with HX Stomp? I love my Mach 3 on its own, but I am looking at being super versatile for a wide range of genres without the 6 amp voices for when I want. If that can be done, how do I do it? And thanks for the great in-depth info on the amp!
Any amp with an fx loop can be used as you are looking to do. Run your HX into the fx Retun to utilize just the power section of the amp. You will probably want to only use the fx and preamp sections of your models in the HX since you are using a separate power amp. You will also want to disable the cab emulation in the HX as well. You could alternatively run your HX Stomp straight into the clean channel of the amp as you would any amp and just use the HX Stomp for your pedal-type effects. Of course you can also the HX Stomp in the 4-cable method to use pedal effects in front of the Quilter, and run your time-based effects in the fx loop. The world is your oyster with the HX Stomp………so experiment and find which way you like best!
This is my third Quilter. I love it. I still have a couple tube amps but I use this all the time. And this review is excellent and taught me a few things!
A few questions for Aviator Mach 3 owners! I'm a longtime tube amp player (currently amp is a Mesa Boogie 50w Rectoverb 6L6 combo) and I'm tired of carrying that heavy amp local gigs so want to try a lighter, less delicate, non-tube combo. I recently bought a 100w Line6 Catalyst to try it out and although it sounds ok, it just can't cut through a live rehearsal. My 50w Mesa Boogie with the volume turned up 50% destroys the Catalyst cranked up to full 100w! I've tried different EQs, moving the amp to different spots in the rehearsal space and it just doesn't cut through at all. So I think I'm gonna sell it and try something different. Since the Catalyst is a modeling amp, I want to try this Quilter amp (a Solid State amp I believe). It should be a totally different sound if I'm correct. My question is does it cut through in a live setting? Also, does this take distortion pedals well? My band's sound isn't super loud or heavy it's just hard rock. Sorry for the long post. All advice is most appreciated! Thank you! 😃
There is what looks like a blue dot in the upper left quarter of the video. I thought it was my monitor. It's like you have it on the top layer of the video.

Holy moly! 200 amps❤
Looks pretty versatile. Having a separate volume on the line out is smart.
makes for quick work at sound check! 👍

@ Thanks a ton! You probably just saved me months of experimentation and a couple of bottles of Advil!

That opening lick… “Oooooo”
if you have a plexi type amp then yes compare it to the aviator as long are using a separate cab and speaker to make things fair.

Do you mic up your amp? Or do you just use the amp volume alone to be heard on stage and by the audience?

@@jscoppe yeah, camera issues that were seen long after recording 😭😭
I thought I was nuts.
How is this a combo? It literally is a head and a cab. Sounds really nice, but just call it what it is, Quilter!
@@jscoppe it’s actually attached to the back of the amp, just like a combo but there’s a hidden feature where it can detached for other uses!
It's A COMBO. All amps can be detached from amp-cabinet combinations (aka combos). This Quilter combo makes it very easy to do so.
Not a bright one, are we?
I could say something..✌️
We have one of these amps over here and it’s spectacular…
No regrets getting this one!
wow, you can red manuals...impressed
@@jackfake9608 wtf you want me to do? Make shit up? 😭😭😂

Solid state modelling....PLEASE>>>AN AMP UI FOR THE MODELLERS TO USE..JUST STUPID
This is a head and cabinet. Quite literally the opposite of a combo amp.
