I love these videos. I grew up in NYC, moving to NJ in Jr highschool. I had about 50 cassette tapes of telephone related things from the very late 1960s through the mid-1980s. About two dozen tapes of shortwave related and AM BCB DXing and several of CB radio in the same time period. Sadly, I threw them out when I bought my first house in 1991.
man, every single one of these videos is so incredibly fascinating even if i don’t always quite get how things work! there’s also this sense of… eerieness? to all the recordings of the sounds that were made by the system. like a sense of “you’re not really supposed to hear this” backed up by the fuzziness of the audio. it’s all made even eerier by the realization that all of this is long gone. all this busyness and technology has been supplanted by a different one. i dunno, that’s just how it makes me feel!! always a pleasure to learn more from ya
Omg I love these recordings. I passed by on of the payphones I used to phreak yesterday. It was at the very end of the road in the late nineties when I was a teenager but I dream of these golden days of telephone hacking. You guys took it way further than I woukd have dreamed.
Hi Evan, could you direct me to your videos about the phone trunks where you can hear everyone talking and you can hear the faint voice of the other person on the phone?
ahmazing! - over the last couple months ive been combing through your material. absolutely fascinating
So good to hear some more programs featuring Bill. Appreciated his presence across many other programs about/from the 70s.

Absolutely amazing. Love to see people documenting the past of some what new technologies. The appreciation for a line man’s craft is beautiful
Oh that hold music is DELICIOUS
The Japanese PBX busy/reorder tone sounds exactly like the ringing machines used in the Australian crossbar ARE network.
Love your videos! Keep up the great work
Do you have any other recordings of getting busy line verified? Would be interesting to hear!

290'd?
Went looking for that too. Nothing I could find with a cursory search.
Might need to dig into the lore a little more
