Any motorcycle content creator not peddling expensive upgrades they get for free. I have enough trouble paying for my own stuff let alone paying for theirs. I’ve dumped ‘Put Miles On It’, ‘Marvelkid87’, ‘Cyclefanix’ (and his son) and ‘HolyShift’.
Many times I have pulled into a car wash bay and hosed myself down with the rinse on hot rides. It works FANTASTIC, but you're dry after 10-15 minutes of riding.
Brother at least you took a peak, part of the journey, to see what that road looked like! Good call though, I prefer pavement. I’ve been seeing too many videos of late guys getting their Harleys off the beaten path, tearing up the bike or running something thru a tire. Love the ride and the stop for grub!
Thanks man. I just love my LRST too much to get all busted up. I can’t wait to get back home (currently on vacation) and try that Stage 2 out! Thank you so very much for watching today!!
@@TyFromTennessee Bro enjoy every minute of vacation, always need that to let our minds defrag from the noise in this world. Can’t WAIT to hear all about the Stage 2!!
Hi Ty. Mike from Kingsport, TN here. I was out riding the "Roadrunner" up here near me. I ride a Gold Wing. The route is all good surface roads, but somehow, my trail route got jacked up on my phone and routed me to a loose gravel road. I figured it was just a "short cut" to another tar road. TEN MILES later I was STILL on loose gravel. I kept thinking that the good road was just around the next corner. Nope. Talk about a major pucker factor. On top of that, I was all alone and never saw another vehicle in those back hill roads of southwestern VA. I didn't even see a kid playing banjo on a porch. I made it without dumping the bike, but the pucker factor was off the charts in that loose gravel with a 1,000 lb. motorcycle. No fun. As for the heat you were riding in, that's miserable as well. My wife and I headed out on a ride and it ended up being 96 degrees with 98% humidity that day. We were out on the road into western NC for over six hours. By the time we got home, I was completely shot out. I always wear full gear, too. That includes an armored riding jacket, riding boots, riding pants with armor, gloves with armor, and a full-face helmet. I think I literally lost four pounds just sweating on that ride. I can handle the heat, but my wife doesn't handle it too well, so we bee-lined it back home once we got to to Hwy 221 near Grandfather Mountain. We headed west to I-26, and then home. GORGEOUS riding out there, but it was just too hot. Ride safe, ride well, and ride often!! Thanks for sharing your ride with us!
Dang man! Ten miles of that and I would be freakin' out a bit for sure! Glad you didn't have to turn around and go back the way you came in..Whew! You've named a few things I really need to check out...the Roadrunner and Grandfather Mtn. I'm putting those on my list. I greatly appreciate your time and thank you for watching!
@@TyFromTennessee I have a list of some 90 rides in the northeastern TN, western NC, and southwestern VA if you're interested. I'm working on adding more information to the database, but I at least have the list and the mileage of each ride. I'm also mapping them all out in my Kurviger navigation app as GPX files to share. It's not a super fast moving process, but I'm gaining on it! LOL
Well, I'll tell ya Ty, I ride a 8-900 lb. Goldwing and I'm not gonna intentionally ride ANY gravel roads unless there's just absolutely no way around it! It don't bother me to be one of those labeled as "sad"!
It's interesting you had problems with your GoPros - you're running the 12, right? In 100F heat, I haven't had mine shut off... I wonder if you're recording at 60fps or something that heats the camera up more than me?
On that day I had a 12 and a 10 keep shutting down on me when it really warmed up. I’m shooting 4k 30fps. I really don’t know. Can you ask Pete? He set all my GoPros to the exact same setting so let’s blame him. 😀
@@TyFromTennessee Yeah, if he shows up for my livestream tonight, I'll be sure and ask him! 4k/30fps should NOT overheat a GoPro. MAYBE if you were recording every second of the ride, it might... but even then, I rode in 100F heat, in the sun, for 3 hours a couple years ago with 3 GoPros [8, 9, and Max, I think?] and none of them overheated - and I recorded the whole ride. This past weekend, I rolled with my 10 and 12 all weekend, and had nary a problem. I only recorded the Back of the Dragon and The Snake fully, though.
🛑🛑 A man has got to know his limitations. 💯 I would never take my CVO Ultra off road like that, unless they were giving free beer away at the top of the hill. 🍺😂 Those bikes are too nice for that kind of stuff. Keep them on the asphalt. 💯
Best decision I've made was to buy an ADV style bike. Go ride the Pan AM if you need Harley, or test ride another brand if interested. I have a moto guzzi V85TT
Love the videos. And would love to hang a ride/dinner with you someday (I’m in TN) and the Thrashin boys or Matt Laidlaw. BTW does your Thrashin handlebar bag rub your tank in that position?
Hey there! What part of TN are you in? I'm near the Ooltewah/Chattanooga area. You're not the first to ask that question at all. Nope - It barely touches the tank and hasn't caused any damage or scratches at all. I appreciate your time very much and thank you for watching!!
Nope, I don't do gravel roads. Forget all THAT nonsense! You've seen my vids from a few years ago... I ended up stopping on one, facing downhill, not happy. Funny side story: I had a friend who took us down a steeply-crowned, mostly-paved road. At the time, I had < 1k miles on my Vaquero... that sucked. The outer half of the road was gravel, and the slope was similar to the roof of a house! To this day, I remember the name of the road, and refuse to get on anything with that name.
don't know til you try it.. i mean me and my cousin our first time out to Sturgis ended up on a gravel road which I let him lead the way being he was on a streetglide and i was on a trike so not like gravel road bothered me much but i wanted to make sure he was going to be ok being he picked the road and i also didnt want to kick rocks up on him via the car tires on the bike..good video and yeah bikes can take the heat but gopro's can't really sadly which is why i got away from them. stay safe out there.. I know I gotta get 1k riding done this sunday/monday so might see ya around possibly.
