Bon Odori (盆踊り), meaning "Bon dance", is a style of dancing performed during the Obon festival. The music can be songs specific to the spiritual message of Obon, or local folk songs, different from region to region. Residents of the Kansai area will recognize the famous "Kawachi Ondo". This is just a local elementary school in the Horie neighborhood in Osaka city, but for one night (maybe a couple nights) it becomes straight up Ghibli, during the BonOdori festival, which is randomly held in the summer (the date depends on the park/school/city). Normally, you can't just walk into this school yard, but this is a neighborhood style festival. Almost all the local parks have the same festival. The next video I posted is at a park nearby.
