We asked our papahs to try Chipotle - a popular fast-casual Mexican style restaurant known for customizable burritos, bowls, and tacos with fresh ingredients. The dads rank them not only on how tasty they are but how close they are to their authentic counter parts. How do you think they'll rank?

The dad who keeps saying things are bussin is awesome dad vibes. I love it. I will say tho, it seems like their 1-10 scale is weighted heavily on the high end and you can tell because they will say its not that good and still give it a 6,7, or 8. I know they are just being super polite. There is so much amazing mexican food out there. Good vid tho!!

Burritos are little donkeys. It's an aglo term used to describe for some unknown reason, a taco. And no burritos are not common in Mexico they're just tacos no matter how you fold them wrap them.

I like Chipotle, but I really think it needs to stop branding itself as "Chipotle Mexican Grill." It was created by a white guy from Indiana. There's no shame in branding Chipotle as Mexican fusion or inspired. Panda Express already does it, they're branded as American Chinese food.

@@crisspena2211y’all get too much into the “authenticity.” My family in Michoacán literally throws anything into a corn tortilla and calls it a taco. They don’t even say come to dinner, they literally say “vente por un tacito” and it can be anything, not even taco related lol

Burritos were created in México and they are very common in the northwest part of México. We just don't super size everything like gringos. Burritos are usually smaller and typical on any city from this region.

Well in Mexico, "Pocho" is used to specify people who are born in the US but their parents are from Mexico. So saying Mexican-American is just the literal meaning of what Pocho is trying to imply
When he said burritos were from the north, i thin he meant northern Mexico more than the US. Burritos are relatively popular in Chihuahua and Sinaloa. They're not the same as this style but they're burritos nonetheless

Chipotle burritos seem to be based on the mission style burritos from Pancho Villa taqueria in the San Francisco mission district. It used to be a local thing. Cheap and tasty, and filled you up for the day.
I love this series! Keep it up! If you have a Qdoba near by you could do a similar one but make sure to include the spicy queso as well as their tortilla soup if it's offered there.

The most annoying thing is that you have to pay extra for guacamole at chipotle. But at qdoba, which is similar to chipotle, it doesn’t cost extra.

not if you get a veggie bowl! i always get them and one time an employee said “are u sure you don’t want guac? it’s free with a veggie bowl” so idk how true that still is i haven’t been in a while, but i used to get it cause it was free when i ordered a veggie bowl

The subtitles were wrong in one instance. When he said "norte" he meant Northern Mexico, not the US. Burritos are big in Chihuahua and Sonora, but not Southern Mexico.

Burritos are common in Mexico and always have been but they originated in the north part (chihuahua Mexico) so maybe that’s why they weren’t as familiar with them. But in chihuahua it’s always been a thing.
I just moved to study here in the US, and the shock of lack of flavor is very noticeable. It lacks mexican flavor. But if I lived here for years, I would like it since it's the only food with basic mexican flavor
Wherever you are in the states, you can probably find a Mexican grocery store or an authentic restaurant. Even if the menu at that restaurant is geared towards Americans, let them know what you're looking for. You just might find it. 😀

when i get chipotle guac i go home and add citrus(lemon or lime) and garlic salt + pepper. it does need something extra

I have a suggestion for you to try tacoria. Its a mexican-based chain. that has one of the best authentic mexican food you can find. I reccomend you try the nachos, burrito, there burrito bowl and for dessert Nutella Tortilla Chips!
It’s definitely not authentic Mexican. You’d get more authentic Mexican food from your local Mexican restaurant.

i am not a mexican dad... but i think their scores are legit. They should ask more people. I think their quesadillas are actually quite good. The burritos can be pretty decent, however huge . Their chips and salsa are still imo the best thing for me in the menu, simple , amazing quality. I have tried bowls once, burritos once and quesadillas twice. The winner for me has always been the nacho chips and tomatoe sauce. Second close for me are the quesadillas but I would probably eat 3 serving. lol

I'm Mexican and have had Chipotle twice in my life. The first time because it was a new thing and I had to try it. The second time was about 20 years later. Let's just say it'll be about another 20 years before I want to try it again.

As a Mexican, I personally love Chipotle😂. With that said, I never get anything but the bowl. And if I want Mexican food I don’t go to chipotle. I know hella Mexicans who go there all the time (I’m from California). The only Mexicans who go hard against it are the prissy ones. It may not be authentic(who cares) but it’s quality ingredients and better than a traditional fast food like McDonald’s or Taco Bell
