Former chipotle employee here. Chipotle rice is super simple. They use a little oil and bay leaves in the water while cooking, when its done its mixed with celantro, a little salt, citris juice(Just use lime juice its better) and you're done. Its been a long time so anyone feel free to correct me, but its a super simple and tasty way to make rice.
Yeah I feel like i would still find a way to mess it up lol😅
Also the cheese: it's a blend of fresh shredded blocks of monterey jack and white cheddar. They do indeed shred every morning. As for the oil, it's a bit unique, they actually use sunflower oil in the rice, so that likely will contribute a bit of the flavor you experience that makes it so different from other rice.
I need the recipe for the carnitas, PLEASE. Only reason why i keep going back, lol
@@danid2702 you're out of luck, carnitas and barbacoa come fully cooked and ready to serve in a vacuum sealed bag. They just reheat it in boiling water
@@Rlmorrison74 :(
8 Bowls comes out to $16 per bowl.
Its cheaper to get one bowl at a time going to chipotle and getting double meat
And its fresh...
For me where chipotle is not close - this is perfect!
bruh, 16 a bowl brother hell naw, 140 is my monthly expend on food lmao
Mine come out to $18-$20. Where u getting this price?
@@vendettaboy2526 chicken double meat at my chipotle is $12, $15 for steak
I’ve been a manager at chipotle for 4 years, it’s not worth it to do catering unless ur getting it for 100+ ppl. It’s also Monterey Jack cheese btw 😭 we make everything we sell fresh every morning, we shred our own cheese, mash our own guac, cut our own veg, and marinate our own specialty meats. It’s a nightmare but that’s y they away with up charging EVERYTHING.
Yeah I think going forward just ordering bowls fresh is the way👌
Can I get the recipe for the chicken? I've tried the copycat pinterest recipes, and they are NOT the same or even close haha
@@JoeySuggs a bowl for me is over $18. Way cheaper to bulk prep.
Chris this is17 a plate. Way cheaper --??
I’ll marinate your meat 😏
I meal prepped my own version of chipotle food one time and got 12 meals for just under $120. Also had Chicken, Steak, and my own version of sofritas. Took about an hour of prep and 2 hours to cook it all. 100% worth it during a 62 hour work week. 100% helps knowing how to cook.
I love content creators who do this because it’s so helpful. I feel like I could definitely do this, probably twice the amount, for half the price. $140 seems a bit steep especially since some of the amounts are ridiculously small. Like the guac, cheese, and even the lettuce.
Yeah I completely agree, definitely more cost effective ways of doing this👌
For $140 I'd have enough groceries for 2 weeks of meals. Eating out is mostly overpriced.
@@davidfence6939 100%
I don't know what you expect, obviously you can do it for cheaper yourself since you are transferring labor costs to yourself
It is very doable to make the rice taste that good! I used to work at Chipotle. All it is = rice (it's cooked with a bit of oil) + cilantro + salt + lime juice tossed in a bowl
Not too bad at all! Gonna have to try it on my own!
What kind of oil
@@JoeySuggs add a bit of chicken bullion to the water as you cook the rice it will taste better
@@Kentariusthc oil 87% thc
@@Kentarius Ive read online that Chipolte uses a Rice Bran oil for their rice. It is basically the oil from the husks of the rice
Qdoba has a family meal you can do for takeout that is like this, but in the $40 range. It might be more cost effective, and you'd be less likely to get sick of it since it's less overall.
I wish I had one close to me! I’ve actually never even tried one😳
I worked at chipotle back in college. I did prep so I was there 6 days a week doing guac. I got a free meal every shift and I craved that sh… stuff.. even more every single day. I got the same quesarito basically every single day lol
@@JoeySuggs Qdoba is pretty decent. The guac and queso is free/included with the menu items, which is kinda nice.
@@JoeySuggs way better than chipotle
I think the best option for this use case (trying to get a full week of lunch/dinner) is the 3 meat custom order. You get more than double the bases (can double your rice and still get beans), a third protein tray (double chicken + steak), choose 4 toppings (triple fajita veggies and 1 cheese), double up your guac, double your corn order (or go 2 corn like you did and 2 salsas) and you can double up your tortillas. Pricing in my area (Indianapolis) is $150 before taxes. So for like $20 more you are getting ALOT more food. You could for sure get 10 meals out of this, if not 12. If you are getting 12, I think there is good value there.
Yeah that would hopefully work out as better deal!
great point
It’s slightly more than hello fresh! And you don’t have to cook shit or choose low protein meals 😂
Lmao idk how that's good value.. Chipotle is super mediocre and you have to order a massive amount to get a decent price for meals for the week ?
Looking forward to the devliery companies from a meal prep perspective. It's also nice to see someone in fitness that just doesn't ignore or down play sodium.
I’m VERY excited about the meal prep company video!
It’s so disappointing. Even ordering double protein isn’t what it used to be. I lift 5x a week and I’d use chipotle in a pinch but def not every day. I’m so glad he brought up sodium content too because content creators really don’t do that. Can’t wait for the next videos 🙌
The rice is easy to make yourself. Make plain white rice. Once cooked, mix lime juice, cilantro and salt in a bowl and mix in rice.
Truee not too bad I guess!
I’m glad you mentioned the sodium content multiple times it’s such an overlooked ingredient that can very quickly cause all kinds of problems.
Yeah it just makes you feel not very good!
Sodium isn't an issue. It's actually an important nutrient that your body needs, especially if you sweat a lot and/or workout. And it's a myth that sodium can cause high blood pressure long term.
@@redpillthinking6043def not a myth lol. Stop spreading misinformation. Now it may not be as bad for athletes like u said if u sweat a lot u can eat a little more.
@redpillthinking6043 are you trolling or just dumb?
Dang that breaks down to like $17.50 per meal, would be cheaper and probably tastier/more fresh to just go in the store everyday sadly. Wish they could do the catering order for less
This comment restored my faith in humanity! I’m smashing that like button!
this video is wholesome to me your energy comes off genuine bro 🙏
Appreciate the love glad you enjoyed🙌
Looks like a perfect idea between me and my 19 year old son that’s a major gym head 😅. My workout is grocery shopping non -stop 😂 My only concern is adding the cheese and salad ahead of warming the meals. It’s probably best to leave them separately in the fridge so everything else can me warmed up all the way through first. I believe the beans are definitely more of the culprit with the bloating 😆
Yesss if you making the meals at home and not on the go deff leave them off🙌
Add tomato, make salad. Also use bean liquid, tomato & some of the corn & a little meat to make a soup. + 1 more meal is prepped! First meal while the salad is freshest?
Appreciate the vid, we needed this 💪🏾🔥
Forsureeee👌
This is definitely worth it for me, i spend around $120 a work week on meals which is 5 days, so $140 for 8 meals ain't bad, but definitely better to order separately, seems cheaper and you're getting it fresh and don't have to eat the same thing as with this your stuck with the main ingredients.
Agreed! If you gonna do it just do a bill order and you’ll end up even better!
it's cheaper to get them as individual bowls and you won't have to worry about making your own
It could've made 10 bowls but you used 150g of meats per bowl rather than 113g, which is the 4oz portion they actually serve per bowl.
Here's the recipe for the cilantro lime rice:
Cook the rice with bayleaves
Mixed cooked rice with cilantro and lime/lemon juice concentrate or fresh.
Don't remember measurements so just do it to taste. Honestly can't mess it up unless you over cook the rice or used too much juice.
Best way to eat and prep these types of things at home is to not make the multiple individual bowls. Put all the packaged ingridients in the fridge, pull out, weigh and make a fresh bowl every time, then mix. That way you won't have soggy lettuce. Also chipotle is supposed to be served cool items (salsas and such) on top of hot items (rice, beans, meat), that dynamic adds to the experience and flavor.
Should make a series of this, going to different restaurants.
Yeah I wanna do Panda Express next!
@@JoeySuggs OMG PLEASE Panda Express!
Add tomato, make salad. Also use bean liquid, tomato & some of the corn & a little meat to make a soup. + 1 more meal is prepped! First meal while the salad is freshest?
Bro didnt realize he’s about to be eating microwaved lettuce for the next week😂
Lmaoo rally not as bad as I thought it would be though😂
Loved this video, very creative. I wouldn’t personally do this because I could not eat that much Chipotle.
Yeah it’s definitely a commitment to have this much chipotle😅
Gonna try this out thank you for sharing
For sure! Hope you enjoy
never thought of this, cool idea
In theory yes, doesn’t work for all people though!
My brother did this for 8 months and my mom just kept asking who's cooking all this food for him lol.
I meal prep my own Chipotle, but I don't make the rice because of having too many carbs, I instead would substitute the rice for a tortilla for a taco/burrito, other than that I just make more chicken while prepping for the protein, usually 3-4 packs of chicken thighs will cover a weeks worth of burrito bowls for me, the corn salsa, pico de gallo, and guac are all pretty simple to make using the same ingredients, you just gotta chop/cut up the vegetables themselves(cilantro, onion, tomatoes, jalepeno if you want) same with the fajitas, just chop/cut up the peppers and cook them with oil and some seasoning, beans are also easy, canned beans with seasoning/recipe you can find online, sour cream and cheese if you want can just be bought at the store, overall, meal prepping this takes usually an hour maybe 2, I would recommend getting an air fryer for the chicken just to speed up that cooking time(6 mins at 400F and flip for another 6 mins at 400F) for most air fryers will get that chicken perfectly cooked
An amazing meal prep hack I love, cheap, and by far the easiest. Just find some microwave dinners, and add a bunch of protein (chicken/beef).
Can get one bowl for $9.85 with tax normal bowls with brown rice, chicken, beans, veggies, mild, corn, cheese. So times 10 equals $98.50 for 10 full delicious fresh bowls
Containers which are subdivided may be a good idea. Also the lettuce will wilt when you reheat the food.
I think it makes more sense to buy a few 2 times a week for your meals plan which will save you all that time
I think it might just be cheaper if you were to do 10 individual bowls … jus cuz it only made 9 bowls for $140…
If you ordered 10 bowls normal let’s say it’s $10 for each bowl . With tax that still would be only around $115/$120 . Maybe even less possibly , and then you’re guaranteed to actually get what you pay for too
100% right! So a normal double meat bowl for me is $14 but I also get was more food in a normal bowl than the meal prep…. So they over charged and under delivered for sureee
Lol I was wondering about this!!!! And Joey Suggs the goat 😂 did it!
Yesss I got you!
Get a Zojirushi rice cooker and a 15 pound bag of white rice. Add 4 cups of rice, salt, and a bay leaf and cook the rice with water. Squeeze and lemon and lime on it once done and add cilantro and oil. Easiest rice you'll ever make.
ok now i’m door dashing Chipotle’ It looked good but not as beautiful as Joey 🤩🤩🤩
I had a couple come in to the store when I was the assistant manager asking for a way to do this. We had no way of doing a catering for just ingredients, the closest would be the build your own, but you're limited to how much meat you can get.
They wanted something like 40lbs of meat, because I think they were planning to sell meal prep kits.
For reference, 40lbs of meat is what comes in a case of steak and chicken is about 44lbs. A case of steak is about $250ish at cost, and we sell it for about $4 per 4oz portion.
So instead of catering, they wanted to just buy that much made meat. We told them, flat out, that isn't happening, we don't have the time to do that much meat without actively stopping production. While my manager was handling that, I did the math.
For an *entire* case if my math was correct, 4oz X 4 (for the amount of a 1b portion before tax) X 40 (for a whole case of steak) = 2560.
The average catering is usually around $200ish depending on size and ingredients. I told them this, and they left pissed.
Simply purchase 5 chicken burrito bowls, loaded up with all the toppings of choice and the lettuce and sour cream on the side , dump them into a big bowl and gently toss and you can easily get 10 bowls from this for right around $50 . Or add your own lettuce, sour cream , salsa , etc……
Yeah much better idea, could even just freeze them and take em out the day before you want them too!
Far Free Greek Yogurt in place of Sour cream. Extra protein there
You’re also sacrificing taste cause sour cream tastes so much better.
@@_tony_masters nonsense
For sureeee trying to keep it fully chipotle for this one!
My problem with refrigerated rice is that they still go bad pretty fast. IDK why. It will last like 2-3 days then boom. its spoilt. Maybe its just my way of cooking it but i do the regular asian way (with the rice cooker) or it might be the type of rice. IDK
Good idea. Just have to calculate your servings better so u get even amounts.
its a good idea if you work like 10-12 hours a day, but if you have the time, the convenience is not worth it. he made 8 quality bowls and paid $130 total, that's $16 each! How he woulda saved money just buying a bowl individually. Also, after 2 days, rice will never recover in taste or texture. You can mimic this meal prep for half the price making it yourself.
Yeah but the protein would still be low per bowl for me
to make the cilantro lime rice just make white rice and add in lime juice, cilantro, and butter
Trueeee👌
no butter in chipotle. qudoba rice uses butter
Still save a lot of money on buying groceries, and peeping it yourself for more plates to be made or atleast vacuumed seal shut bags for later on. I think Panda Express does catering, rather go with them if I want to go this route where food is cooked already for me.
Very random question but what shoes are you wearing? The black and white looking ones?
Not me thinking this was affordable. 😭 I moved to Hawaii years ago and there’s no Chipotle here, but I’m pretty sure with how expensive groceries are here, buying the ingredients would probably come out to the same price you paid for all that. 😅
Btw! I used to work in Chipotle and one serving of meat is 4oz or approx. 113g, which is most likely why you ended up with less bowls.
Yeah for sure could be worth it there! But also I got double meat so I should have been able to make 10 meals with 200g of meat at least based off that serving size
"I don't think I got enough rice, and I don't think I got enough meat"
a tale as old as time with Chipotle XD
The guac will start to turn brown after 24 hours, even covered up. And $17.50 per bowl is beyond insane. He also basically paid $140 for 2.5 pounds of meat.
If you absolutely positively love Chipotle and want it everyday without going into the store then yeah this would make alot of sense despite the price. I live a little ways away from them so for me the price would be justified. If you live closer, just go in.
Ok first let me run you through the boxes, the first one is the bag. 😂 I thought that was a little funny
I like the concept, but the economics classes and restaurant experience in me tells my mind to compare the markup of prepared food to making it at home. Generally, I go with making it at home. Great video though!
Very true can’t beat doing it yourself!!
I wanted to do this.. but how did you know the macros per gram?
Not worth it! It’s more cost and time effective going in to order it daily OR make it yourself in bulk. They cheated you out of what you paid for and it’s double the price.
Edit: I love this video though! I appreciate how real you kept it. And I love your review afterwards.
I just did this yesterday. I work at Amazon for 10 hrs and this was beneficial af for me. Got the single catering deal and paid $115. I was able to prep 4 bowls since I work 4 days and I made me a bowl to eat for yesterday. I think it’s good if you’re single and work long hrs at work and don’t feel like cooking. Spent less than what I would spend at walmart on top of having to come home and cook it. They couldve gave way more fajitas though
Yeah for your situation it seems like it worked out perfect👌
115 for 4 meals is kind of crazy when you could just go order 4 bowls fresh on sunday and just keep them in the fridge til you ready to eat for ~$40-$50
Cheaper to buy a burrito at Chipotle with double the meat and more veggies than it is to do this meal prep.
Simple home rice fix (don't eat as I'm losing weight at 300+ lbs and type 2).
Buy a rice cooker. A solid one. Not a $40 Walmart one. Splurge on a Japanese or Korean one. It cooks rice perfectly and you can add aromatics aka spices, use broths in place of water. You can make better rice than Chipotle for less. 🤷♂️
Yeah still working on my rice making skills 😅
Great content. Perhaps cheaper to buy 10 bowls separately and dbl all of thr sides. @ $9 each plus tax, I'll assume that it's cheaper this way.
Oh yeah for sure cheaper that way!
My complex would laugh at me arriving to my place with those boxes 😂 without throwing a party
Yup just 4 boxes of chipotle for yourself in pure silence😂
@@JoeySuggs I get those looks when I bring back two pizzas. They KNOW I live alone. 😂
I used to work at Chipotle and there was a customer that would come by once a month doing this exact thing. He'd order a huge catering order every month, and that was his food for the month.
all i had to do was type in hodges blvd to see it was in Jacksonville. Just so that you know for next time
I have no problem with that, let em come!
putting the lettuce in the prep container was a mistake because now its gonna be annoying rto reheat
My brain shut off when I saw the lettuce microwaved. Great content.
Lmao promise it wasn’t that bad!!
So, for me this wouldn't be an option. While it's a time saver, I can prepapre breakfast and 3 meals for 10 days with that budget and it has the correct amount of macros. It's a cool experiment though!
Definitely agree it’s not that cost effective at all!
"fajitas the only vegetables in the dish..."
Black beans: Am I a joke to you?
Not green though😅
legumes aren't vegetables
Great video. I miss the way Chipotle was about 15 years ago. It has too much sodium now and I have a feeling they use MSG ....I feel horrible after I eat it. Still love the guac though.
They use LOADSSSSS of salt you are not wrong. Things you would expect to have a lot of salt have (Corn, tomatoes, guac)
Yep they put salt on everythingggg
They don't use MSG.
WOW they are making a killing. $140 for that shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Yeah it’s pretty pricey tbh!
hey man, huge fan! Kinda random but I'm actually a manager at a Chipotle and the cheese we use is monterey jack, not mozzarella
update: yes we do shred our own cheese lol
Huh well good to know for the future for sure👌
This is cool but how do you mess up portion sizes w a scale?
I barely graduated high school, prob has something to do with it
Thought you were going to microwave it up so have the cold on the side and the hot in a different container but all good 😅
Seems about 2x more expensive than if you made it yourself.
I’m not an expect cook by any means but I could definitely replicate these meals for far less money.
Time and effort is sometimes more valuable than the money itself to people so if that’s not your main focus, then go for it.
Yeah I think a case could be made for either way but I’d rather cook and get some more variety for a little less money too👌
This is a great idea if you like chugging canola oil.
Great Vid i didnt think it would be much cheaper and the cons outweigh the pros sicne food isnt fresh and you have to seperate it. i just started eating chiptole almost everyday for lunch an n get steak and guac and its almost $17. TBH i think making your own bowls and buying the ingrediants and comparing the cost would have been cool to see like by $140 worth of chicken or steak a bag of lettuce, couple avacodos, cans of beans bag of rice pre made pico and see how many meals you can make from it.
Just food for thought
Yeah this would be a good follow up for sureee!!
Was the protein in the beans factored, too?
Yep!
FYI Chipotle cheese is monterey jack
Do you eat 1 a day? And do you freeze or refrigerate these for the week?
2 and no freeze
Soooooo it's a better deal to buy in store and actually have it be fresh?
Pretty much yes….
bro it through me off so hard seeing the chipotle i go to like once a week pop up in the video
Lmao the beach Blvd one is pretty hit or miss tbh!!
next time, place the beans in a colander to rid the liquid.
What calorie tracker do you use?
MyFitnessPal
Doesn’t cooked rice to bad in the fridge after a few days? I can’t imagine eating it on day 5. It’s supposed to go bad fairly quickly, no? Do you freeze it?
It got a little hard toward the end but I didn’t freeze it!
Always curious about those companies. They send adds for so much off but then when I look at it, still seems pricey
Video just went live about it🙌
big brain moves
best way to do it 4oz of each item except cheese. thats what everything is calculated out for calorie count.
Yeah then the volume and macros really suffers 😅
That makes sense. And the rice is super easy to make funny enough if you want any of the recipes I can get you them 😂😂
Just buy the guacamole cups at a wholesale club. They're all individually sealed
Fun to watch. Way too much salt. There was potential for much more variety if the flour tortillas were used (maybe with the beans for a veggie breakfast wrap) or the beans used to make a bean dip. I was thinking no why are you adding the lettuce when it needed to be on the side to stay cold but at least you said it was no too bad.
I would buy the meat, rice, and sauces but not stuff you can cook or chop yourself like guac or lettuce
Is corn not a vegetable or? What did I miss 😂
rice is only safe to eat for like 3-5 days also
*orders a large amount of food* *picks up a large amount of food* "what is literally going on?!"
Seriously 1200 divided by 150 is 8. I knew that in the fourth grade lol!!
120 would have given you 10 bowls. But if you were doing 9 approximately 128 grams
Cool video 🎉🎉🎉
🙌🙌
You’re a genius
I was about to order because I don’t want to cook, but since they don’t give enough food I will past. I’m not trying to go to bed hungry.
First video of yours ive seen. Saw the rifle.....SUBSCRIBED!!!! lol
Let’s goooo glad you found me, happy to have ya🙌🙌
That comes down to $17 a day, not sure if it’s better than prepping yourself
When he said it tastes like Chipotle 😂😂😂
It’s cheaper to buy 10 steak bowls right?
Yeah I think it would have worked out cheaper that way, and I would have gotten more food!!
really wished u used the provided bowls to see how the bowls looked once filled with rice/meat beans only just to see if u really get ur moneys worth bcuz to be honest i feel like just ordering seperate bowls is way better value
Yeah much better value!
As soon as I saw the portion sizes.... I was disappointed for you. I knew that instant it wouldn't be enough. I like to grab a good portion size meal for a deal. So I've got quite the eye for portioning lol.
I didn’t think the portions were bad size but the macros worth worth it imo
Isn't it cheaper or same just to order a bowl w/ double meat?
Yeah that’s a better option for sure👌
I think the serving size they use in the meat is less than 150 g that you tried maybe they only use 4oz per meal. It's a good idea but pricey.
Yeah but I got double meat so it should be 8oz which should have made 10 bowls with 220g of protein at least…
@@JoeySuggsaha so they didn't give you double meat here only 1200 g total like you weight it !!! They stole from you kind of no?
Just got the McDonald’s meal prep amazing
Lmao that works too!
You win
They need to see this video and drop the price in half
Seriously! Makes no sense!!
