I'm a Machinist and love the "Swipes" unit of measure :) . Sometimes its fun to use terms such as swipes however over forty years in the craft I have never had a boss that appreciated the humor of such things ;)
I will be buying or building a Flintlock rifle soon. My biggest hang-up is overall length. I know that Kibler's Colonial and SMR are too long to go in either of my safes . The Woodsrunner I would assume is 3.5" shorter overall but you know A.S.S.U.M.E. Will you please tell me what is the overall length of the Woodsrunner ? @@Real11BangBang
Thanks Much Ethan! I’m totally amazed how you reloaded so fast between shots that the human eye couldn’t pick it up! And, I Want One Of Those Plum Good Rifles! One day I shall. Much fun watching the results after each grouping. Many Blessings and keep your powder shootin on Brother. DaveyJO in Pennsylvania p.s. And Thanks to Blackie for makin that plum good gun butter!
This was very enjoyable to watch! In addition, it provides an EXCELLENT "How To" on how to go about discovering the ideal load and sighting in a Smoke Pole! Well Done!
Let me know if you get bored with that there frontstuffer Ethan...I reckon I have an empty space left on my wall somewheres...reckon ninety grains what she likes amigo, Thanks for takiing us along...woods
Excellent load development and sighting in I was worried at first seeing you try to go off half cocked I'm not used to that y'all are usually calm fellows but good shooting Ethan
I used to crop dust back when we had automatic flagmen. To those unfamiliar, it was a box on the wing that dispensed toilet paper glued to a piece of cardboard. It showed where our last pass was. It came in several colors including fluorescent orange. We always used white because we could see it better than any other color. Seeing that your outfit is white, I assume you only hunt when there’s snow on the ground?
Nope, I went on several hunts last year in this and it works quite well. I'm a stalker, not a stand hunter so I know how to use the terrain to my advantage. Namely, I like to get down on a riverbed walk upstream a couple of miles and then come right up on the deer peek up over the bank and take my shot. I've shot two does with a smoothbore Charleville musket in this hunters frock. It works great
Good shooting! She looks good with a low front sight. I know it was practical in this case, but so many repros have high front sights whereas every original I've seen has these low profile suckers. Looking forward to the test against the Pattern 1776. I've long wondered why that rifle wasn't the basis for the Baker as it just seems to have more shootable architecture (and looks so much better as well). I'm glad Jim shortened the Woodsrunner a bit from the original as it just makes it that much more pleasant to carry.
Is this your home made powder? Proud of the lack of flinch when there a flash in the pan. Now I'd like to know more on the efficiency side how well there's a complete burn. Mountain man
get you some JB bore compound and polish the bore. try a 15 thou. patch. all new barrel's need to be polished. if you want you can bed the breech and each barrel lug. should be able to shoot five shot groups that all touch each other at 50 yards. with no more than 55 grains of 3fff powder.
Just beautiful.
You did not need to file that front sight All you needed to do was aim a little higher You're dead on at 100 All you had to do was elevate the barrel just a little bit and everything That rifles accurate it with 90 grains of powder but if you're going to hit something I try 110 just to see what it'll do 110 maybe a little hotter but you may find out it might be a little bit better powder charge or go with 95 grains of powder
no you need to get it down if you want to use a six o'clock hold at 100 yards. you just want the tip of the sight touching the bottom of the target so you can actually see what you are shooting at
Old Sweetlips? How did you know my nickname in high school?
Wonderful video as always, folks.
Santee, there are some things you should probably keep to yourself lol

Hi my friend
Thank you, Good job.

Nice work! You definitely have a solid shooter here. 👍👍

I really need to get out and do the same with a couple of my rifles. Very cool video!

yes it is. we haven't chronograph it yet. but it is made to the same specs as everything black powders stuff and he has lots of tests on his channel
@@Real11BangBang arrrgg 🤔
3 Rounds touching in 100 yds!!! impressive
oh that rifle will shoot
Thank for the video, waiting on my first coat of Tried and True Varnish oil to cure. Hope to shoot my .45 WR next weekend.
you wont be disappointed
Great job. Did you clean the rifle after each challenge?
Yes we did
Sweet. Pretty girl indeed.
😊 thanks
Great video. Where did u get hunting frock? Looks great on you! Hat also
The hat was from townsends. The hunting frock from Etsy and his homemade
Lovely rifle, great video. I would have been interested to see what a fired patch looked like
we have a video about shooting silk out of it where we show them
@@Real11BangBang cool! I'll check it out. Thanks.
Great stuff thanks for sharing. Where did you get that awesome shooting bag ?
this is a townsends bag. thanks for watching

could be fine but we will settle for the 90 gr groups shooting clover leaves at 100
Is there a video on how to polish the bore? What's needed to do this task?
"Trampoline" the rod to insure the patched ball is homed on the powder and with a consistent amount of compression.

awesome!
thank you
A calm day in Ks........WOW!..... Good shoot'n.
thankyou
In two 50cal rifles I owned they liked 70gr of FFF powder. In a custom rifle in 50 cal it liked 90gr of FFF powder best.
I thought triple f was standard on .50’cal. Didn’t he use double f? I wonder why
Very impressive grouping. Were you having any problems with leading or excessive powder fouling?
No not really our powder burns really clean. and no leading
@@Real11BangBang outstanding!
Try a brass ramrod. They are awesome I have 2 of them
How often did you swab the bore between shots,
every three shots
My word just beat that ball
seems to work dosent it
@@Real11BangBang why put sprue up oh i see so you beat the tar out of it got it.
will kibler make a left handed rifle ??
Unfortunately no. It would require a completely different set of machinery however I am left handed and I shoot this gun just fine
@@Real11BangBang ,thank you,,i was cocererend with being able to see the target,,as well as smoke and cinders in my eyes,,
I have lost vision in my right eye. I shoot left handed with all my right hand guns. I haven't lost my touch, thank God.

.20 patches? Jesus.... Why not denim? 😂
because denim is to thick for this combo. .20 is pretty standard
@@Real11BangBang I think y'all mean .020" 🙂
Pounding the ramrod repeatedly will deform the ball and accuracy will suffer. Ram it down in one clean stroke.
I don't know how you get much more accurate than sub MOA lol
Deformed that ball! Most solders are 50.50 but not leagle for plumbing. So 95.5 is very hard.
Still shot a 1-inch group at 100 lol
Way too tight!
no just about right
100 grains! Dude please use some safety glasses. I know you like historical correctness, but yer eyeballs are kinda important.
lol thanks for your concern
Helps with flinching too. I flinch less when I don't feel air or smoke blowing at my eyeballs.
