Equipping Firefighters for the Frontline: The Importance of Training & Safety

- The Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI) recently teamed up with Fire Department Coffee (FDC) to discuss the importance of firefighter training and safety, and shared stories about real-life situations where training came into action. This film was also made possible in part by @idexfiresafety3432, who donated $5000 directly to IFSI.
IFSI recognizes the significance of comprehensive training programs to equip firefighters with the necessary skills and knowledge to respond effectively to emergencies. With a focus on state-of-the-art training techniques, IFSI strives to enhance the capabilities of firefighters nationwide.
FDC is no stranger to the importance of firefighter training and safety. As a company run by active and retired firefighters, we strive every day to give back to those that risk their lives to keep us safe. Throughout August, FDC has been raising money for IFSI through the Fire Department Shirt Club and Fire Department Coffee Club. Each purchase directly gives back to IFSI to ensure firefighters have access to the tools they need. Learn more at www.firedeptcoffee.com/blogs/... - Комедії
remember: you can't save anyone if you screw up and have to be rescued. learn every day, so you can be the hero, not the challenge.
I really appreciate that. When I was 15 I was evacuated from a fire and my house almost burned down. I’m 18 now and it is my dream job to be a Firefighter. I got in with CalFire and within 2 days of training, there was a siren that went off and as soon as I heard it I couldn’t think. I ended up leaving the next day because I knew I wasn’t ready. I have been beating myself up over something so dumb as that. But my dad told me that same thing. If I’m not focused and ready when I’m in I could kill my fellow brother/sister in arms. I’m gonna wait a little bit and train and then go back into it.
Good call. If you freeze up your bros are gone. But don't get discouraged. You may see us old folks not look worried. It's only cause we've already done it. To not be scared is stupidity. Sincerely just a former contractor.
@@henryfinlay4010 Yes sir, I understand that. It was just very hard for me because I worked so hard to get in and I got in and then I quit. I do know now that if I would have stayed and killed somebody because of my mistake, I wouldn’t be able to live with myself. I would rather take it slow and ease into it.
@@OfficialInnerCircle absolutely good sir. Now go get life and just be happy and good luck! Be the best you!
@@henryfinlay4010 I will do that. You do too. I’m creating goals and making a healthy life habit to make sure my life means something
It should be everyone’s mission to lend their expertise into their field and make it safer for everyone, regardless of industry.
I've been an EMT for 2 years now. But I've always been fascinated with the fire service. I have no interest in becoming a firefighter myself because I wouldn't be able to handle it. But I'm always interested by the training that you guys do. Thank you for everything you all have done especially those who do wildland fires! I bow down to you all for all the work you do! ❤🚒❤🚒❤🚒
Grateful for all you do, too!!
@@FireDeptCoffee thank you ❤️
@@FireDeptCoffee why aren't you going to record real footage, it would be cool
The first time you put on your bunker gear for a real world scenario is nerve wracking. You never forget that. One of our crew was critically injured by a falling ceiling that call. He survived, but was paralyzed from the hip down.
These guys and gals are truly tough as nails. I salute to all of them!
Only more practical training can bring you the skills you need out in the reality of the job!
Slow is fast. Words of wisdom
Slow is smooth, smooth is fast, is how it actually works
@@donnjb83 fireman challenges are the same way. You try and tell thr young ones tht slow is fast and most can't grasp it. They ill understand later but if people slow theor roll it does get fast by itself.
Holding a sparkler makes me nervous, I'm delighted there are brave people out there that choose to be firefighters ❤
Have served Aussie military and we trained for fire fighting and damage control every single day.
It took the loss of four sailors in HMAS Westralia for the heads of services to update SOP and equipment….
Thank you, as a non-firefighter, I both learned something, and gained wisdom I can apply in my personal life.
Excellent!
"Train as you fight, fight as you train." Go get 'em, boys.
We love you, firefighters! Stay safe out there!
Thanks for Your Service❗️Prayers ❣️🙏☺️
Awesome, very well shot and done. You guys just keep killing it.
We can't thank you enough!
Training takes over when the panic settles in.
This was awesome!
Thanks so much!
The work you first responders do is brave.
Love prayers and respect thank you
I wish north dakota would put in place standards for volunteer firefighters to just get the basics
I hope all the firefighters never risk their lives to save a property, only other lives.
I volunteer with Matt Goodner, legitimately one of coolest dudes ive ever met, he really does stand by what he says and makes sure he passes on his training to everyone he can
Thank you for saving our asses!!!
Hmm very interesting
🚒⚕️ stay safe brothers and sisters
Great training is the best. I was taught to not make my patients have to take care of me. 😊
💯💯💥💫
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I’ve been retired for three years and I miss every second of patient care and Fire Rescue. BEST JOB IN THE WORLD!
I remember my firefighter training. The second thing they told us was "don't do this"american Style". Don't be a Hero. Your own safety comes first."
The first thing they said was "You're not a soldier. Think for yourself, it can save your and your buddies Life"
Seals have a 60% chance of death
