  • What is up yall ?
    You are watching Episode 1 of my Modern Entryway Build series so SUBSCRIBE so you don't miss future episodes. In this video, we are going through how I created this super modern concrete and cedarwood bench. The ups and downs, Disasters, and beautiful outcome of the bench.
    This Has to be my most ambitious project to date, and I'm honestly blown away how it turned out. It was a lot of work and I'm grateful for the help that I got from my good friend Dustin (Dirty D).
    Having lived through this build I can honestly say it was a lot of work. A lot of ups and downs but well worth it. I also feel due to the awesome curb appeal my house now has, my property value has increased drastically.
    If were to give any advice it would be to brace and brace again. I felt i went overboad with my bracing but obviously not.
    I will be posting new episodes every Friday ( or at least ill try), and each one is better than the last.

    Yo dude. Just subscribed to your channel and have watched every video. I really like your stuff because it ranges between construction, fine wood working, and just overall cool shit. Your modern aesthetic is totally aligned with my taste. I just a new house and will be borrowing heavily from your videos. Keep up the radical work bro.

    Dirty D and almost a major blow out disaster...yep that pretty much covers every concrete job I’ve ever done!

    Wow, very impressive! Good detail with all the steps. Do you ever have back pain? If I can give some unsolicited advice that might help your back feel better... I see that your back is taking a lot of the stress of you bending over and moving dirt etc... It would help if you bend your knees and get your hips lower so your legs and butt support your back and torso, almost like squatting, engaging your butt. This provides you with more strength and force from your lower body and take the pressure off your spine and the upper body. Kinda like when you say that you would brace, brace, brace again if you did the project again... the legs and butt provide the bracing. Hope this is received as it is meant! I’ve been a person trainer for over 20 years...!

    4 years from now.
    Idk if you have tree around, tell me what does it look like to clean between the wood and concrete.
    With the kind of backyard i have, it sounds like a nightmare.

    does the wood absorb moisture underneath if it rains ? seems like it would unless the climate/environment is dry & sunny-- AZ, CA, etc...

    This was awesome but now I’m going to see if cinderblocks can simplify your whole cement bench

      @RadDadBuilds  3 роки тому +1

      Cinder blocks probably would be easier. Definitely less stressful.

    Thanks so much for this … just poured a similar project using your video as my guide. Based on other guidance I’ll wet cure it for 7 days. Do you recommend waiting the 2 weeks before removing the forms?

    Das hätte man auch komplett in holz machen können. Wäre günstiger gekommen.

    With today's lumber prices, that form will cost someone a second mortgage. Stout.

    It looks super stylish mate 👌 how would you maintain the cedar cap to keep it looking good?

    • @RadDadBuilds
      @RadDadBuilds  3 роки тому

      Thanks Dude, I made the cap so it comes apart in 3 sections so that I could easily store it during the nasty winter months. Also a quick sand and re stain would freshen it up when needed.
