I really miss these videoes. I still absolutely love the business knowledge but its still good for me to learn the craft tricks that I never learned at my design college.
I've been into graphic design for over 13 years now and this is literally the first lesson I see that explains in depth the process of creating simple lettering. There's so much disinformation online about that, and on the other hand the older typographic books that I have don't explain working with bezier curves, because *there weren't bezier curves back then*. So I've wondered for years and researched about should I pull the handles horizontally and vertically (and slanted with the direction of the typeface), instead of just pulling them in random angles. And honestly with the amount of crappy work online the answer wasn't always conclusive. This short video will save A LOT of time for a kid that is just starting out.
YES!!!!! I needed exactly this video for this project I'm doing right now. I was spending way too much time nudging each point trying to get the curves smooth as butter. This helps so much! THANK YOU!!!!!!
Hi the futur team and Chris, I follow your content since i found it for almost two months. I discovered the podcasts two days ago, and i want to thank you, especially for your meetings with Aron Draplin. You are both so different but also so genuine, honest and authentic it makes me super happy. Further and beyond. Cheers Gaudenz
Great stuff !!! It would be great to see case studies of some of your motion design projects as well. I have seen some of the mind blowing work on blind.
This is sooooo great. Thank you ... I'm kinda teaching myself Illustrator and Photoshop. Im 50+ and i just think I want to do something new and creative. Thank you for being a part of my learning process.
Another excellent video! One tip: if possible, put on the screen the shortcuts for both Mac and Windows operational systems, that would help a lot! I absolutely love your work Chris! Thanks for that. Hope to work with you in the (hopefully) near future... God bless you all! #1BillionPeople #PaycheckForChris
Treat your anchor points as if they are being placed on a clock at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 locations and your vector angles will be much cleaner. The goal should be to use the least number of points possible. Also try to constrain as many of the handles to the horizontals and verticals and drag the handles. The handles shouldn't be too long or you get wonky curves. - I need to give credit where it is due. I learned about the "clock method" from Designer/Illustrator Great, Von Glitschka.
Before they do, you can try to use something called the width tool (Shift-W), it allows the manipulation of thickness of path lines. Maybe you may find a style you like while experimenting?
Hey @chris thanks for all of your hardwork which will definitely pay off what you pursues. I kinda Wonder that you talking about the business of design at the sametime you focusing on the thing that what motivate you to keep moving things forward. Which really inspires me to take some “actions”. Thanks a lot. “Vision Without Execution is Hallucination” -Edison
Wwoww, hi!! I watched your ikigai video before and yesterday my typography professor just recommended your channel to us! She said that you're Vietnamese so i feel a little... connected 😂

the handles also should never cross each other

it's really awesome, thanks the future
WOw! It's very Cool.
Had my heart set on seeing you do the leg of the 'k', but wicked tutorial regardless! Many thanks
Try making the K yourself with what you learned. :-) I believe in you!
Can you guys do a video on all the shortcuts which can be used in illustrator at different points?
I am a beginner so that would help me a lot
Already have. But maybe we can make a new one.
Thanks Chris, this is a great stuff to get smooth line 😁👍
Impressive sir. I shall be thankful to you if you teach about making a thin/thick technique to apply on letters.
Before they do, you can try to use something called the width tool (Shift-W), it allows the manipulation of thickness of path lines. Maybe you may find a style you like while experimenting?
I've been following the futur for 3years and I've never seen this video before lol. very helpful thanks 😊
800 videos.
Sweet!
thanks!

awsome, do u have any video (or can u make one) about custom ghotic type?
we aren't the best at gothic typefaces.
great and great i miss it altime
Aww
Could we get this image you used to practice on possibly? So that there is something to compare the finished result to.
I’m kind of embarrassed that the sketch wasn’t very good. Maybe I can make a new one.
Wow, never knew what the sheer tool was. Always thought it was similar to scissors and thus I’ve never used it.
bring more tutorials
check out the Futur Academy channel for tutorials.
Could use the smoothing tool to get rid of any kinks too ?
Nah. Draw precisely.
Great work Chris ...is that Moley ?? is she back in the team ??
It is but she’s not.
Maaaaagiccc!))))
helpful
Wwoww, hi!! I watched your ikigai video before and yesterday my typography professor just recommended your channel to us!
She said that you're Vietnamese so i feel a little... connected 😂
Where do you go to school? Who is your type instructor?
When are appropriate times to use the curvature pen tool as opposed to the pen tool?
Any tool that works works
