Hello again, Jake! I just wanted to update you that I finally bought and installed both the JPRO and K1 for my 2016 Jeep Wrangler 2DR. A lot of my decision was based on your series of informative and useful videos (and comment responses)! Overall, I am very happy with the upgrades! :) There are certainly limitations, the products are far from polished, and as indicated by many others, the Customer Service is lacking. That being said, here are some thought that other viewers might find helpful: 1. For all the K1 users out there, the reason you "have" to use the BatMan Camera from Carobotor is because their harness uses 5V from the USB output and picks up the reverse signal from the CANBUS, while most after-market backup cameras require 12V power from the vehicle and you sometimes have to 'splice' into the actual reverse wire to activate the camera. That took me a while to figure out since my original camera (which I installed years ago) had the same physical connector, but didn't work when plugged into the K1 cable. I am not sure how you can easily work around that limitation, though, so I just installed the BatMan Camera. 2. Not all the features of the JPRO work, even with the one I just got last month. The Navigation and Media tabs are non-functional at this point. Most everything else works pretty well, and the dash display looks amazing in person - it brings a totally new and modern look/feel to the Jeep. It also looks like it belongs there, which is very cool. I like the JPRO dash display better than the factory one. 3. As indicated, the hardware seems well-made and durable. The software is another story. There are a lot of settings that you can adjust, but the descriptions are neither intuitive nor straightforward in a lot of cases. There is definitely something that "gets lost in translation." That being said, all of my base vehicle functions (remote lock/unlock, remote start, indicator lights, etc.) are all working correctly. I do have one 'quirk' that I have yet to resolve. I have a Trail Dash2 (monitor only) installed on the primary ODBII port. When it is plugged in (normal configuration), very randomly and intermittently, the Jeep horn will beep six (6) times (i.e., beep-beep pause beep-beep pause beep-beep) when the vehicle is started. It does not happen when the TD2 is unplugged, however, based on some limited testing on my part - very weird behavior. At least one other UA-camr has this same issue. Currently, I have no definitive cause or solution for this. My guess is that the JPRO is performing some kind for boot check, and finds a conflict on the ODBII port as the TD2 is starting at the same time. Maybe. LOL. 4. As for the K1, I am not totally in love with it. It looks great, and the overall appearance is very stylish (IMHO). That being said, my unit is very, very slow to load apps like Google Maps (hot spot connection to my phone), and randomly freezes/resets itself at various times for no apparent reason. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen enough to be annoying. Also, I cannot get Android Auto to work by simply plugging in my phone, like I can with my Wife's SUV. Because the K1 is essentially an Android tablet, I don't think it runs the version of Android Auto that is found in OEM Head Units. I have installed the phone version of the Android Auto App, but as you may know, Google is doing away with that soon. Again, the product itself seems well made, but the software leaves a lot to be desired. There haven't been any system updates that I am aware of, but Google sure does a lot of updating on its own. LOL. In the end, the whole package is very cool, and it brings a more modern feel to the Jeep. Just be aware of the limitations, and understand that Tech Support is very, very limited AND there is definitely a language barrier. In my opinion, this upgrade is best for those who are the most tech-savy, and have really good troubleshooting skills! But heck, if you aren't afraid to disassemble half your dash, then go for it! :) Jake...thanks again for the great videos! They are SO informative. Much appreciated! Keep on Jeepin'! :)
Nice dash. One question with the digital dash if it goes bad a year from now and I want to plug back my OEM dash will it work again and then pick up the miles from the cam bus where I left off if the digital dash goes bad, I don’t wanna have a jeep that I have to trash because I don’t have a way of putting back the oem dash

I just have one question for you if you’re sitting in a jeep and you have the speedometer OEM I heard you say you leave the far left small black plugged in when you’re transferring all the other data why is that? I’ve seen other videos where they unplugged everything to do the data transfer, just curious because I want to order mine soon
That’s a great question.. I would be lying I said I knew exactly why. I received directions directly from carobotor. If I were to take a guess, maybe to supply power? Not too sure on that one! I just know for me, I’ve always left it plugged in when installing these
It’s in the last module I believe when you scroll over. Selecting is weird and takes some getting use to. I’ll try to make a reel on it soon, Jeep is in the shop for paint so I’m just speaking off memory 😬
No there has been no update for maps, or anything with the cluster. I think it’s just too different of softwares that they won’t be able to communicate
@@only4jeeps571 ohh, that’s a bummer. 🫤 I noticed when I’m playing music on Spotify , the dash media screen only shows a Bluetooth icon, not the song name… integration not as comprehensive as I expected. I’m happy with mine, but it could be better….
@@dmelfa1 totally agree. Bluetooth music shows and radio. That’s all I can get working. Carobotor made a lot of false claims, and seem to be more focused on pumping out new product instead of perfecting what they have. Tis a shame

Does the oil pressure guage actually work with the JK? I was under the impression the bus (or wathever system component delivers this info) for the JK didnt ouput that info.
Hey can you maybe explain how you inserted the new buttons on the steering wheel? Also if you did the update for it yet? Going to install my J pro this week.
The new buttons are inserted by: -Removing power from battery under the hood -removing screws behind steering wheel -pulling airbag from wheel -removing remaining screw for steering wheel trim bezel -removing screws from oem buttons and unplugging -reassembling in reverse with new buttons installed I have updated the K1 and it worked fine for me, with no issues. I didn’t not update the Jpro as the main update only added a column for lighted vents which I don’t have or plan to purchase😬
I think aesthetic wise it’s great. I’ve had minor lags and glitches. However the customer service is terrible, and many people have had issues. If I swap it out/it dies, I will likely go with the kenwood with the wireless CarPlay.

@@timw3411 anytime! I’m running their products till they die and not going back unless they do better. If they focused on products at hand instead of making new stuff like the JL model stuff they would likely do better. Poor planning
I know this is outside of what was shown. I recently ordered my jpro/K1 along with turbo vents. Do you happen to know anything about syncing the jpro with the vent control?
I know there is an update that was sent for the Jpro to create a vent tab where it can be controlled. I don’t have the vents, so I can’t speak on that!
Hey Jake, would you be able to confirm that you can dim the actual lights so they’re not as bright during night time driving ? If so are they dimmed by the factory controls next the headlight switch that dims stock gauge and turns on some light ? Or only dimmed when headlights are turned on
Hey! The screen itself only dims within the settings of the unit and will auto adjust when the headlights come on. The K1 buttons do not adjust unfortunately. It’s either on or off
If it’s wired correctly, I’d say it’s defective and would need to have @corobotor replace it. There may be a work around my checking terminals behind the screen but I have not seen that done
Hi, Jake! Great video...thank you for posting it! I have a 2016 75th Anniversary Edition 2-Door that I still love just as much as I did on Day One! I've made a lot of modifications, and currently have a 10.1 Android Head unit that has it's share of flaws. I was considering the J-Pro and K1 upgrades, but CaRobotor's Customer Service leaves a bit to be desired (and the whole package is pretty expensive). :| I am wondering if you (or anyone on the channel) can help me with three (3) questions: 1). Does the J-Pro work with the Factory Remote Start Unit? This a big deal for me as I use that function all the time. I even modified my factory half-doors with power door locks to maintain that functionality (I don't even use the hard doors anymore). CaRobotor says "maybe" in response to that question, and it would be a deal-breaker for me if the Remote Start doesn't work - and I have seem some forum threads mention that it may not. Just wondering if anyone can confirm compatibility with the FACTORY Remote Start system? 2). Is the K1 compatible with standard backup cameras? I already have a spare tire reverse camera that is tied into the shifter electronics (only works in reverse) - it was one of the first modifications I made when I got Sarge. It works great and currently connects to the existing head unit using a standard video RCA-type connector. I don't really see a spot for "Video In" on their wiring diagram. Thoughts? And finally, 3). Does the K1 accept a standard cell carrier SIM card so that the vehicle becomes fully cellular? I currently use a wifi hotspot to connect my phone to my current head unit, but the connection is finicky, plus it's an extra step to turn on the hotspot and then connect the wifi. It tends to be intermittently annoying. I would rather just have the head unit be fully cellular. I have an Android phone, so functional Android Auto might be an OK alternative. Hey Bob from PA! I will do my best to address all your questions to the best of my knowledge. Yes the customer service can be difficult, however I know many people who are extremely knowledgeable on this device and can answer pretty much any question and they have taught me tons! 1. Yes the factory remote starts. Just did it again to confirm and it fires everything right up instantly with no issue whatsoever. 2. Yes other cameras outside of the Batman will work, and there are RCA Video ports, however I have not used them yet as the Batman and everything else works fine for me. I have seen other cameras installed but I personally have no seen the RCA video plugged in with a back up though I’m sure I can do some digging and find out for you! 3. Yes cellular sims will work and so will hotspot for internet on the K1. I believe T-Mobile sims work best for unit. I have unlimited phone data, so I have no had a need to use the sim but again I know many people who have and they have not relayed any negatives with it to me yet! Is there a way to get my dome light to come on when I open my door and the back light on all my buttons and trim seems a lot dimmer now does any one know any fixes?
This company has no customer service. I wouldnt waste your money on this stuff. I bought my Jpro in 2019 and it went out 2 years and 7 months. They told me that I needed to pay 400 bucks to swap it out. They told me that there was only a 2 year warranty on it which was posted nowhere until I reported them to the BBB. Now they posted it on the website. Then I bought the K1 last year and that is also junk. The android auto will not work unless you have a cable and it only works half the time. If you have a system the subwoofers make a loud boom when you switch from input to input and when you turn on your Jeep and turn off your Jeep. The backup camera works only half the time. Oh, and you cant listen to your local radio stations if you are in apple carplay or android auto. I have emailed them so many times with no help at all.
I put both these in my 2011 Call of Duty Black Ops Rubicon 2 years ago and they are the best upgrade I have ever made in my Jeep!

After installation, now my dome lights & cigarette lighter not coming on. Suggestions?

Found out it was the dimmer nob on the left side of the wheel. It controls the strip light to turn on off, dim.

Does it show your lockers and sway bar info on the dash?
Yes if you have a rubicon. You have to select the rubicon model when ordering. After market lockers will not display
Does it dim low enough for driving at night?
Yes plenty dim at Home Screen and darker Apple CarPlay backgrounds. The white backgrounds are a bit too bright
is there a microphone?
No it uses the factory one!
