Guillermo del Toro version of Pinocchio. That one is Canon dad geppetto lost the Son. And was reincarnated into Pinocchio. And also the only two good remakes in my opinion is beauty and the beast and the jungle book
Pinocchio is Geppetto's way of coping with the loss of Wilson. After years of being lost at sea and talking to nobody but a ball, he finds it difficult to form meaningful relationships with other humans. Ultimately, he made himself another inanimate object to talk to, left it at his steps, and was surprised to see it had disappeared. What's the first thing he does when he loses his new Wilson? Go back into his raft and out into the sea to look for it, where he fantasizes that his puppet boy actually went full astroboy and saved him from a whale. When he wakes up, his puppet boy asks him to "walk into the light" with him because he clearly died. yeah i went there
This seems to be the year of Pinocchio 😅 The only live action remake I’ve seen is beauty and the beast. The puppet’s voice sounds exactly like the original
A year of completely phony sentiments propelling chronic liars to great publicity, unveiling the world to be full of chronic inequity yet seeking to do nothing but just get by, and with everyone in a position to actually do something about problems being more concerned with trying to live with the privileges and worldview of a little boy. Yeah...sounds about right.
Tangent: Did anyone actually watch the Lady & the Tramp remake that came out with the launch of Disney+? No one ever speaks about it, even if they dedicate months of thinkpieces at a time to bashing remakes.
I wish they made a new “The black Cauldron” movie but a version with actors. I’d also love to see “The princess & the goblin” - for years I mixed both films up as they are similar lol 😅 💖💖💖
Okay, but a new Black Cauldron has POTENTIAL. That movie really got the short end of the stick runtime wise with almost ten minutes cut, so expanding the run time to two hours would really make room to smooth over the rushed character development, and they have a wealth of books to pull from for added elements. And the darker tone would suit a high fanatsy epic or more serious take (which is what I think they wanted for Mulan, they just botched it.) I'd just want them to stick to practical effects for The Horned King, there would be a lot of chances for some really cool visuals. And since it's such an underrated classic no one is going to complain about their childhood being ruined if it goes badly.
People would share the same bed, Even random people off the street would share the bed when letting someone stay a night. Some homes had a mattress over the fireplace oven used in the bead of winter. Some had floor mattresses like in Japan they would use around the bed for helper
Opening the remake can of worms, I firmly believe, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." There are GOOD remakes out there, but they don't just repeat everything in the original. Indeed, often a good remake is of a bad, and/or forgotten movie. One of my favorite remakes is You've Got Mail. It modernized and updated the originals. It is a remake of In the Good Old Summertime, which was itself a color musical remake of The Shop Around the Corner. The Disney remakes, less than an improvement to the originals.
So, this is a solid enough theory, but he does mention having a wife a couple times. That's why he doesn't sell his clocks. And he also gets a note from Sophia The Seagull telling him Pinnochio is on Pleasure Island, hence, the boat. The live action version also features a montoge that implies a longer period of time then one day between Pinnochio's birth and being sent to school. Nothing else about his choices makes sense, and I do agree that it seems like it's been a while between his son's death and him carving Pinnochio.
I believe geppetto had a wife and a son but his wife died before his son died an I do believe that his son turned into a donkey an that’s how he lost his son. Which made geppetto make a puppet in memory of his son since he already has the clocks to remember his wife. Also when the seagull Sofia tells him that Pinocchio when to pleasure island, geppetto gets very worried so worried that he sells his clocks to try an save Pinocchio from the same faith his son had did. But what do I know it’s just a theory
@@marisolsanchez3263 but I do Wonder why he wouldn't have saved his Real son first if he turned into a donkey, since he imediatly saved Pinocchio right After learning he was on the Island? I doubt he wouldn't have made the same for his Real boy
@@delireent.3960 So I'm just gonna role with this theory and chime in with reasons he maybe didn't save his donkey kid. It's very possible he tried, but it seems like the coachman has the kids ready for shipping very quickly. Meaning if Gepetto wasn't there within hours his son, who is now a donkey and indistinguishable from all the other donkeys has been sold off to any number of places. He also didn't actually get there in time to rescue Pinnochio, he was still out sailing by the time Pinnochio made it home. Which lends some credence to the theory cause he set out right away. If he didn't know where his son had gone initially, and didn't have a seagull to drop a clue, he probably would have spent more time looking on land before figuring out pleasure island was involved at at.
@@marisolsanchez3263 I like the Donkey theory, I like it a lot! Although I would point out the original movie at least implied Pleasure Island was at least a little known, given Foulfellow's reaction. So it might just be that the place has a dangerous reputation and is already linked to child dissapearances.
Actually I've had a thought Re: The Kid in the picture looks awfully young. It's entirely possible his son died more recently then that photo was taken. My mom still has pictures of me from when I was a kid in her room and on the walls in her house even though I'm thirty now. So it's quite possible his son grew up has been taking care of his weird agorophoic dad then died tragically and that's the loss he's coping with.
Grew up on 1990s live action adaptation of 101 Dalmatians and Jungle Book. Saw live action Beauty & The Beast definitely prefer the animated one. The 1996 adaption of Pinocchio scared me as a kid more than Glen Close as Curela!! I'm optimistic about the Little Mermaid live action might be surprisingly well made. Found your channel because of our mutual love of Coraline!
I'll stick with the Pee-Wee Herman live action Pinocchio and the upcoming Del Toro film thanks. The critiques I've been watching have been very entertaining though lol
So far I've wached only one of Disney's remake movies from the beginning to the end, that one being The Jungle Book - which was okay, I guess. As for the rest of them... I've always preferred cartoons over life-action (or uncanny valley CGI), so they really don't have a much to give to me. (My sister also likes Aladdin and Dumbo remakes.)
That he doesn’t have more rooms and such is not strange at all, back in the days many people couldn’t afford big houses with several rooms. Often the entire family lived together in just 1 room . Also even he would have had a bed for his lost son he might have sold it to get money to survive. Is it so hard to believe that just about 100y ago people struggled even in what was todays modern cities?
I judge the remakes on a case by case basis, most fall flat, some are terrible, and a few are good. My favorites are Cinderella, Aladdin, and Beauty & the Beast
I have a fan theory: Gepetto's son didn't die by an illness. He maybe went to Pleasure Island. Maybe he was kidnapped by the Coachman, and being the innocent kid he was, he was also peer pressured to go. Gepetto specifically says - when he goes to search for Pinocchio - that the last time he did that was when he... he doesnt end his sentence, but who knows, maybe he was referring to the time he was searching for his first son. When Gepetto sees the Pleasure Island poster he freaks out. That means people know what a terrible place it is. Gepetto might have heard those rumors and his reaction might be a "Not Again" sentiment as he also believed that this was the cause his biological son disappeared. And lastly, i believe that his wife Constanza might had died of her sorrow about this situation. Sad.
I normally don't like live action movies. As i feel that in the live action movies try to hard to move away from the main source of the original movie. I'm not sure if anyone else feels that way but i know i do when it comes to movies like this one. However for this live action movie Pinocchio. I actually really enjoyed this movie so much.
I don't plan on watching this movie. I don't watch any of the live action remakes anymore. Especially after Lion king. I also thought it was weird that Jepetto sent him to School immediately after he became real. Like, why would you do that?
I think hairless cats would be good for loss, you have to give them baths put clothes on them as a cat is 105F with fur but they or 98F , They follow you cry if they can not see you , they sleep with you all night pressed on you. they act like dogs but way more need-e , They tap you then a blanket telling you to put it on them.
Wow, what a complicated remake. I haven't seen the Tom Hanks version and never plan to. Especially after this. Seems like he's going through the motions of a plot we're supposed to already know. Until you look at it like you have. The version by Matteo Garrone looks interesting. 2020.
The CGI looked terrible. This remake was not necessary. Honestly, I would have liked to see a film from the view of the Coachman. We don't know anything about him, how he turns kids into donkeys, or his motives (apart from greed).
According to a line of dialogue, Geppetto did have a wife. He mentions that he made the clocks for her and how she loved them. This theory is admittedly interesting, but unfortunately, it's not supported by the text of the film.
0:10 I respect The Jungle Book, Cinderella, Dumbo and 101 Dalmations (counts) _slightly_ as they're at least attempting ANYTHING substantively different, even if I don't care for them (can't vouch for Pete's Dragon). The rest are straight-up trash, and I do not have high hopes for the mermaid.
The lying king one was terrifying terrifying the Aladdin was good you need to make a wonderful 1 101 Dalmatian Into live action an They need to make In a live action version of the black Colton
Pinocchio loos like the very cheaply designed character from a 90's CD-ROM that came "for free" with an expensive kids magazine. Where the advertising cover art looked really cool, but it was really just a lame hidden object game in which said character only spoke 1 of 3 generic sentences every 5 min or so...sometimes it'd just repeat it on a loop. Dear animation gods, have you forsaken us?! 😢
I cannot stand live action remakes really, like make something more original please, there are so many many stories out there or ya could make a new one.
I'm particularly tired of seeing Pinocchio redone over and over again. I get that it's in the public domain, but it has been an endless stream of the same plot since the 90s.
Gepetto said that he made his clocks for his wife, and she loved them, and that's why they're his most special creation. So yes, he did have a wife.
Guillermo del Toro version of Pinocchio. That one is Canon dad geppetto lost the Son. And was reincarnated into Pinocchio. And also the only two good remakes in my opinion is beauty and the beast and the jungle book
I liked Alice in Wonderland. But then again, it was more of a live action sequel.

And it's only the 1800s because he's lost his sanity and he's living in a delusion 😱

Oh this theory was a tragedy for this old classic movie
And as much Tom Hanks is popular but I prefer the classic movie instead of the live action

we aren't sure if Pinocchio becomes a real boy at the end because, imo, he hasn't been tested yet. he didn't really do anything naughty/bad.
Pinocchio becomes a real boy, see clear his arms and his legs.

The Disney live action remakes feel so hollow and lifeless
The classism is real. Men have their whole life to settle down, perhaps he did lose both recently because he married a young woman.
