How to replace a tire Valve Stem without special tools at home

  • I will show you how to change a car wheel valve at home without any special tools - no tire mounting machine needed. Using only basic and primitive tools. To remove the valve stem core, I used just a cap that screws onto the other valve stem to give more leverage, but only pliers can be used instead. Super quick and 0 cost DIY valve replacement.

    IMPORTANT! 1:00
    This is not special tool! This is simple valve stem cap, usually founded on bicycles.
    If you don't have this type of cap, use small needle nose pliers, or cut slot in nail or something similar.
    Thank You!

      Order a pack of those caps from Amazon and put one on every vehicle you have, so you always have one handy. The tire store always steals mine, and they hit rocks and get damaged, so I put one only on the jeep spare.

    Very good video, but people should be aware that motor oil will harm the tyre valve. The tyre valve is a mix of rubber and neoprene which can be harmed over time by oil. Would strongly recommend the use of soapy water which is just as effective & dries out giving a seal that will last without any harmful effects.

    Top video, many thanks from me in Edinburgh, job done. My purchases - valve stems and a Silverline make 4 way tyre valve repair tool to loosen/tighten the tyre valve and to attach to the new valve stem to pull it into place: Total cost £3. I already had a cheap tyre inflation compressor that runs from the 12v socket in the car. Issues - all went well until I tried to rebead the tyre but couldn't get air in fast enough to reseat it. Solution - raised up the side of the tyre opposite the valve 6 inches so that the wheel was clear of the ground. Then started the compressor and stood on the wheel on the unbeaded section and bounced gently up and down pushing the wheel downwards into place. As I did this the tyre quickly started to take air and popped into place. P.S. For those considering using the alternative replacement method using the tool that punches a new valve in without having to unbead the tyre. It will work if you have steel wheels but i'm not if you have alloys due to the access hole for the valve being recessed.

    A side note, since there's no actual sound there... A hissing sound and quite strange smell (to some) will be present when you remove the valve core. Another is, a popping sound of the tire when it seats right to the rim (sometimes very loud) which might surprise some peopl who knows nothing about what they're doing 😁. Good info here. Yeah no special tool! Only simple press tool! LOL

    • @Work_G
      @Work_G  5 років тому

      That "special tool" as you call is bike valve stem CAP. I wouldn't call that special because almost everybody have that and if not it cost cents. You can unscrew that valve with needle nose pliers or buy real special tool which use tyres shops both ways you spend much more than I show in this video. Be realistic in YT there is mutch more clickbait...

      GetWork he was talking about the press used to break the bead of the tire im pretty sure

      @Work_G  5 років тому

      @@bballkid7409 pfff :D To break the bead that is simple brick and emergency car jack, which can be find in almost every car trunk :D

      In this video I didn't use any of special valve stem removal tools that tyres shops use....

      So a pair of pliers and a valve stem remover are "special" tools to you ??

  • @bettsjb36
    @bettsjb36 3 роки тому +1

    “Without special tools” - uses valve stem removal tool. Most people would consider that a special tool and wouldn’t have it around.

    This definitely doesn't work with a plastic valve stem. I tried it in a pull the nail right out

    • @Work_G
      @Work_G  2 роки тому

      You can pull it with pliers, but be careful don't damage threads or rubber part

    No special tools huh? Ugh what about the tool you used to break the bead? I don't even know what that was that you used. Therefore, to me it looks like a special tool. Especially considering i don't know the name or how to even use it properly.

    • @Work_G
      @Work_G  2 роки тому

      That was brick with simple emergency jack which can be found in almost any car... And if you dont imagine how to use basic tools you probably shouldn't work on your car.

    Nice video on the how to. Crappy music though. Would much rather listen to Truman Capote narrate how to do this job than listen to that atrocious "music".
