Follows I-90 Westbound in a series of clips from Livingston to Butte Montana, crossing the Continental Divide along the way. Music and equipment FAQ's are in the closing credits.
Thanks FreewayJim! Had a son go to school at Montana State in Bozeman so drove between Livingston and Bozeman multiple times a year! Great memories and great video!
So thankful for this channel! These videos were exactly what I was looking for, just pure driving showing the beauty of this wonderful country. No vlogging or anything unnecessary. You rock Jim!
The way the Rockies stands across the horizon unbroken is very imposing and impressive. It truly demonstrates the sheer majesty of the range! Thanks Jim for your excellence!
Lovely video on beautiful day. I have to make this exact drive tomorrow Jan 15, 2021 except it's Winter storm Malcolm moving east on this westbound road in white out conditions last night. When the highway opens up I wont be as nervous about it. This mountain road isnt what I imagined at all. Thanks for it, years later of course.
Montana still remains my favorite state that I've been too. The real beauty of the state is off the Interstate. Beartooth Highway and Going-to-the-Sun Road come to mind.
Love this part of I-90. We drove this road every year between 1958-1973, driving between the Pacific NW and visiting family in the Midwest. Before I-90 was US 10 and it was a slow go over Pipestone Pass (Continental Divide). Love the view dropping into Butte! Great video, great tunes!
Sad to hear the passing of Dolores O’Riordan today. Such a beautiful voice, one of my favorite singers of the ‘90s. Had to watch this today to hear her do a wonderful Fleetwood Mac cover.
The quality of the video is so excellent.Man it is like riding in the front seat with you!And for anyone watching this, check out his whole collection .Some are worth seeing again😊
These songs go even better with I 81 in Virginia, I listened to them on that road and they were perfect. Without these songs, I would have not had the right music for I 81 in VA. Thank you for playing these tracks!
I know I'm late to comment but this is one of my favorite Freeway Jim videos. In the Top 10 for me. The soundtrack is great, the scenery is even better.
Montana is my 2nd Favorite State after Wyoming.....Both Wide open spaces, gorgeous Natural Scenery and both can call themselves "God's Country".......Bob Fox, Laguna Beach, Ca. USA
Very nice ride through Montana, and a good soundtrack too! Montana turly is big sky country, plus the mountains are always awesome! I always loved mountain highways for the turns, the views, etc! Very nice ride!
Wow, that was excellent, amazing, breathtaking, incredible and fantastic. Montana is the best on video. The music fit everything perfectly. Thanx for posting this.
I think the reason for this is by the time I-90 heads into Wyoming eastbound, traffic can already have split off onto I-94 back in Billings. But Montana is where I-94 ends on I-90. This I think merges westbound long distance traffic for both I-90 and I-94 onto I-90, causing more traffic.
I have traveled I5 from Seattle all the way to the other end of California when I was a kid and I have driven from one end to the other in Montana about 6 times. Great drives...I want to do old Route 66 (at least what’s left of it) and Highway 1 up the Pacific coast.
Drove from Billings to West Yellowstone a few weeks ago-really cool to see you drive down the same road we went on before. US-14 from Yellowstone to Sheridan, WY is a really nice drive too.
Man...that was a superb presentation, which we your fans have come to know and love. I knew Montana was large but not #4 large. I always learn something new from your channel. Ever thought of driving around Mississippi? It's a beautiful state.
Thank you! I've driven through Miss on I-10 and I-20, not much worth filming, I tried to get I-110 in Biloxi but got rained out in 2015. I'm sure there are some nice back roads but it's just not high on my list of places to explore.
Well-weathered leather Hot metal and oil The scented country air Sunlight on chrome The blur of the landscape Every nerve aware........ Rush is the greatest road trip music of em all.
I watched this again this morning. This was an excellent drive. Worth the second view. When you first started this hobby, did you ever think that you would end up in Montana one day?
Thank you, it was a great drive in person as well....LOL, no, not really, looking back I'm kind of amazed we went as many places as we did in just a few years span.
14 minutes passed by so quickly. I was ready for more when you reached Butte, not realizing it was already the end :) I had always wondered, "Why do bugs seem love to splat themselves to your windshield? I have never had such problem." But, after doing my own (and first) *SUMMER* road trip last month, well... I finally got my answer...
TheSolarcatcher I know! I had always traveled in winter and never had any bug problem. Finally got my own share of bug splatters on my last summer trip lol.
Thanks, glad you liked the ride. The bugs never been an issue for me in California or the desert areas, or in Seattle and Portland for that matter, but inland in the mountains it's a big problem, it's really bad in New England as well.
If there's a song tailored for a band that didn't play it in the first place, it must be Go Your Own Way for The Cranberries! Really impressed. Also, the cover picture was amazing, you should think about printing them or something -if you don't do it already!
It's a great continent and the wide sky is amazing. But no place in your mountains is as beautiful as the beauty of Norway. If you have ever seen it.... you know what I mean. Nothing in the world that I have seen compares to it. I have not been to the Himalayas. I hear thay are grand. Too grand to visually embrace in most places.
Great Video Jim I liked how you used Fleetwood Mac in the beginning and you were the only car on the road for some part of the video and on 3:53 iI've seen on Wikipedia
honestly the 90 between spokane and your video is one of my favourites non urban highways.. cos I love the mountaims, smetimes there are parts which are a bit more flat but overall it's one of the coolest, even though I've never been there... the 70 in colorado, the 5 from la to near bakersfielf, the in south oregon, the 90 from seattle to ellensburg are some other favourites... just saying.. were insects in the windshield the annoying thing you mentioned? I jist though it would have been that...
Awesomely, spectacular video (FreewayJim), I wish you would have started it with the original performers of (Go your own way "Fleetwood Mac" my favorite group, the hillside and the mountain scenery still placed me in a state of Aw!!!
Thanks, many Fleetwood Mac songs are not safe to use in these videos so I went with the next best thing. Yeah it's a pretty awesome drive through Montana, that was my first and only time.
That might have been just my preference, not considering the legal issues you may have faced if you did use the original artist.. Good choice anyway because it didn't take any of the sensation away from the video..
Many years ago Montana had a "reasonable but prudent" speed limit. Other than that great video, quality is amazing.

Awesome video quality for 5.5 years ago! Thanks for the video. Beautiful part of the country.
Thank you!
Your videos are a cure for anxiety!!
So thankful for this channel! These videos were exactly what I was looking for, just pure driving showing the beauty of this wonderful country. No vlogging or anything unnecessary. You rock Jim!
Thank you for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoy the channel.
Who doesn't love a helping of Cranberries in the morning?!? That was simply awesome!! Just awesome all around!!!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
The way the Rockies stands across the horizon unbroken is very imposing and impressive. It truly demonstrates the sheer majesty of the range!
Thanks Jim for your excellence!
Thank you very much for watching!

I'm sure there is A LOT to see off the Interstate there, definitely a beautiful state.
Oh most definitely! Did you stop for McDonald's in Livingston? :D I did that too when I passed thru in 2014! xD
LOL, yes!
My grandpa was just ordering a iced tea and he was shocked when they asked for $1.00 flat. He forgot Montana had no sales tax!

Yeah it was sad about Dolores: and Christine McVie in Nov 22.
The quality of the video is so excellent.Man it is like riding in the front seat with you!And for anyone watching this, check out his whole collection .Some are worth seeing again😊
Thank you!
I can't be the only one that comes back to watch Jim's videos a 2nd or even 3rd time can I?
Glad you enjoy them!
i pray to god to bless this man and his channel infinitely.. i truly love his videos, they are amazing.....
Thank you for the kind comment and for watching!

Cool
I’m from Montana then I moved to Utah. This video helped bring back memories of driving that road.
Driven this stretch dozens of times now, being a Montana resident. Love the views. Not as fun in the winter though...
I don't imagine it is, I would want no part of that :)
I know I'm late to comment but this is one of my favorite Freeway Jim videos. In the Top 10 for me. The soundtrack is great, the scenery is even better.
Thank you!
Thanks for the ride thru Montana, lovely, lovely country. But a bit lonesome too.
Thank you for watching!
Hearing Priest brings back some great road trip memories from the 80's, excellent selection old chap!
Thank you very much!
and that Cranberries doing "Go Your Own Way" was an interesting treat. :)
Wonderful scenery!
Montana is my 2nd Favorite State after Wyoming.....Both Wide open spaces, gorgeous Natural Scenery and both can call themselves "God's Country".......Bob Fox, Laguna Beach, Ca. USA
You deserve many million subscribers!! Thanks for your videos

Never been across 90 so thank u that was outstanding rush worked out really well again thank u.
Be safe out there America
When you have a Rush song in a video , it's a perfect video ! Thanks for the excellent choice of songs here with a very beautiful landscape !
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
Rest In Peace, Neil Peart.
So THAT'S what I-90 looks like through the Continental Divide. Amazing!
It's even higher than its highest elevation in my state!
Beautiful Video.Being from the Northeast, the lack of traffic blows my mind.Just Semi-trucks and the occasional car.
Thanks, makes for some fun driving :)
Awesome video, beautiful scenery. It's a dream to move there one day.
Thank you!
Very nice ride through Montana, and a good soundtrack too! Montana turly is big sky country, plus the mountains are always awesome! I always loved mountain highways for the turns, the views, etc! Very nice ride!
Thank you much!
I love this stretch! I'm sure I felt my ears pop going over the continental divide!
Great clip. Think I have watched all your videos. Thanks for posting. Loving my vicarious tour of the US. Maybe, some day I will get over there.
Thank you for watching and I hope you do!
Montana is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen with mountains B-)
Wow, that was excellent, amazing, breathtaking, incredible and fantastic. Montana is the best on video. The music fit everything perfectly. Thanx for posting this.
Thank you! glad you enjoyed it.
This is up there with one of my favorite videos by you Freewayjim! I like the rural drives in particular.
Thank you very much, I have some rural drives coming once we leave Portland.
There is so much yummy vegetation to graze on for ovines, and the scenery is top notch. Bravo.
LOL, Thanks!
a very nice channel indeed takes away my sorrow
Glad you enjoy it, thanks for watching.
Awesome video once again! Incredible Scenery! Loved hearing rush in this one
Thank you!
Awesome video! Montana is a beautiful state. I noticed that there seems to be more truck traffic on I-90 in Montana than in Wyoming.

Bravo, Bravo! Homestake pass *was* a blast, and you captured all of the fun and excitement that we experienced in July, Jim!
Thank you much, yes it was a fun part of the drive for sure.
I have traveled I5 from Seattle all the way to the other end of California when I was a kid and I have driven from one end to the other in Montana about 6 times. Great drives...I want to do old Route 66 (at least what’s left of it) and Highway 1 up the Pacific coast.
Great video! I've driven as far west Rapid City, SD.....you've just inspired me to push further west!
Thank you, it gets better/prettier/more interesting the further west you go from Rapid City, well worth doing.
Awesome video and music, many thks Jim!
Thank you very much!
Beautiful!
Beautiful ride in Big Sky country it was great to see on the big screen with the 5.1 surround sound on
The preferred way to fly :) thanks.
Beautiful landscape video.
Thank you!
Thanks, for another great video Freewayjim! btw thanks for using Rush!
Thanks for watching!
Don't know what it is about Montana, but i love seeing those tree filled mountains
Drove from Billings to West Yellowstone a few weeks ago-really cool to see you drive down the same road we went on before. US-14 from Yellowstone to Sheridan, WY is a really nice drive too.
Thank you!
Loved the scenery!
Thanks, it was a great drive.

Oh yes my favorite Judas Priest song at 4:19 ! Excellent road song ! And as always excellent video by an excellent channel !
Thank you very much!
Montana is amazing in so many ways including the views.
I definitely is!
I used to drive this stretch in the 1990s when there was no daytime speed limit (and I used to live in Germany). Now, that was fun.
its amazing how those big rig guys can keep it constantly between the lines,
This was more enjoyable than season 8 of Game Of Thrones.......
LOL! thank you for watching!
Awesome! Thank you! Love the speed limit 👍
Thank you!
Thanks for the ride!
Thanks for watching!
amazing as always, its like im driving while blasting some kick ass old school music :)

Another awesome video, MT really lives up to its name
Thank you!
Youre welcome, I've never been out to MT but I would love to make it out there someday
Awesome video!!!

Love those lyrics
Keep up the great work! I would to visit MT!
Thank you
When I was driving through Utah on I-15 and I-70 I noticed that the rural area speed limit(outside the construction zones) was also 80 MPH.
beautiful!
Thank you!
great vid, I remember when I first drove thru montana in '98 there was no speed limit,
like the filter effect @ 10:12 - 10:16
Thank you!
Good timing with the train around 2:50!
Happy accident
Actually the back end of that train comes into view @ 2:28 after passing the truck.
Great ride Jim. Something I'd have to try someday. If only there was a fast forward to Montana from Illinois.
Thanks, LOL...yeah, that's almost two days of driving that really doesn't stir the soul although Wyoming and Western SD are pretty interesting.
Great video drive Jim!!!
Thank you Maureen!
Wow Montana is so scenic!!
Very much so!
Awesome music. selection thanks eh
Thank you!
If you played Red Barchetta during all of your videos, I wouldn't complain! ;-)
14 minutes passed by so quickly. I was ready for more when you reached Butte, not realizing it was already the end :)
I had always wondered, "Why do bugs seem love to splat themselves to your windshield? I have never had such problem." But, after doing my own (and first) *SUMMER* road trip last month, well... I finally got my answer...
When you're in the open that problem happens. And then the bugs splattered on your car create magnet for others.
The landscape is so green...
An amazing stretch of interstate indeed. I cant wait till the day I get to go and drive it myself. And great video, as always!
Thank you!
I have to say, some of those curves are pretty tight for 75 and 80mph speed limits! great video!
Thank you!

I've seen videos, Norway does look amazing.
@@Freewayjim Norway has speed limits of 90-100 km/h (55-65 mph) on its rural highways though lol. Still would be great though probably
Great Video Jim I liked how you used Fleetwood Mac in the beginning and you were the only car on the road for some part of the video and on 3:53 iI've seen on Wikipedia

Yes, the insects were a big issue for us through Montana.
Awesome
Thank you!
Nice ride
Thanks!
Thumbs up for The Cranberries. One of my favorite groups and I'm 60 years old. Thanks Freeway Jim for the ride along to a state I have never been too.
Thank you for watching!
Great video. Stunning landscape. Though I missed the song Montana by Frank Zappa
Thank you, I don't think that song would work very well with this type of video, that's forcing a square peg into a round hole IMO.
Great video
Thank you!
Awesomely, spectacular video (FreewayJim), I wish you would have started it with the original performers of (Go your own way "Fleetwood Mac" my favorite group, the hillside and the mountain scenery still placed me in a state of Aw!!!

Judas Priest 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 hell yeah 😎😎 perfect perfect song!!
Thank you!
@@Freewayjim one of my favorite bands ever.
I just saw them live, in November last year here in little Loveland CO.
😃😃😃
Well done Freeway Jim. 👊🏻Which video editor do you use?
Thank you, I use Final Cut Pro X, my gear is listed in the closing credits.
Thunderhead straight ahead at :34. :)

I would recommend Frank Zappa "Montana" as a Montana (or elsewhere) road song
