More specifically Dispensationalism. While it's certainly the dominant view now, unfortunately, there are still quite a few historic premils, amiss, and postmils who have been fighting against this for quite some time. Hopefully thay hermeneutic will fall by the wayside. It's not all protestants, but it is a lot of us unfortunately. Civil War didn't help and Scofield's reference bible did a lot to popularize it. Until that time, nobody held to this view.

As a Muslim, I’ve been trying to understand the Christian position following evangelical Zionists. It seems that having one book with two different religions is causing confusion. Old testaments verses are being used to justify the state of Israel and even one told me that the Jews are blessed and still in the covenant. Doesn’t make sense to me why they claim Jesus needed to die for salvation is the Jews can just have it? And cling on to the point about them converting? That doesn’t make sense as don’t you want everyone to convert? Isn’t the church israel? I think Catholics and Orthodox study the creed better and seem to be more consistent. But I can see from the comments some still disagree. Anyone can say they are blessed people but you have to see how they behave. I was brought up in the Church of England and got disconnected with its theories as I got older. I don't belong to any other church. I've not stopped believing In God or the words of Jesus. I just find the Protestant church to be lacking. I keep my faith in my house my Bible at my side and listen to no popery, I speak to him and the saviour of Jesus any time I want. don't give biblical scripture's or rants against 1 faith or another. Zionism carries its unique problems, i agree. But it is only a manifestation of nationalism, indeed patriotism. Patriotism as the word implies , is rooted in the theology of family and in geographical location, home, thus, homeland. Catholic theology is essentially incarnational. St Thomas Aquinas reasons this so well, as you must know. In any discussion of the current Palestinian crisis we must first see that this is the key issue. I don't really know what 'replacement theology' is. It sounds like a Protestant name for a variation on classic Catholic teaching. Or else it is a term coined to describe something crude that does not give space for the universality of God's Plan. If it helps, below is a passage from my book coming out next month. It is meant to show that the translation from the Old Covenant to the New is like a baby being born after nine months in the mother's womb. Has that baby been replaced? No. Has it been superseded? That would be a strange way of talking. It is one being, as God's religion is one religion. Before Christ it existed in a certain obscurity, in fetters (of the Law). With Christ it is born into the light, into freedom (of charity). The Old Covenant was in the blood of animals which cannot remit sin. The New and Eternal Covenant is in the Blood of Jesus Christ, redeeming us unto eternal life. Here's the passage -- hope it helps:
"What is the Law of Moses worth today? Everything and nothing. Everything in Christ, nothing without Him. Many say that God cannot annul the Old Covenant, for He does not change His mind. This is to misunderstand His eternal decrees, wherein the whole process of change is foreseen in advance and unfolds in time. Nature frequently involves a passing over of singularities: sharp and irreversible developments from one state to another. A butterfly does not revert to a crawling caterpillar. A branch burnt to ashes cannot be brought back to a living state. A supernova, an explosion of light, cannot be reversed. A man cannot climb back into his mother’s womb. As a Muslim, I’ve been trying to understand the Christian position following evangelical Zionists. It seems that having one book with two different religions is causing confusion. Old testaments verses are being used to justify the state of Israel and even one told me that the Jews are blessed and still in the covenant. Doesn’t make sense to me why they claim Jesus needed to die for salvation is the Jews can just have it? And cling on to the point about them converting? That doesn’t make sense as don’t you want everyone to convert? Isn’t the church israel? I think Catholics and Orthodox study the creed better and seem to be more consistent. But I can see from the comments some still disagree.

I was brought up in the Church of England and got disconnected with its theories as I got older. I don't belong to any other church. I've not stopped believing In God or the words of Jesus. I just find the Protestant church to be lacking. I keep my faith in my house my Bible at my side and listen to no popery, I speak to him and the saviour of Jesus any time I want. don't give biblical scripture's or rants against 1 faith or another.
