15:04 - I actually saw this in another video recently, and commented there as well. It's something I've run into when making music levels (frequently using music blocks in different ways). The simple explanation is probably just that when an enemy or item lands on both a music block *and* ground at the same time, the ground portion doesn't allow the enemy/item to depress downward before bouncing up, as it would normally. The result is that it actually is launched upward the same amount, but the height at which the upward launch starts is higher than if it was just a note block without ground. Added odd fact: A music note that's played in that way (enemy half on music block, half on ground) actually plays earlier than an identically timed note that just lands on the half of a music block (with the ground block removed). You can easily see this for yourself if you just set up an enemy to walk off an edge and land on either half of a music block, then copy/paste it on the same screen at a different height (so the tone is different) but with a ground block added on the side the enemy falls on. Just press play, and voila.
Imagine it in a troll level, you can easily make a player duck by throwing something at them after they've gone through a door/pipe, so have an off-screen thwomp in clown car yeet them up into a softlock lol
I just got finished explaining exactly that in a separate comment, as I've run into this thing many times when making music levels. You nailed it, exactly right. :-)
Uno Mas does not mean 'unintended/bugs' it is a general category for anything quirky you wanna share. Dave clearly does not understand the difference which is not a bad thing considering his inexperience and lack of knowledge on the technical side of MM2 and how it works.
I think the reason why you can clip though a checkpoint is because the New Super Mario Bros U Yoshi hatch animation does not change its position when it jumps up, it instead expands the sprite vertically because they are the same object as the Super Mario World Yoshi and shares its properties. While Yoshi jumps in the air, it is technically still on the ground but its collision box is extended upwards so when Mario lands on it, he will snap to Yoshi's position on the ground skipping over the checkpoint.
I said it before and I'll say it again: Whenever you try to do something in a Mario game with it involving something not set on the "grid" all blocks and entities are supposed to be locked in, glitches happens. Like slopes. Slopes are harder to program than one may think, as each part of the walk on-able parts of a slope, is not fully locked on the grid. It instead takes up half a grid pixel, which is why slopes are so broken in Mario games, such as that one useless glitch on a slope with water in New Super Mario Bros, where you can slide backwards on the slope, going up and left instead of down and right. The only things involved with that glitch in that game, is a slope, water, and Mario.
12:21 I think the Yoshi one with the checkpoint is easily explainable. Game has Mario's feet above the checkpoint as he's falling. As soon as he interacts with Yoshi, who has feet below the checkpoint, the game considers them one entity, and thus, the feet are below the checkpoint. Therefore, the game did not register the player's feet as going through the checkpoint to collect it, since the "feet" teleported from above the checkpoint to below the checkpoint by getting on Yoshi.
I think for the Checkpoint one Yoshi jumps thus putting his hitbox above the Checkpoint. Nintendo didn't intend you to ride Yoshi during the jump animation so it teleports Yoshi below the Checkpoint with Mario intact thus skipping the Checkpoint.
alysdexia I’ve never seen anyone use “mob limit” when talking about Mario Maker. I don’t know what your complaint about “entity limit” is, but personally I think “entity” is a better descriptor for it as “mob” is often used to refer to just things like enemies/creatures/etc. while the limits in Mario Maker also include things like one-ways.
Phosphorus4 IIRC projectiles have a separate limit so I’d presume the balls are counted as those while whatever is set to come out of the cannon would be in a separate category.
I've seen a troll level played either by Juz/Carl once where a player can be riding a skull platform the WRONG way through one-ways and that TOO will make them miss the checkpoint I believe.
Who else hates those floor boo levels, like of course if you put a thwomp or coin block it's gonna act weird, just like the other 20 levels of that type
That's the night-forest theme. 1-ups turn into poison mushrooms in the night-ground theme, but they stay as 1-ups in all other themes including the night themes.
Also Dave, I think you said Kame Hame ha wrong. The e at the end of Kame is NOT silent, is meant to be said as "eh", and the a in the word Kame (which means turtle in Japanese), is meant to be said as "ah". I take it you never actually watched Dragon Ball, as they clearly say that correctly in the anime. This is coming from a non-DBZ fan btw
Day 7 of asking you to make a return to Banzai Mario World the Rom hack, I found so much enjoyment out of that, and thought it'd be cool for you to play it again. #DGR

I’d love to see that thwomp launcher at the end in an actual level.
Do you mean in the begging?
it is, i cant remember which level it was tho

@@DubberRucks Lol. You thought out that comment ALOT. I respect you for that, though
15:18 probably because the POW was still on the cloud block. It’s higher than the note block when an object starts it’s “bounce up”
I just got finished explaining exactly that in a separate comment, as I've run into this thing many times when making music levels. You nailed it, exactly right. :-)
its, kcih
@@Rocky2418 That's cool, Lol!
I tought it was some thing like a corner boost so it got more speed and cause of the note Block horizotal speed got converted in to verticale speed

18:40 And then we have a Twitter argument.
For a company with “intend” in their name, there sure are a lot of Uno Mas in this game

Just rearrange the letters 😌

DGR always finding ways to DGR himself lol
17:40 That's called a Kubrick Stare. You see it a lot in Stanley Kubrick movies.
10:54 entity limit
At this point in Mario Maker, basically anything you don’t understand can be explained by Entity Limit or Black Hole Glitch
I think the reason why you can clip though a checkpoint is because the New Super Mario Bros U Yoshi hatch animation does not change its position when it jumps up, it instead expands the sprite vertically because they are the same object as the Super Mario World Yoshi and shares its properties. And all scripted into the game with absolutely no mtx to "unlock" them lol
COURSE: What the dump, Dave?
A forever uncleared level.

Suggestion for the 0.00 % series
4:27 you can kill stretches if you have a star, if you crush them when on a block, or when the block they're on breaks.
True
12:01 you went through the pole
That's perfectly normal. Mario in his dead dry bones shell state can go through everything, including the flagpole.
13:00 Otherwise known as "Yoshi suc", i.e. GrandPooBear's favourite glitch.
At 7:00 you went through the little space with a big Koopa Shell and if I'm not wrong, it isn't possible in a normal level

That Mario oof noise gets me every time. 🤣
