      Btw if you decide you would like help after all, I'm pretty experienced with After Effects and DaVinci Resolve. With Blender I'm more in the learning phase but I would still be willing to help out with blendering if I can!

      Haha! It was a bit of a pain, actually- like, you could get away with basically an extruded silhouette if you're doing distant background fish, but yeah, getting a good fish shape good for closeups takes a little finagling.

      Exactly. Showing every click is annoying when the clicks change with each new version of Blender anyway 😂
      I just revisited this tutorial to make a video at work in 3.5, the tutorial was still as good as new.

    Fun fact, in the game "Abzû", where you have upwards of like 500 fishes at once in your screen, all moving around, THIS is the basic way in which they done it.
    They created very low-poly models of fishes, and they animated their movements with moving displacements rather than bones, because it takes way less processing power to animated them.
    They then also worked some programming magic to "blend" different "swooshes" together and how the fish actually behaves.
    The end result is pretty outstanding. :)

      3D models not super upclose can be so much simpler than people think. Ian really opened up so many possibilities. Because in Uni you only learn the AAA Qualilty perfect quad topo workflow ... which is such a pain in the ass and only worth it if you see it even in the end

      Muad'dib you can do this in any 3D package, if you only watch blender content you'll only learn 1% of what you could learn if you don't care about the software.

      A car chase through an apocalypse with crowds of zombies and moths around every light source and posters on every wall, ending in an overall filled with fish. Make sure the cars kick up lots of paper as they drove by.

    I like the commentary here, brilliant minds with a touch of genuine comedy. You people do know these one minute tutorials are exactly like advertisements. Ian is indirectly, maybe unintentionally, selling BLENDER 2.8 by cleverly inspiring interest. I think he should be reported to the Blender Foundation. 😀

    This is so damn smart. At the beginning of the tutorial I thought you would go with the wave modifier for the animation. But this is much better, more random and even lazier!!! You rock...seriously!
