And of course Chelsea have never won a CL semi away from home when down to ten men, have they? And no team has ever missed a pen. JT's the best English center-half since Moore, but Carragher was very underrated. Gripes with the ghost goal aside, his performance in that 2005 final was incredible, people forget just how good Milan were back then. Exactly. Besides he was more successful at Chelsea than at Liverpool. Carra, an average defender looking down on a legend of the game in Torres who has won every single trophy in the sport except Confed cup.
Claude Makelele I wouldn’t say Carragher was an average defender. He was good, not world class but good. He made a fair assessment, Torres was on the decline and £50m was a price tag for the striker gone not currently there. Either way, he finished with a 1-3.5/.75 goal to game ratio at Chelsea. Score some important goals and gave absolutely everything when in a Chelsea shirt. He’s forever endeared himself to the fans and no matter what, he has a place at the bridge

Torres was absolutely sensational at Liverpool. My favourite player he could do anything. Skilful, Fast, Direct, volleys, overhead kicks, top corners, he had it all.
At 8:00 is one of the better questions that has been asked in any of these conversations. As a United fan who saw him winning the UEFA Cup and then the Champs League with in all honesty a pretty average Porto side, seeing the success at Chelsea, and then winning the Champs League with Inter I was happy we hired him. However, for what ever reason "that" Jose had changed and in his place was someone who didn't seem to really enjoy what he was doing. Someone who came out and publicly criticized players, who it seems never had the full support of the dressing room. It is mind boggling that this keeps occuring in his career post his second stint at Chelsea considering how he was able to achieve 2 Champions League victories by getting the absolute best out of lesser players earlier on.
I think any team Jose manages has to have a very strong spine consisting of huge characters (not necessarily stars but characters). Without that, I think teams that he manages crumble under his intensity and the amount of pressure he puts on them - which causes them to rebel eventually. On top of that, certain teams are just too good to park the bus against nowadays. Especially if you don’t have a Terry, Carvalho or Cole in your back line.
ArranSiriTV Idk if it’s a Millennial thing, it could be but I wouldn’t make that case without the research to support it. Whatever it is, it does seem like he needs to change it.
Ricky Bowen most people don’t even know what a Millennial is though, it’s just a buzz word for them. The oldest Millenials are 39 this year, how many 39 year olds do you see playing top level football? Don’t just say things because they sound good.

@@Tan92lfc Please tell me what century you were watching football in? Because I promise you it isn't the 21st. Tiny yo he scored vital goals in big games. His work rates were incredible. He created a lot of goals if they lead to him getting assists or starting an attacking leading to goals
The Suarez deal had already been concluded before Chelsea even bid for Torres. At least, Carragher accepted that Liverpool made a mistake in signing Carroll. The club tried to perpetuate the myth that they had concealed the extent of Nando's knee injury by delaying the transfer until the last minute. They were engaging in such subterfuge during the day but abandoned all logic by the evening to spend £35m on a guy who had scored ten Premier League goals.
Never liked Chelsea or JT when he played but he’s been great in the couple extended interviews I’ve seen lately. These guys have great memories too, really impressive recall.
Terry seems to talk a lot to his hierarchy. “I said to Jose” “I said to Roman” “I said to the FA” Jamie said at Liverpool we didn’t talk to the boss like that. We did what we was told. And realistically they weren’t all that successful week in week out back then. Chelsea had massive success. But also massive failure after their success with Mourinho and it seems like their team was run by committee. when the manager couldn’t be overrrawed it was great a dresssing room full of leaders, when the manager was overrun by these leaders, it just lead to failure. The best teams (Chelsea dominance era, Manu dominance era, now Liverpool dominance era) it seems are run like this but you need a manager who can handle and encourage big leaders in the dressing room. Later in Wenger’s career it seemed like he wanted no leaders except himself which funnily enough coincided with Arsenal’s downfall.
Sunny boy A strong manager who is willing and able to handle strong leaders are good ingredients for a club to become dominant for a while. (Eg. Utd under Fergie with Keane, Ince, Bruce, Schmeichel etc. Eg. Chelsea under Mourinho for first two seasons with Drog, JT, Makalele, Lamps etc. Eg. The first team Wenger assembled at Arsenal with Viera, petit, the back 4, Wrighty etc before AW got obsessed with youth and finances. Eg the current Liverpool squad). Without the strong manager the leaders clash with each other and the weak manager and the club underperforms (eg. Chelsea post-Mourinho). Without the strong dressing room leaders you get mentally weak teams who choke. (Eg. Arsenal’s middle to late evolution under Wenger & maybe now Pep’s City ?? ).
@@thatguyaga1n totally right, we had like 5 or 6 national team captain in the dressing room real leaders. Now at Chelsea we might have almost the same level of talent as usual but way weaker mentally no vocal leader. I guess we need some of that again

That Torres goal against Barca was definitely worth £50mil
It wasn’t, chelsea were through without that goal
@@zakfrancis5352 technically, yes. But his goal solidified Chelsea going through and it was the biggest fcuk you to Barcelona. When Iniesta scored the equalizer at Stamford Bridge in 09' it made me sick.
The ghost goal "controversy" is rubbish, if the goal had not been given it would've been a penalty for Liverpool and red card for Cech (those were the rules at the time) which would probably be worse for Chelsea.
Facts..That's what ppl forget..Chelsea actually got off lightly..Could have been 1-0 minus a keeper too
And of course Chelsea have never won a CL semi away from home when down to ten men, have they? And no team has ever missed a pen. Besides, if you look at the footage, you'll see Baros 's studs made contact with Cech's chest, and most refs would have penalised him not Cech. Crap reffing cost us badly - but that's pretty common for Chelsea in the CL.
@@8ackbiter434 Chelsea under Mourinho lost almost every cup tie against Liverpool, so I'd say they wouldn't want to play 80+ minutes at Anfield in those circumstances.

Torres will go down as one of the best foreign strikers in the PL, but that injury really ruined his Chelsea spell

@@justlooking1087 Do you agree with John Terry that millenials can't handle or don't like that and should Mourinho change if that is the case?

Terry seems like a chilled bloke
10:06 “it’s a familiar story here at the Emirates Arsenal play the football, Chelsea have the goal” 💙💙
Absolutely brilliant, this should be a regard feature in Sky Sports programming even after the lockdown is over
Terry seems to talk a lot to his hierarchy.
“I said to Jose” “I said to Roman” “I said to the FA”
Jamie said at Liverpool we didn’t talk to the boss like that.
Sunny boy
A strong manager who is willing and able to handle strong leaders are good ingredients for a club to become dominant for a while.
