@@Zoe-dy4uk I didn't. I kept it more "private" rather than making it a public summer camp. The more public you go the more licensing and such you'll need. Having basic first aid training is helpful.
PLEASE tell me you have a Video on this... I am an Actress, well an Acting Teacher and have been asked to start not only classes, but Summer Camp. I'm so excited, but seriously do not know ALL the details to do it... Can you give me any information I could look up... What were your AGEs? and How much did you Charge for the allotted time per day. That is what is hanging me up... is How much time per day... and what to charge. I Seriously want to start a Dinner Theatre... with the Acting Studio.. Thank you for any help you can give.
Me and my friends did this last year and r doing it again this year it will be even better we have 15 or 20 kids coming and made flyers and leaflets and we are supplying lunch and we r doing it for 3 days Thursday Friday and Saturday from half 12 to half 3 we are going to play lots of games and do crafts and we are lucky enough to use are neighbour's playroom/shed incase it rains! its 2 euro per day and we are only 11,12, 13 but we r making a good bit of money and it's so fun !!!!!
Yay! I'm so excited for you guys. What a wonderful little business you've started! We were going to do it this year with 12 kids but with Covid, had to cancel our plans. Sad. Next year
Hi there, I'm Joyce, India 🇮🇳 Bangalore. I was planning for hosting a summer camp this year for the first time.... Your video was a great help... I would like to thank you for the free support... God bless you
Thank you for your video it was very much educational. :)) I have a few questions for you pertaining to the summer camps, does it require for the host to have a license/ LLC? How would the host go about applying for a grants to help support the cost of the camp along with the supplies & the helpers for the kids or being based upon medical low income based kids in the community ? Does the camp helpers that i may personally know have to have a background check done before assisting and if so, how would i go about that process?
Good questions. I am not a legal professional nor pretend to understand requirements for all counties in the country. So, I’d say you’ll want to reach out to some community business leaders. My camp I ran was very private/close friends and family so the requirements were different.
Loved the video! Do you have a picture of the schedule you made for the summer camp? I am helping out a family friend and was looking for a way to format the schedule.
I don’t have a picture of it but it’s just time blocks. I’ll be putting up an updated camp video towards the end of the month to talk about the camp we’re hosting this year. and I’ll try to share a printable of what I schedule I make for that.
How fun! You'll just want to define your lines as to what will be planned and structured and what will be free play. Once you know those boundaries, you can iron out how your mornings will flow and what expectations you have for your parents and your preschoolers. :)
Hi,thanks a lot.I’m having summer camp this year. What type of water activities we can do as I don’t ve pool in my home.my summer club ll be more than 6 hrs.How I can manage?thanks
How exciting. As far as water activities go, there are several options. I also did not have a pool. :). 1. You could get a small baby pool and just let the littles splash around with buckets and such. 2. Purchase a slip n' slide. The kids loved this the year I did 3. Water Balloons - they go fast but they are wet and fun 4. One year I rented a "wet n dry" bounce house that filled with water and became a water slide
My first answer is absolutely not. That being said, if you make your summer camp large and more of a public entity then you'll need to look into the proper certification. My camps were very private (only neighborhood kids) and I knew all their parents. All you need is a do it attitude, a Pinterest account, and an energy drink. :)
Me and my friend are planning on starting one but we didn’t know where to start. We are in middle and are looking for money to save up for a friend group road trip after we graduate high school.
My camps were very private and "among friends". My neighborhood was full of kids the right ages so I just had the parents all sign a form I had drafted up myself. If your camp is more public in nature, you'll want to check with the city requirements and forms for that.
i am running my own club with best friend Amy church we are independent and have disabilities ourselves and we would like help we cant have a website because we not able to handle it and my mum would say no to having one but we would like to set up summer camp for young adults i need some help with planning and preparing my mum also has said that she dose not what me to do a lot of planning and preparing but your help would be very grateful great has to be locally
My internet is terrible and the video keeps buffering. What did you do for insurance and licensing? I'm in IL and it's required. I definitely can't afford to be sued!
It’s difficult for sure. Marketing is always the hardest part. I used my neighborhood Facebook page and my church community. I lived in a very child-dense neighborhood so there was a big market to pull from. I was all about free marketing so that’s as far as my knowledge goes.
I'm a teen and me and my friends are running a summer camp for 15 kids this summer! Can't wait!
You go friend! You guys are going to have so much fun! Be safe out there!
sryidipped ariana I really want to do the same thing and I’m also a teenager, how did you spread the word??

Watching this video was a super helpful reminder that it's fine to start small.
Absolutely!
I'm doing a camp in a few weeks and this definitely helped! :)
Thank you so much. I can’t afford summer camp this year. I will def include some your ideas into my camp schedule for my 3 girls
Yay! That’s exactly why I started hosting my own camps. I couldn’t afford to send my kiddos so, I just did it myself! Enjoy it.
This was very helpful I just ran my first camp we had 24 KIDS very successful!

Do you have a template of the schedule or a picture of it? Also can I see a example of your wix site?
I don’t have that anymore as I haven’t done this camp for a while. Sorry.

Do you need to have any kind of early childhood development education under your belt before hosting any kind of summer camp?

Same with me but only me lol.
What type of permission forms did you have for transporting the kids?
My camps were very private and "among friends". My neighborhood was full of kids the right ages so I just had the parents all sign a form I had drafted up myself. If your camp is more public in nature, you'll want to check with the city requirements and forms for that.
I am a teen my mom is planning with my teen friends for little kids
which template did you use on the wix website?
I can't remember. Any of their templates would work well. Just make the colors bright and cheery. :)

Did u say every day camps provided you with snacks
Candice Kirsten yes. I provide a snack and a treat each day of my camp. Campers bring their own lunches.
My internet is terrible and the video keeps buffering.

I kept my camp very small and very private. Only neighborhood kids and no more than 6 (plus mine). So I didn't have any licensing or insurance.
