I dunno, I love the way it turned out, but I also loved the filthy, saturated, in-your-face, belligerent-drunk, "party-time-you-sons-of-b*****s" starkly abrasive punchiness of the original. 🤔 Am I normal?

Can someone explain how they added the sub synth for low end? Is it just a sine wave triggered by the kick and gated?
I'm always fixing drum level stuff, since we only have two inputs and i'm incompetent. My two go-to's are a 20 band EQ, and a separate compressed track at specific frequencies (parallel compression, i guess)- to bring up the snare or certain cymbals. For that one, i probably would have just lowered 125hz by a couple of decibels, i'm guessing, and evened it out that way. I like the Rat drums better for this though. I'll have to try that myself sometime.

Bass and the low end of guitar sound cool when ran through the subharmonic synth as an effect, and I was experimenting with the compressor and eq on a recent band practice I had recorded on the reel to reel. Lots of fun, and only excited for future sonic exploits and experiments! Seriously, this channel is nothing but a source of inspiration for people trying to keep things analog.
what's your favorite solution for patching mics into the EM100? And for the yamaha mixer to the portastudio?
I used those Whirlwind IMP impedance transformers, which was also a great way to plug into guitar pedals.
Then I panned all channels to one side and sent that mono signal to one track on the portastudio.

also, I always monitor from the portastudio, in case that helps.
