- Pre Bathurst 2018, Jack Perkins and Larry Perkins would swap cars in an entertaining feature story as part of Network 10's Bathurst 1000 telecast.
Jack would drive his fathers 1997 winning Holden VS Commodore and Larry would drive his sons 2018 Bathurst Holden Commodore.
Love the story with you and your old man jack.
Love watching this channel , you guys give out so much good energy and content. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers
Awsome stuff Larry the legend. And jack wow mate a father could only be so proud to have a child like yourself. Beautiful people.
Cheers!!!
Love these two blokes. Larry a legend, and Jack doing his best to carve out a career....he's a damn good driver in his own right, and seems an even better guy. The respect he shows his Dad and his old race cars is something else!
Cheers!
Fantastic 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you! Cheers!
I swear it was dust in my eyes !!! 2 perfect gentlemen.... you are two amazing blokes.... cheers
He is a Legend , one of the best of all time . The last 2 1sr Win was Epic
Legend, does not do LP justice. He did it all. He built the cars better than even the factory teams, he was a winner in just about every mode of motorsport, he was an unsurpassed engineer, team owner and manager and he also brought in the blue chip sponsors. Jack, make your own way as your dad said. He's so proud of you.
Cheers!
That is a cracking Video….. Awesome!
So awesome to see the obvious love and pride that's shared both ways. Bloody neat.
Jack, you honor your dad so very well and I love your Perkins Engineering channel and the stories you tell. Keep up the great work guys.
How cools Larry
Pretty cool!
Great stuff, two cracking blokes and a fantastic story. Awesome memories for me growing up watching Larry do his thing.
A true legend lp
Larry's the man! ❤
Jack's pretty bloody decent too.
Cheers!!
Loved this.... Thank u...
This is phenomenal. I think someone is cutting onions near by.
What a great story.
Great vid but the music made it hard to hear them speak
$180 comes back home wins 6 Bathurst.....that's a bloke who could get this country back on its feet.. inspiring.😀
Not wrong there
Brought me to tears seeing Jack water up so proud
😃
Thanks for this video.
Well done jack.. your dad is alot of people's hero mate..
Cheers!!
That was the very best 8min 21sec of a father and son story I have ever seen ... congratulations to both of you 👍
only if all father/son and story's were like this
Doesn't get much better than this. Thanks gents!
This was great
Larry Perkins with 6 Bathurst wins is definitely in rarified company .. legend.
Even if you never win a bathurst race, you followed your dreams. That's something any father would be proud of.
Very Touching. Be proud of each other. Legends.
This was cool , great to see😃
Alan Moffat, Dick Johnson & Larry have always been my favourite drivers.
I was there at SMP when they filmed this..I got some footage on my phone but the guys asked me not to post it on social media..it was a cool day
Senna and Larry were my hero's growing up, I was at Adelaide in 1994 and on the wet Saturday I watched Larry sideways everytime he came past us after the hairpin ill never forget it!
Cool
Cheers!!
Larry ,what a true gentleman of the racing scene, great to see this ,thanks for sharing.
Jack is one guy who richly deserves a Bathurst win one day
Absolutely magnificent stuff! Legend is a word used to often these days. Larrikin Larry is a true Aussie legend,a real one! Onya Jack fantastic work 👍😎🇦🇺
Awesome vid. Larry and Jack gave a great father/son relationship.
a proud son and a proud dad it dont get any better then that
Well done guys, thanks Jack for arranging this, and Larry, what can you say, I'm a Ford boy, but without question Larry is my favorite Holden legend of legends, he's just great, well done to you both, I think you all are fantastic 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇦🇺
Amazing Father Son bond too! Great story!
Enjoyed that, thanks for the memories Perkins.
I'll take the #11 97 car any day of the week over the current crop of cars.
I think Larry is just as proud!
I love how they have pride in each other’s achievements. It would have been great to see them race together. I enjoyed watching Jim Richards drive with his son Steven.
Honestly it just doesn't get anymore Australian than this father and son very heart warming .👍💯
That's hilarious, glad the cops turned a blind eye.
I was watching from Murrays Corner that day in 97'. Wont ever forget it. Thanks for the great memories
2:25 LP going ''that's 1st, 2nd, third, fourth, fifth'' Reminds me of when your dad would jump into your modified manual car after he'd been driving an auto for years! All that was missing was LP saying ''geez the clutch is heavy'' lol
Not gonna lie, that kinda brought a bit of a lump and dust in my eye.
Bloody beautifull fellas.
My youngun (he's 30 this year) has a matchbox model of that car from when he was 6 sitting on his display stand.
I remember watching this on the telly ! And it’s still as unreal to watch now , I just wish that had of got the sound of that 97 Bathurst winner as it was blasting down the straight !!
Awesome video showing two great Aussies! I laughed so hard when Larry said I bet he f@&*es up the gear changes!
Loved the video and the photo of 2 motorsports legends Larry and the late and great Barry Sheene.
Man,that is just so cool;seeing the pride going both ways between these two blokes. Just bloody awesome! Love how Dad recognises that son needs to do his own thing, his own way. Now,was the great rally driver,Eddie Perkins,Larry's dad? If so,would explain a lot as he won round Aust. rally I think. In a Beetle!
Yes that’s correct. Eddie is Larry’s Dad, Jack’s Grandfather. An accomplished driver himself, winning the Mobil Gas Round Australia Trial in a VW and more.
Watching this after the Sleuth podcast. The Perkins name is a credit to Australian motor racing.
I'm a great fan of Larry's but why do these videos always have to compete with that bloody noise called music? I caught maybe 10% of the dialog.
The vs is tuff as!!
Mate the old man (Larry) should run Supercars or at least make the rules and be the Sherief The only fairdinkum bloke that is in touch with reality and would make it a fair and even competition
"We're as happy as Larry" indeed.
OMG thats car is so gorgeous!
What a wonderful son and dad story, and the racing bit was good too
So cool to watch
Jack gets another crack this year
💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
.....that is shit hot..plain n simple.🙂
Perkins = Legend!
Wonderful! "Do it, Live it, Love it"
Great stuff
You could of told me I needed a box of tissues for this, damn it.
always loved LP mate, all the work he put into behind the scene with Peter to win all those times, I knew your dad was the driving force in the building and engineering of those days and to find out the guy who built those cars actually knew how to not only drive but WOW was so fantastic wheel man as well for me was fascinating, total legend stuff yeh rocking horse shit rarity your old man but you Jack knew this all along didn't you mate! It saddens me also, you not able to make an assault on that great mountain with the young fella Jack!, (young Lozza) but I seem to be lost for words here with regards to your dream off taming that mountain sorry Buddy only to say I wish you all the best in this endeavor and all the best Jack.
kind regards Steve.
If only CH10 were smart enough to piss off the crap music and let us the the sound of V8's!
i remember being so jealous of young Jack in the pits back in the day!...
i miss them days when the racing was pure and uncorrupted by the corporate greed
It’s funny he wins six, People will say but 3 were with Brock, but it’s more the other way . The 1984 car for instance that Larry & a couple of the other HDT cars he was involved with just had to stay on the road to win. Bucket loads of sponsorship money too. People as far as I am concerned underated Larry. One of the top 5 or 6 drivers this country has ever produced.
Also easily one of the top 5 race engineers, up there with Brabham who was really a chassis guy, but like Larry could put his hand to anything.
It’s a different world now. I heard a true story of Phil Irving who was one of the key people in the 1966 Repco Formula 1 engine , setting up Weber Carbs, fascinating stuff. Larry is obviously at home on the farm.
Love it 👍
Awesome :)
Great stuff 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Shit hot 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Really enjoyed watching this. Lots of memories.
Thank you
