Hello, I wanna ask something... I wanna connect the relay to plug 3 pin, theres earth, live & neutral wires. So which wires do i need to cut & connect it to the relay ?
Please be careful. In AC Earth means something different. In DC earth is really what neutral is in AC. When transferring AC to DC you ignore the AC Earth.

Awesome video tutorial. I’m a beginner. Just wanna ask if I follow your tutorial to control an AC bulb, what should i use: a High Level Trigger relay, or a Low Level Trigger relay?
If you want to turn both ON and OFF at the same time, then ONE relay will do it. Just connect both both wires to the same relay. see this drawing snag.gy/ghvrTW.jpg

I want to run pneumatic solenoid (24 Volt DC) using Arduino....do I need a 24 volt battery for it or just a 9Volt small battery connection to the Arduino is enough?
Arduino needs it is own power so 9V will work for it. For your solenoid, you need separate power. In this case instead of bulb use your solenoid and instead of AC use your 24V.
You are welcome. yes. See the title and also I mentioned in the video "AC or DC load" . Because AC is the hardest, I demonstrated and the same is true for DC.
Helli, I'm new on this field. I have a question, why you need to connect both the signal pin and the + pin ? On the control side of the relay there are only 2 pins, one of which is GND
thank you. yes. Hi Robojax -- do you have any advice for how to set triggers for the relay to turn on? I'd like to use a keystroke with AutoHotKey to turn my relay on and off (maybe it executes a Powershell script or similar?), but I am having a hard time finding a tutorial for something like this.
Hi Robojax, as a beginner and really concerned of safety. I would like to ask, does it matter whether you use the negative or positive side of the lamp wires? thanks in advance.
Once AC is connected the relay should not be touched. when you connect AC lamp wire. We have no + or - but we have Live and Neutral. In some countries and some plugs you can connect the plug to the wall in any ways you like, so you will not know which once is live and which one is neutral. It will make it much safer if you connect the neutral wire. But when the light is OFF, there is still possibility of harm unless the plug is disconnected.

Please watch again. There is no positive and negative in AC. We have neutral wire and Live wire. In Canada 🇨🇦 we know the live wire and it is fixed on the wall.
is there a way to stop the relay pulsing on on power up? As in the video my relay briefly pulses on when power applied. I want to use my relay to send signal to open a gate but if everytime there is a power interruption the gate would open on power up not really ideal.
thank you so much.Simple and easy explanation. Can you post a video to connect the relay to a house circuit. eg. Light circuit or plug circuit; And which wire must we interface on. Thank you so much.
Hi, this is the first time I am hearing the " Bootlace ferrule,". I just did search for it but still didn't get it. is it a crimp device or some kind of glue?
Relay is a switch . Most relays are rated at 10A. If you are connect it to turn On/off a load not more than 10A then yea you can use it. Read the rating of the relay and use it.
Hi Robojax, will the relay get warm at all when we use it to control a 10W LED? And if you have time please do a tutorial or review on the HLK-PM01 power supply. Thanks.
I just check the specs. It is AC to DC converter and maximum current it can handle is 3W at 5V. So you are over loading it by the factor of 3. See photo if this is the right product. ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1W2uJOXXXXXayXpXXq6xXFXXXO/220173842/HTB1W2uJOXXXXXayXpXXq6xXFXXXO.jpg So you have to reduce the load to 3W or lower. Thanks for the suggestion. I will look into it.
Hi, what do you mean by "how can i long the light on" do you mean "How can I change the time the light is ON?" if so, then just add delay(2000); after the line where the light is ON. this will keep it on for 2 seconds. for 10 seconds make it 10000 (millisecond) and so on. the same way you can do it with OFF.
Hi, when you see digitalWrite(8, HIGH); and if this line turns the bulb ON, then it is HIGH trigger. Here is the other relay where Low Level trigger is shown ua-cam.com/video/g6k8sPJyif8/v-deo.html
Hello Sir, thank you for your tutorial. However I am new to arduino and I have one question to ask. How to prevent the delay affecting my sensor system. Because the delay of relay effect the measurement reading of my sensor? I am looking forward for your answer. Thank you very much sir.
what delay or sensor? this relay will be activated in about 0.3 Seconds. If you need faster response, then use SSD ua-cam.com/users/robojaxTVsearch?query=solid

Hi Robojax, nice video thank you! Does it matter whether the relay is inserted in the "live" or the "neutral" side of the mains AC supply? I can't help thinking the appliance would be permanently "live" if the relay were inserted in the neutral side. Thanks!
In many countries, the live and neutral wires are not distinguished when plugging in the device. If you can distinguish it, connect neutral for safety purpose. But in terms of operations, it doesn't make any difference.
Robojax...thanks for this great video and source for all the projects. Really appreciated. You might want to check with an electrician / electrical engineer on the statement that "In many countries, the live and neutral wires are not distinguished when plugging in the device. If you can distinguish it, connect neutral for safety purpose. ". It's not 100% false, yet not accurate either. And the difference between the two can harm people. I suggest you read the book of Karl Riley (Tracing EMF's).

I am not sure what you are asking. Arduino works with 5V which you can connect a battery or power adapter or USB charger. Then for AC, has 2 wires which I have shown to cut one and use relay to connect and disconnect it for you. you can watch this video ua-cam.com/video/N-xbxtGGoHw/v-deo.html which shows wiring diagram if you want to learn more.
Hi, It might be a silly question but can you use relay as ON state by default, means if there is no current applied the circuit is closed but when you apply current the relay is OFF state ? The reason I am asking I want to have 2 power circuits but when I am running one I one to terminate the other and vice versa :)
Hi, there is no silly question. Yes you can. inside the setup() after pinMode(....); in the next line turn it on and it will be ON like this digitalWrite(5, HIGH); this will turn the pin 5 high. or whatever pin you have defined. Good luck.
@@robojax Yeah I just discovered Normally open and closed relay which are 4 pin and apparently there are 5 pin relay that can set up for both :) so I will play with either. Thanks!
thanks sir very much . i have a question , how can we avoid noise that affect arduino ? when i connect 220 v supply it makes noise to the board and the code is malfunctioned and when i disconnect the 220 v supply it returns to its normal state ?
It should not affect the board. There is not AC connection with Arduino. But you can put 100uF to 1000uF 5v capacitor at 5v terminal and it should fix it.

Once again thank you for this awesome video!
Yes you can. Search my channel for the word temperature. Here is how to find Specific UA-cam Video in a channel bit.ly/findUA-camVideo

Hello, I wanna ask something... I wanna connect the relay to plug 3 pin, theres earth, live & neutral wires. So which wires do i need to cut & connect it to the relay ?
earth is for safety. You should cut live. But neutral will also work. Live is somewhat safer.

Thanks. that doesn't matter which one you use. The relay shown in video is HIGH trigger.
For 2 lump be sure necessary will use 2x “5v Single Chanel Relay” or there’re other scheme?
Thanks for recording nice quide
If you want to turn both ON and OFF at the same time, then ONE relay will do it. Just connect both both wires to the same relay.

Thank you. You saved my project.
You are welcome.
@@robojax What to do if I want to make my light dim or bright?
You will need light dimmer. I will post the video soon. I have already posted for Patreon members.
Thanks for clear explanation! Can I use it with DC setups as well? Thanks again!
Hi, it seems you have not watched the video fully. Please watch.
Very useful, but it is possible to have the bulb turned on for larger periods of time (like 15 minutes or so)?
thank you. yes. It can be turn on for unlimited time. for example for 25 minuets, 25x60=1230 seconds and because we use milliseconds, add 000 and becomes 1230000 and type delay(123000);

This is exactly what I need... The relay on the board makes the wiring very easy. WHere did you get that and what is the part number or name of it?
it is called 5V relay module.

Hi Robojax -- do you have any advice for how to set triggers for the relay to turn on? I'd like to use a keystroke with AutoHotKey to turn my relay on and off (maybe it executes a Powershell script or similar?), but I am having a hard time finding a tutorial for something like this.
Hi, here Control relay and AC bulb from Windows Shell Command line via USB and Arduino

But when the light is OFF, there is still possibility of harm unless the plug is disconnected.

does the relay power the arduino, or does the arduino need to be connected to a USB cable while the circuit is being used?
Arduino board has multiple way to power it up. USB is one of them which powers up and upload the code to it. Relay module can be powered from any 5V source. we are using Arduino board to power it up. Arduino Step by Step course that starts here ua-cam.com/video/-6qSrDUA5a8/v-deo.html good luck
Much appreciated. I got my relay working and I am very happy.

Do you connect ground or power to relay output?
Hi, your question says they you have not watched the. Idea fully . Please watch it.
thanks for the helpful tutorial!
Thanks for your videos very interesting
Hi sir! Can I use HCW-M421 Timer module instead of the relay you used in your video?
Hi, no you can't. you need a simple rely module .
which wire from the bulb is connected to the relay and how did you find positive and negative?
Please watch again. There is no positive and negative in AC. We have neutral wire and Live wire. In Canada 🇨🇦 we know the live wire and it is fixed on the wall.
great fast video. what a beauty!
Glad you liked it. Thanks.
is there a way to stop the relay pulsing on on power up? As in the video my relay briefly pulses on when power applied. I want to use my relay to send signal to open a gate but if everytime there is a power interruption the gate would open on power up not really ideal.
thank you so much.Simple and easy explanation. Can you post a video to connect the relay to a house circuit. eg. Light circuit or plug circuit; And which wire must we interface on. Thank you so much.
You are welcome. Thank you your suggestion. i will try to make such video in the near future.
hi mate sorry for asking this you should of use Bootlace ferrule, not solder, solder well melt.
Hi, this is the first time I am hearing the " Bootlace ferrule,". I just did search for it but still didn't get it. is it a crimp device or some kind of glue?
can I use this relay in a 220V line, like in the service drop before the kwh meter?
Relay is a switch . Most relays are rated at 10A. If you are connect it to turn On/off a load not more than 10A then yea you can use it. Read the rating of the relay and use it.
SOS Do I need to solder the wire before putting them in Relay if I have the same type of wire? Thank you!
I mean is it mandatory?
solder makes all treads of wires into one so you can insert them easily. It is not needed.
See photo if this is the right product. ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1W2uJOXXXXXayXpXXq6xXFXXXO/220173842/HTB1W2uJOXXXXXayXpXXq6xXFXXXO.jpg
So you have to reduce the load to 3W or lower.
Thanks for the suggestion. I will look into it.
Thanks Robojax.
please answer asap, how can i long the light on ? your videoa are very nice and helpful
Hi, is this a low level trigger or high level trigger relay?
The project is very good but i want this relay and ardunio to control water heater can i on and off heater between two temperature limits?
yes you can. You would have to use a temperature sensors like DHT11, BMP280 or something like that. I have video for both. Search my channel.
Hello teacher, I would like to ask if there are 5V and 12V relays on the market. What's the difference between them?
hello, the difference the operation voltage. They both work the same way. If you want to use Arduino it is better to use 5V because Arduino operates with 5V.

Thanks! I was wondering how to connect a relay to a solenoid valve for pneumatics!
hi .. we should cut the pozitif cable or the neutral cable of the bulb?
both will work but HOT or LIVE wire is better to be used here.

Sir, would I connect ceiling fan on that relay? That is working or damage relay
this is for AC or DC load. ceiling fan IS an AC load. Yes it will work. Perhaps skipped the video asking about "damage". I just watched the video and indeed I have explained it. So watch it without skipping and you will learn.
using that relay that can handle both ac and dc load, will the arduino handle ac load safely?
this is relay. Perhaps you did not watch it. I mention DC or AC load.
What are you connecting to Arduino in ac side relay is it neutral common

You have not said about the power adaptor jack in left corner below usb jack. Why it is not linked and explain. Why left unattended.
