    Great video. Very informative, thorough, easy to listening, non-rushed, nice cadence. 10/10.

    Hi and thanks for the useful video. Where did you get the rotating platform from? Is there any issues with reflections from it?

      We made it ourselves. It's just a piece of round wood on top of a stable big ball bearing from Amazon designed for tables like this. Then we put a plastic mat on top of it and put markers on it. This way we can remove the mat if we want no reflections.
      We have had no issues with reflections. It actually helps, because most scanners have real issues picking it up at all, so the scanned object ends up floating and we don't have to cut away as much unwanted area.

    Hi Sven,
    First, thank you for your nice video’s, they are very clear.
    I would like to make a turntable as well. Did you put markers on yours.
    I’m going to use it with my Einscan H. Maybe also with my Einscan SE detached from its original frame/turntable, to scan larger objects.

      Hi Erik, I'm glad you like the videos!
      Yes and no. We used wood painted black as the turntable and then put a clear plastic mat on top. There are markers on this plastic mat. They help when scanning smaller objects or just to save on marker use. They are also great for quickly creating a cutting plane below the object. The plastic mat itself is a little reflective due to the black wood underneath, which gives us the nice side effect of the mat not getting picked up by the scanner. If, for some reason, we do not want markers on the turntable, we can simply take off the plastic mat and put it back later. This gives us maximum flexibility and was surprisingly cheap as an end result.
      Let me know how your project goes and if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask!

    Hi Sven,
    I am looking to select a scanner to scan just hand held object(basically to scan hand and the object that is being held by the hand). In the end, I want hand-obj mesh. Is Einscan Hx scanner the best for this purpose? or would you recommend any other scanner for this purpose?

    • @AMAcademyBayreuth
      @AMAcademyBayreuth  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Anil,
      I would recommend having a look at the EinScan H as well! It has in infrared and a structured light source. The infrared is really good at scanning humans - so skin, hair, etc, and has less of a chance to cause damage to the eyes (still be careful though!). However, it is a bit worse in terms of accuracy. But the structured light should be able to fulfill your requirements easily and it costs less than the HX.

      @@AMAcademyBayreuth Thanks for the response. But I may have textureless objects in hand, so in that case I would need Hx, Right?
      Also, I was looking at Artec EVA 3d scanners. Do you have any idea about this?
      And are there any scanners that can provide RGB video/images along with 3d shape ?

    • @AMAcademyBayreuth
      @AMAcademyBayreuth  2 роки тому +1

      @@Anil-vf6ed The texture doesn't matter. Especially with your hand added in, there will be enough geometry for the scanner to orient itself.
      The texture scan mode is what applies the color to the finished model. So if you use the EInScan H with the texture mode you will have an RGB part in the end. See our other videos for one where we scan an arm.
      Unfortunately I do not have any experience with the Artec scanners so I can't help you there.

      @@AMAcademyBayreuth thanks for response. I also feel that this scanners need markers compulsively and also overall(capture, cleaning and exporting) is quite long. I am wondering if this is suitable for large scale data collection?

    you should compare same object for both scanners

      I did scan the fan thingy with the H as well, before starting with the HX. But it's weakness was very quickly apparent so I didn't keep going. The video was long enough already.

    Can the einscan h scans plastic parts from cars or motorbikes for example bonnets, wings e.t?

    • @AMAcademyBayreuth
      @AMAcademyBayreuth  2 роки тому

      Of course. However, very shiny or black parts can be difficult and may need a scanning spray to scan properly. Or you can use the EinScan HX. The Rapid mode of the HX is the same as the H, but it additionally has a laser scanning mode to deal with shiny or black surfaces.

    I understood the HX laser was eyesafe class 1?

    • @AMAcademyBayreuth
      @AMAcademyBayreuth  2 роки тому

      It is. Briefly looking into the laser should cause no damage. However, good safety guidelines still dictate to keep lasers away from eyes. Especially if the person is wearing glasses or contact lenses. But even if they aren't, avoiding laser exposure is just better. So if the goal is scanning a person, using the EinScan H's infrared mode is the best go-to.

    For good comparation is batter to scan the same object... Any chance for it ?

      The shoe would work almost exactly the same, since the HX in its Rapid Scan mode uses the same textured light with the same color camera. So you could make nearly the same scan using the HX. However you can see the difference between the two scanners when trying to scan the fan. The H is unable to pick up the shiny black surface at the front, while the HX was able to do so effortlessly using the laser scan. You can see this direct comparison in the video.
      What is not shown is scanning a human, body parts, face, hair, etc. This is something only the EinScan H can do due to its special infrared scan mode. The HX does not have this (it has the laser instead). You can see how the scanning of a human works in this video: ua-cam.com/video/W8EL8EE8hRw/v-deo.html
      Does that answer the question or do you need more information?

    Is HX safe for face and body scan?

    • @AMAcademyBayreuth
      @AMAcademyBayreuth  2 роки тому

      Do not use it for face scans. The bright, visible light can be very uncomfortable and potentially harmful for the person you are scanning. For some body scans, such as the lower leg, it may be useful. If your goal is to make full-body scans including face and hair, use the EinScan H, which has an infrared light mode. This is far safer. The scanned person should still remove all glasses or contact lenses and not look directly into the scanner at any time. As an added benefit, the infrared light is far better at scanning hairs than the visible light of the HX.
