Other than a small muted section, this was a flawless "documentary" - lol . Really gives the audience an inside look, at a-day-in-the-life of someone who's taken on the change and the joy, that is coming out of it, of realizing her Dream
Really nice to get the personal perspectives and hear that working with the local teams is the smoother process. I think knowing that it works differently in Italy versus the US is also good to remember.
Having been in the remodeling business. 1) Whatever is quoted- expect your man to attempt to triple it. 2) Contractors normally take on too many projects. They will hop from job to job. 3)You can expect completion to take 3X as long Unless you pay as things get done and not upfront that much. 4) hire a local supervisor and tell him for every dollar he saves you he gets 30%. He will get an X$ Bonus if he can keep close to the schedule.
Brilliant idea. questions. How do you go about finding an intermediary? Are they likely to speak English? How do you decide what a saving is? Many thanks - great idea btw.
Years ago I live outside “Bella Naples “. The burocracy was very slow. I had an auto accident. A year later and I was still waiting for my case to appear on the schedule.
Btw - I absolutely luv that "floating wall" in the master bedroom .to creatively separate out the new bath/shower/wardrobe area, without interrupting the beautiful barrel-vaulted ceiling above. While at the same time, creating a wall to act as the headboard for the bed. So many creating detailing option I can imagine, to finish-off ther master suite !!,
The floating wall is gorgeous, I find westerners usually Americans and British very stuck in conventional thinking. Houses and layout outside what they are used to is hard for them. But you are moving to a new country with the way they do things. Esp toilets near or next to kitchen, bidets etc but overall well done on the house
I like the floating wall too. It is sometimes hard to break out of what seems normal. Random somewhat related side note...I have renters that wanted me to remove the bidet from the bathroom because they came from a culture that didn't use it.
Ciao Dauvo, Great, great video. Thank you. I recently heard that Italy discontinued or dramatically reduced the eco bonus program reimbursements. Do you know where that stands currently? I have heard many who already commenced renovations and made commitments are very upset and disappointed. I hope this doesn't negatively impact you or this woman's project.
Congrats Meredith. WOW! Its a huge property (I recall she bought 2 properties side by side/) and its going to be very modern inside per what she has shared on her Instagram. I wonder if you know if her budget of 165K EU is with architect fees, labor and materials included?
Hi DauvO I am from Ontario Canada and I have recently purchased a property in Sambuca. I was wondering if it's possible for you to put me in touch with Meredith. I would love to talk to her regarding the ins and outs of renovations and living in Sambuca 😀
a bit pricey, but I believe it's mostly due to how ambitious this project seems to me. She is going to have an amazing home by the time she is done, and decently sized too.
In most areas it is a possibility, sometimes in the historic centers they have rules against it. We aren't seeing many solar tiles being installed here yet
I'm seriously looking into the 1 Euro home and then come here and it's suddenly a 160,000 euro home. I wish I had money to burn (she obviously does as she's flying over every month at present), but I don't and that's a ridiculous sum of money given that the reason properties are supposed to be so cheap there is because, they are in towns that are dying and don't have great facilities. Each to their own, but this really shows the lie of the 1 Euro home dream.
...well she lives in down town Chicago, where you can't even hardly get a kitchen remodel for that much. Look > she got the €1 part of the house at auction for 5k, and bought the Private Sell adjacent house for cheap, and is making it her "dream home". What's so wrong and misleading about that? And besides she's bringing lots of money to the local craftsman, building material suppliers, custom door & window producers. Capito' ... "get a life"
@@akilgolandaz2486 well, it depends on your circumstances. You can still spend 90 days over a 180 days period in Italy and within the Shengen area. You can buy your holidays house and rent it the rest of the time to cover some of the running expenses. In the long run you may apply for an elective residency if you wish to retire there. In order to obtain an elective residency, you need to provide evidence of your income every year, and owning a property is definitely an advantage.
The house I rent in Malaysia has three bedrooms and 5 bathrooms (all with showers and toilets). It's great. I stayed with friends back in the UK and going back to one bathroom was terrible.
Love the concept, however, the reality may be that you end up dressed in black, sitting in an empty piazza next to the three remaining 80 year-old residents.

Yes. You are very wise as well. Its unfortunate that distance is the distance and trust.
Most informative video on renovation in Italy so far! Thank you!

Those bonuses are key! Hopefully they bring them back! but overall $100k wasn't bad.

Are there still houses on the market ?
1 euro homes come around in waves. There are always affordable home options if you mean in general.
Gorgeous!

Thanks.. looks like I let it slip through!
Hi DauvO
I am from Ontario Canada and I have recently purchased a property in Sambuca.
I was wondering if it's possible for you to put me in touch with Meredith. I would love to talk to her regarding the ins and outs of renovations and living in Sambuca 😀
Hi I recommend you find her on Instagram and just send off a message. She usually responds. @meredith_tabbone
Thank you very much
Whats the average amount for you to renovate the house? Is there any financial loan if a buyer is short of budget?
a bit pricey, but I believe it's mostly due to how ambitious this project seems to me. She is going to have an amazing home by the time she is done, and decently sized too.
How much are the taxes and special fees?
Would you be allowed to put solar panels on the roof? Solar tiles, maybe?
In most areas it is a possibility, sometimes in the historic centers they have rules against it. We aren't seeing many solar tiles being installed here yet
What is the Eco bonus? What can the funds be used for?

@@josephweisman7981 Nothing wrong with it, except the click bait title. It's a 5k house and another house just doesn't have the same ring does it.
Once renovated these houses will be worth triple the costs so it’s definitely an investment based on where it’s located
What is tax system in 1euro home and mortgage

No I'm from the US. I went there recently and had a lot to share, so instead of spreading it over weeks, I published it all now.

Hi..can you plzz tell me the process to buy a 1euro house
so shes actually not the type of buyer the program is supposed to attract: permanent residents to revitalize the towns.
Why so many bathrooms and toilets ? :)
When you've gotta go, you've gotta go! I think she plans on a lot of guests

Because she is American. They have a thing about bathrooms.
160k she could have bought the town!?!?!?!!?!!
There are actually some really nice houses in town. Just more houses than people at this point. Everyone owns two or three on average.
Home Depot Italian Style
I’d love to do a palazzo ❤️ who wants to invest all money needed lol
I’ve heard that there is a problem with the Mafia in Sicily. Has this been remedied?
Enough of this Mafia bullshit ridiculous you been brainwashed
Enormous amounts of money to pour into a small little town

Italy doesnt sell citizenship. And if they did, it would be more like 500,000 euros like Portugal does with the Golden Visa not just 20k.
