One recognises beauty when heard. A carol for the ages. It will be celebrated two hundred years from now.

I agree with John Merrick: I am in total awe of the dying cadences in the work; what incredible beauty! How can anyone dislike this?????

Utterly beautiful. I have just heard this sung at Tewkesbury Abbey and I sat there totally spellbound. Thank you for posting this wonderful carol.

I agree 100 percent. This is REAL singing, REAL music-making, as opposed to the Disney-Broadway-pop crap most American kids are given to learn today. Every teen today wants to be a pop star and they think they can just step up to a microphone and it will happen. They don't know that real work is involved in any kind of music-making.

Stupendo. A mio parere Rutter qui ha superato se stesso. Da brividi la progressione finale discendente che il Coro ha reso con la consueta perfezione.

Gods that ending is ruddy hard to sing. I'm singing it in choir and those kids must all have perfect pitch or something to get that ending right.

John Rutter's best carol, I think. Very untypical of his usual faux-pop style. Done it with my choir... indeed the last page is a bit tricky, but totally worth it.

Broadway used to be on the dot with producing real music and real shows. I dunno what the heck happened to them in the recent years. Ditto with Disney. The Disney of today I don't even consider to be Disney anymore. Poor Walt must be spinning in his grave over what has happened.
I grew up in a family of musicians, so I know what real music is supposed to sound like (my mom for example was tutored at Julliard on piano when she was only 6). This piece and group are part of it.
