Absolutely... it wasn't a remake, it's a re-imagining, maybe a tribute even... I enjoyed it for what it was, Gyllenhaal played it cool and I thoroughly enjoyed bat shit crazy McGregor... had some good laughs watching this movie.
I took a greyhound bus to go diving in Key West back in the late 70s or early 80s. We were on that old bridge, and every once in a while the bus would scrape the guard rail. Made it hard to sleep. Fun times!
When I heard about this remake... oh Helllllll no!. But Jake is a dope actor, and this actually looks great. Nothing will ever beat the OG Roadhouse, but this shouldn't go down as a bad remake

They missed the whole vibe of the original, which was about a martial artist with a Zen outlook. UFC fighters covered in tattoos, completely different.
The original is based upon Larry B Hartsell, former Bruce Lee and Dan Inosanto student, he really progressed Lee’s JKD/Jeet Kune Do martial system, with more practical stuffs(from being a bouncer/cooler) and also brought wrestling (and eventually Brazilian Ju Jitsu) into what was more of a stand up system…
I've spent a lot of time in the Keys and have to say, this is a fairy tale. It's very appealing. One nice thing, I've never seen it look as clean as it does here. In between the ocean and the Gulf, everything shows the salt.
The nod to the original was subtle but kind of neat. By that I mean the Double Deuce Restaurant next to the book store. Or, “Double Douche” as Wade Garrett phrased it.
To be honest, not calling it The Double Deuce (but having that restaurant called the DD) I am ok with. I've gone to plenty of seaside towns and other places where it was legit called Roadhouse. Makes more sense.

Well, as far as the original Dune, while it was a nice movie (I saw it when it came out) it deviated so far from the book on a lot of things that it was almost it's own separate creation. The newest one is the closest to the actual book so far, with the exception of a few minor "casting" choices, that had no real effect on the story itself. I prefer the new Dune, to the David Lynch one, but I still like the Lynch version for it's own sake.

It's not a matter of Jake " getting more movies", he can pick and choose or not whenever he wants. I love him as an actor, own all of his movies. But there are some duds. And this is one. I do not like to see him jacked up, and in a movie that should've never been remade. "Love, sex, and other drugs" is my ultimate favorite. If you haven't watch it, you definitely should. He's a great person, is a very versatile actor, but tends to be in some shitty movies. Thing is: It doesn't matter to him, because he has nothing to lose. 😮😊❤
