They are still determined to finish both ends of the A281 in Bremen.
It's just that the tunnel was one of the last segments to enter the planning stage (which took years). THEN the residents south of the river complained because they didn't like how close the tunnel entrance was supposed to be to their homes, and also because that part was supposed to be "dug and covered" through 2 houses. So the politicians changed to a different tunneling method and a longer tunnel. Which means they needed to spend ANOTHER few years on planning.
And at the south end they had 2 different methods of connecting it to the A1 which they couldn't decide between. Either build a length of new highway along the airport perimeter that connects to the A1, or convert the B6 (which already connects to the A1) to an actual highway.

I found three more unfinished interchanges:
-A3/A81 Würzburg West interchange that probably was supposed to be another four stack interchange
-A3/A45 Selingenstädter interchange that is another unfinished cloverleaf interchange
-Interchange in Gärtringen that was never completed due to A81 reroute via Böblingen
Great Video. Still the A46 near Bestig is finished because it it ends in that area and is only pland as an connector to the Ruhrgebiet.

@Linke Kever - Transit & Infrastructure Videos actually i wanted to comment on that. Just found the video by random and i was so surprised that it basically starts off with "my" home stretch of bahn, the a46 and connection to the rein/ruhr valley. I drive like 10-15 min to get on it. It leads into olsberg and has only recently been extended in the last couple of years. Just because it ends there, doesnt mean it will stay that way cause there are plans to extend it further to get close to brilon and further connect to the a33. Not nessecarily all the way, but by a "bundesstraße" which is currently extending out of the a33 south of paderborn

Germany has a ton of these weird dead ends, interchanges that are oddly spacious, and so on. The Ruhr Area has a lot especially. A31 has an unmarked exit between Dorsten and Schermbeck thats only an exit northbound and entrance soutbound. Allegedly build so the former parliamentary state secretary of defence at the time had a a shorter commute because she lived nearby. Something you'd usually only expect to see in poor corrupt countries lol

De A46 is de afgelopen jaren verlengd tot Bestwig, voorheen liep die tot vóór Bestwig. Dus verkeer richting Winterberg moest door dat gat heen rijden. Nu kun je dat dorp mooi skippen, maar weer houdt die snelweg op na Bestwig.

It's most often just suspended, under construction, not "Unfinished forever". Sometimes it's kind of civil protesters, sometimes enviromental protection, next time it's in the process of finding contractors. It's all very time consuming. It's activities like moving a population of 1000 frogs for a few kilometers, before they can continue.
In Berlin you also can find several weird endings. Most of them will never be build as planned in the 1960s.. Like the A103 so called "Westtangente" at Autobahnkreuz Schöneberg which schould have been connected to the planned A15 from " or the planned cross with a never started "Osttangente" (

Three notable cases in the north are the A26 which ends in a simple interchange and both the A24 and A27 which end in a roundabout*.
*The Horner Kreisel technically is no roundabout but a junction with traffic lights.
Edit: The A20 also ends in a weird kink before continuing as a local road.

the a44 bridge near ratingen you showed at the end has delayed construction on that stretch, steel parts of the bridge were made in zwickau and when they were ready to be shipped to site it was discovered that there were actually multiple bridges on route that needed repairs done before they were able to handle the heavy transports for the a44 bridge
well that was not so smart from them :)
The one near Wetzlar / Asslar is the only intersection that is fully built in this shape in all of Germany. Shame such a big build is just standing around in the middle of nowhere. I use it from time to time. Right now the nearby B49 is in need of modernization and it's in discussion to connect to the autobahn do maybe it will finally find proper use
A143 and A14 are both under construction.

The A26 is very much under construction right now. A part will be opened this year and the extension to the A7 is following soon.
The A46 in Iserlohn is especially weird since right before the end, it runs over the Seilersee, a lake, making stuff quite ugly. there are plans to extend it further, but i honestly want it destroyed

Maybe you could show these for a little longer. Many intersections are only shown for a fraction of a second before the camera violently flies away in a hurry. I had to pause the video multiple times because you were moving on so fast. :)
I understand. my only concern is that if every piece is longer in the video that it will become boring.
A46 is extended to olsberg and construction are on the way to connect it back to the a44 when finish the a445 will be rebranded as a46 there is no at olsberg a huge bridge been build and a connection to the tunnel for the road to Winterberg that plan is in work for nearly 50 years and possibly takes at least another 10
A8 Wiesenstieg, echt altijd een dikke bottleneck. Die snelweg is eerst 2x3 rijstroken, wordt daarna 2x2. Altijd file, altijd.
Funfact: The A45 has the most unfinished Interchanges in Germany
I dont know why the A98 is actually caled the A98 but its signed as a K Motorway its not acutally a Autobahn.
Tell me more about the A41
Wolmirstedt A14 not A392. The A392 will be never extenda because residential area is being built in the theoretical extension. The route is no longer protected.
Must be great to live in a country that seems to build roads because, "what the heck, anyways?"
It takes a decade to decide whether we're going to build or not. And thats after a decade of planning. And thats after a decade of consultation!!!!
