I eat the tips as I'm collecting too, I've never been particularly bothered by the stings, I find it helps with arthritis, BEWARE, The Roots Sting Too!!!
Thanks for sharing. I actually just found wood nettle today and I've been hunting for it here for a while. I'm excited to try them out in soups and such.
My husband was in Nepal and saw a man fall and sprain his ankle. The ankle swelled huge. He said the Sherpa immediately took his boot off and started beating the ankle with stinging nettles. They did this until the man couldn’t take it. The following day the ankle was fine. No pain or swelling. The man hiked 15 miles on it.
Hi Akiva. I'm curious about this plant. Along with all of the benefits that you mentioned, would this be beneficial in repelling pests like Raccoons? Thanks.
I got into a patch when I was kid. It was a bad enuff experience that I have laid down the law- no nettles on my property; they are not welcome. Since then, having discovered permaculture and hearing about all the benefits, my opinion of Nettles remains the same. 😂 I think they are God's physical example of sin. :) We also had patch at the back of the ball field. We new it as the home run patch. All you had to do was get the ball to roll into the nettles. The poor visiting team would unsuspectingly dive in after the ball, and as they would be rubbing themselves in great confusion the bases would clear while the ball rested at their feet. 😂 It's a truly evil plant. ;)

Great info about cooking them. I have only used it as tea. Going to Cook some tonight!! 🙂

Glad you shared this. I don't have any growing wild here, but will hopefully this spring.

Nice job
One of the best plants to eat after a long winter! Free, delicious and nutritious!🤗
Thanks so much! Awesome! 🥰
I love to sautee them on a high heat in butter, or animal fat is really good too, they get nice and crispy!

It's an evil, nasty plant. ;)

Great info there eh! I don't think I have any around here in Southeast Canada but going to keep an eye out can it be transplanted?
You should have them but if not they sell seeds on eBay
They grow in Alaska they should grow as well in Canada
Yeah just find a wild patch and make sure you grab some plants roots and all and they should spread pretty aggressively
Someone ate my first try at a stinging nettle patch out back... trying again with seeds and a little cover as they emerge.
If you hold your breath when picking some nettles, it will close your pores and keep the little hairs from getting in them and causing irritation
Make pesto!!!
looks a bit like SNAKE ROOT.
