He was 71 i think so he wasnt going to manage for another decade! Im pretty sure it was for family reasons that he retired, his sister in law died and he wanted to spend time with his wife, who has obviously since died. Van Persie went against the type of signings he had been making his last 6 or 7 years, which were generally average players. Certainly wasnt a signing for the future of the club and the squad he left wasn't very good. Of course they won the league easily but for me that was the worst league in prem history, or a close second to Leicesters. Too many teams going through changes at the time. The key is that Slot FITS the Liverpool philosophy and even with a brand new coaching team, they have carried on where they left off last season. The rebuild is working superbly and Slot has a clear plan with a group of players who are dedicated to the task at hand.
