Arthur Hailey a renowned, a great story teller and whenever we read the story of each that's well kneaded, gradually the Suspense becomes harder for us to suspect who is behind the murder and at last what we thought about suspect that turned wrong every time, my great Salute to all the Crews who finely did their performance 🙏❤🙂👌👌👑👑
I do as well! I first came to watch him in, If Tomorrow Comes, a mini series back in 1986, the second and final 3 part was my favourite.. it gets a 4 star rating from critics… 😊
To think that this was published in 1949, the story still seemed very current. Its brilliantly detailed with gory murders, twisted mind of a killer, intramural politics of Miami PD and traumatic childhood of the main character. It keeps the readers riveted with ample musings of the death penalty, Catholicism and the grand jury system. Altho the movie is watered down and seems farcical & ridiculous at times. What entertains me? From the comments below: 'a lot to admire' and 'gripping and realistic', but 'portrays our human situation well'. For me this movie is not very entertaining. There are excellent elements of police procedural, but I hate, among other things, in the first nine minutes: - a main character going through a divorce, romantic breakup, whatever. Over used. - an executive having the police chief's attitude to his subordinates. I want to see (and work with) executives who say what do you need/want from me to do your job. - the cute child being the focus of the movie, flying his kite. That is when I hit the delete/exit/stop key. Tim Berenger is one my favorite actors. Full Screen Movies Collection, thank you very much for your efforts. May you and yours stay well and prosper.

There's a lot to admire in this well-constructed movie; what I find most to like is the judge saying she won't approve a warrant without relevant evidence and the director of a shelter saying you can't look at a resident's locker without a court order. Neither of these constraints on the police was presented as some sort of liberal soft-on-crime permissiveness, but as a realistic defense of civil right.
And now a judge approved a warrant for 30 FBI agents to raid Trump's house without evidence, no transparency of the process and redactions from the warrant which the DOJ won't release even though Trump has requested they do do. How things have changed in America.
I’m with Michael. I like movies that show what Police can really do within the law and peoples civil rights. It’s not like most movies portray. We had to stay within the lines or land in a lot of trouble.
MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE ACTRESS WAS ALWAYS WANDA DE JESUS. I wish there were more of her. She's awesome. I think i even remember her in Santa Barbara, a soap opera..?

In my day, just using the two words "hell" and "damn" were frowned upon😲to the point that some movies weren't even shown in the movie theaters!
I LOVE TOM BERENGER ! He is an EXCELLENT ACTOR & HIS MOVIE ARE ALWAYS TOP RATED!! I saw this movie Many, Many years ago... I enjoyed it even more this time and I did not remember how it ended but very intense movie. This is such a well written storyline and the actors were excellent all the way around. It’s unfortunate that the reality of the storyline does cross into the reality of our world. I happen to live in Wichita Kansas during the time of the BTK Serial Killer we’re men women and children were killed and tortured end it took the police department, the DA and many others who are involved in trying to solve their murders over 25 years.... those officers involved I am sure to this day struggle with the portions of that case that they were not able to bring to trial as well as the families. This movie reminds me of much of the similarities in that timeframe that I lived in Wichita Kansas… The most frightening time of my life to raise my small children and he was EVERYWHERE WE WERE...Trolling same neighborhood, And could because he was a security guard, a church Deacon, a boy Scout leader, etc. not to mention living in a nice neighborhood. Our officers do not have an easy job trying to solve these types of crimes and I just want to take a moment to applaud our men and women of the police force and the attorneys who have to fight for the law against evil of this type in this movie!!! Great story Line!!! SUPERIOR ACTING ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I like that even though it's a show about catching a killer it doesn't focus on gore. I hate gore. It's so unnecessary. This is interesting and non-offensive.
The story was gripping and realistic indeed as to what I think Police had to do to trace down a serial killer. All actors and actresses did very well in portraying their characters. My only gripe is the ending part seems a bit lame where a determined ex-lady cop who could shoot accurately but could not kill the ex-priest turned cop with one shot and then to make it harder to believe is for a truly frightened lady to stab and kill the ex-lover from what I see. Overall this movie portrays our human situation well.

This is a good movie. Detective (2005) director: David S. Cass, Jr. actors: Tom Berenger, Cybill Shepherd, Annabeth Gish, Rick Gomez, J. Karen Thomas; others novel: Arthur Hailey; teleplay: Philip Rosenburg Detective Sergeant Malcolm Ainslie, a Catholic priest turned distinguished investigator for the police, has agreed to hear the confession of a convicted serial killer sentenced to death in a just a matter of hours. What he promises to reveal to Ainslie is the truth behind the crimes and the reason he confessed to the one crime Ainslie doesn't even believe he committed. What unfolds between the two men is a serpentine trail into both men's pasts based on the bestseller from master storyteller Arthur Hailey.
I think you are mistaken Tom Berenger with Michael Pare`. Michael is the one who plays in "Eddie & The Cruisers". Both have beautiful blue eyes, maybe that''s the reason...
No vulgarity, but taking about gauged eyes, feet tied to turn in heater, deep burns, visual of a body which was tortured with visible bloody lacerations in the 12 min I've seen so far, is ok with you!!

That doesn't have anything to do with the comment, intelligent people do not need to cuss to enjoy a movie, or do you believe no one dies from cussing like an earlier poster, I have to say, we are all going to die, and at some point most people have cussed, so yes we will all die of cussing.

The Brits produce the best mysteries with superb scripts, actors, direction, post-production. Hollywood’s take is violent, bloody, superficial, predictable.
Yep, if that character had brains written in as well as martial arts and a gung ho attitude to take down bad guys there is a whole movie/TV series there.
@@exynzop4981 Comments are for discussing afterwards - unless you don't mind a glimpse of plot. People are going to discuss the movie bc that's what comments are used for by enough people that it's inevitable. (There's no point in dozens or hundreds of people just saying they liked it or didn't like it bc unless they tell us why we have no idea if they have any taste in movies, lol, right?) So, consider the word "Comments" to mean "Spoiler Alert," & better save them for after, except for a quick keyword scanning for whether the ending is cut off or there's no sound or etc. I've rarely seen a video with more than 3 comments in which nobody brought up plot details. This is where people react to them. I'm not fussing, btw, I'm just pointing it out to save somebody frustration bc it's what a lot of people use comments for.
@@exynzop4981 Plus, somebody probably needs to know it may contain disturbing details as she warns bc not everyone is up for that, & many detective stories are cozies and aren't necessarily gruesome. Expectations do vary.
Cybill Shepherd seemed out of place in this movie. Anyone else notice the weird/strange way that Tom Berenger walked/moved. Looked like he had a limp or back problem?
56:20 - She said "Oh, no, I don't need a lawyer." I'm writing this right after she said it, so I don't know how it will play out. But for anybody reading this: "I don't need a lawyer" are 5 words to NEVER say to a cop, no matter the circumstances. If you're at the beach and a cop says, "Have you ever surfed before?" say "I need a lawyer." If you're married to a cop and you're in labor on the way to deliver your first child and he says, "Honey, are you comfortable," say "I need a lawyer." I totally support cops, but I also support our freedom and rights.

Great movie. I would like to read that book. Who knows the title Nd author
Arthur Hailey
No gore scenes,.no abusive languages used, no displeasure scenes, no eroticism, must watch suspense and amazing Tom berenger's performance..
Thank you for this great crime movie.
Good film. Definitely worth watching.
This is a good movie.

novel: Arthur Hailey; teleplay: Philip Rosenburg
Detective Sergeant Malcolm Ainslie, a Catholic priest turned distinguished investigator for the police, has agreed to hear the confession of a convicted serial killer sentenced to death in a just a matter of hours. What he promises to reveal to Ainslie is the truth behind the crimes and the reason he confessed to the one crime Ainslie doesn't even believe he committed. What unfolds between the two men is a serpentine trail into both men's pasts based on the bestseller from master storyteller Arthur Hailey.
FANTASIC movie, and wonderful actors.
Can't go wrong with Tom Berenger.
I like how he went back to his wife , it's a great movie , good story
Yes, that certainly was the best part of the conclusion.
I think the first movie that I saw Tom Berenger in was Eddie And The Cruisers. Watched about every movie he has been in since. Great actor!
I think you are mistaken Tom Berenger with Michael Pare`. Michael is the one who plays in "Eddie & The Cruisers". Both have beautiful blue eyes, maybe that''s the reason...
Great movie!! I sure didn't expect that ending.
i've read the book, and it is SO much more darker than the movie.
A movie that's entertaining without 4-letters every other word... wow (liked Bruce "The Gambler" Boxelitner, too)
I am very surprised with Tom berenger he is so calmed and settled
Had a lot of twists and turns without vulgarity , would like to see more mysteries
agree
No vulgarity, but taking about gauged eyes, feet tied to turn in heater, deep burns, visual of a body which was tortured with visible bloody lacerations in the 12 min I've seen so far, is ok with you!!
@@E-Kat Wow, that has nothing to do with the "no vulgarity" comment, everyone knows this is about murder and how to solve the crime, they don't agree with murder, that's an asinine comment, give me a break. You must love cussing most people do not. Oh I see, I don't like cussing but murder is alright. That doesn't have anything to do with the comment, intelligent people do not need to cuss to enjoy a movie, or do you believe no one dies from cussing like an earlier poster, I have to say, we are all going to die, and at some point most people have cussed, so yes we will all die of cussing.
@@user-ml8mx3bc2t you've lost yourself in that comment, repeating exactly what I said.
After 12 min I turned it off but people who don't like vulgarity most often than not, watch these films to the end!
Why don't they turn it off when they hear the first swear word?
Why do they torture themselves?
They must be doing it deliberately as suffering supposedly gets us to heaven 😂
Thank you for your comment, it's always good to hear other people's opinions.
All the best. 🤗
The Brits produce the best mysteries with superb scripts, actors, direction, post-production. Hollywood’s take is violent, bloody, superficial, predictable.
Absolutely beautiful . Wonderful movie . 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Watching from Nairobi Kenya...beautiful movie
are you a indian
@@rahulgokak2493 wrong part of the world for him to be indian. Kenyan maybe.
@@rahulgokak2493 what?
Great film, great actors, great copy Thanks
The blonde who killed the pimp... Gotta love her. Straight to the point.
Yep, if that character had brains written in as well as martial arts and a gung ho attitude to take down bad guys there is a whole movie/TV series there.
I like most movies with Tom Barringer in them.
Great actors in this movie.
Been watching some not so good movies lately and then i come across this. Worth the 2 1/2
watch. 👍
*Bravo to the lil Boy at the end who called 911!! So proud of you Boy!👏💙This guy is sick in his head n heart! Unbelievable of what he did...😰*
Spoiler
Such movies always shows that the lead cop suffering with relationship issues...
Cybill Shepherd seemed out of place in this movie. Anyone else notice the weird/strange way that Tom Berenger walked/moved. Looked like he had a limp or back problem?
Thanks for sharing it! I always enjoy watching Great Movies though. 👍👌👏
And of course, I'm a subscriber!
Thanks Again Though.
Awesome. Really good n suspenseful till the end. Hope to have more like this.
The interviewing detective on the scene ripped up his notes and educated her - to request an attorney. She got the message.
