    I wasn't sure I was going to like it as I suspected there was going to be a lot of white around the sinew line, but I really like it. I really love the sinew line. You got great color splits and both colors go well together. I think it was a successful experiment. Thanks, Angie!!! 🥰🥰🥰

    I think this process would be great when making a lightning bolt shirt because it gives off that glow towards your sinew line. Great Job Angie !

      Thank you! We're kind of going through the same thing with the weather here. I have another shirt like this tied and ready to go, but it's been too rainy. Before long though it will be super hot and we'll be longing for rain, so I'm enjoying it while it lasts. 😀

    This came out great! I did something like this a month or two ago with a button-up shirt that I had warm colors on one side and cool on the other. Thanks for all the awesome videos you make, you've been a huge inspiration for my own dyeing! Keep up the good work!

    Beautiful shirt! I love the technique and the color choices you made. A horizontal wavy line with a green that splits well on the bottom and a blue with splits on the top might look like a mountain range. Thanks for the wonderful video. Your shirts are amazing. And yes, I can't stand everything covered in yellow pollen dust.

    • @FunEndeavors
      @FunEndeavors  Рік тому

      Thank you! That's a great color suggestion. It's raining here today so I've postponed dyeing the shirt outside until tomorrow. Thankfully the pollen is mostly finished. Between the 2 oak trees in our yard and the one that is in our neighbors/our yard the pollen is pretty rough every spring. It literally coats everything. I don't mind our maple tree too much. The little pods are messy, but not as much. 🙂

    Yup, I'm going to do this! A "hot" color on one side and a "cool" color on the other would be cool so long as the middle doesn't go brown :) Tried the Happy Cat Dragon's Egg BTW, was wishing for a dark purple and an acid green - yeah not so much! Kind of a brown orange and purple highlights. A nice shirt but darn it I wanted the impossible 😲

      That will be a cool shirt! I love Dragon Egg, but I didn't get any purple from mine. Just orange and a hint of green. I think dark purple and acid green would be a super cool combo! 😀

    Jaw-dropping! So lovely! What a fantastic piece. I hope you do this style more often. I'd love to see what innovative designs and color split combinations you come up with. P.S. This is kind of what I thought the lightning bolt pieces were going to look like (that you've done in previous videos). It's nice to learn how to make what I was envisioning into a reality. I think it turned out absolutely gorgeous! I love the pearly Grays in the center! Is there a reason that you do your dies under the trees instead of out in the open sunshine? Do you get better splits that way? Thank you for all your wonderful videos❤

      @FunEndeavors  Рік тому +1

      Thank you! I dye under the trees to keep the direct sunlight off of the shirt. It wouldn't matter with this design as much, but other designs will dry out much quicker if I'm not in the shade.

    Angie, Why do you sometimes put the ice on top of the dye and sometimes the dye on top of the ice? Does it change the way the dye looks on the shirt? Thanks for the videos!

    • @FunEndeavors
      @FunEndeavors  Рік тому +1

      Yes, it can change the look of the shirt. Usually I get a more watercolor look when I add the dye over the ice. I did an experiment quite awhile ago comparing the two. I am actually in the process of repeating that experiment right now though. I have the shirts tied up and I'll apply the dye in a day or so.

  • @MirrimBlackfox
    @MirrimBlackfox Рік тому +1

    I really like the tie and technique, but I feel like the colors are too similar, it would look better if one of them was blue base (or green, gray, something) rather then red base

      @FunEndeavors  Рік тому

    Why do you put more Soda Ash on top after a presoak? Also I see some artist put the dye right on the material and some on top of the ice. What is the difference? Thank you 💚

    • @FunEndeavors
      @FunEndeavors  Рік тому

      I add some more soda ash to make sure I have plenty of soda ash in the shirt after all the ice melts. I don't want to accidentally wash it all out with the ice. The dye needs the soda ash to raise the pH so that it can properly bond with the fabric.
      I think putting the dye over the ice gives a more watercolor effect to the shirt. Dye under the ice is great though if you want to place the dye in a specific area of the shirt. I use both techniques too. I prefer the dye over the ice on a more abstract design like this one.
