Loved when you said "the more i feel like failing the more bold i get" because for me thats often the time and (stupid) mindset, that makes my paintings look better! :D
This one is so freaking beautiful! I love when you do mixed media. It makes me wanna try and dip my toes into mixed media art too! This is just jaw dropping!
That you for sharing your thoughts, because we all feel that way. I think it looks nice. I started drawing again two years ago when I lost my son. Drawing helped me deal with my pain. So all the little comments help me. Love your voice.
I've been using Polychromos with watercolor for years now, and I absolutely love them. What I love most about them is they won't get that weird waxy haze like prismacolors do, and they are way more blendable.
Hey, I would love that you show every piece or sketch you do on Instagram, because it encourages us so much seen you do mistakes, failure, it make us feel like we are no alone like artist ❤❤❤❤❤ and also you can done voice over when you don't talk , saludos desde Argentina
I like that you took a step back to reevaluate the piece! It can really change how you look at things and really see the potential in something that your close to giving up on. I think this turned out really charming and soft~
I definitely need to do it more often; I find that having the camera on puts me in tunnel-vision mode which isn't good. Need to take more breaks away from the desk, since it's not like I can't edit those out!
"Let's just bring this to a finish"...checks...18 mins left to the video. I also really like this piece. Reminds me of a mermaid with hair swirling around. Also I wonder if it's just a matter of letting the watercolor be bold and colorful and imprecise and magical and letting the colored pencil be controlled. You can always salvage the drawing in the colored pencil. So what would it be like to give in fully to the impressionism of the watercolor?
i know it’s different to hear this than to believe it yourself but your artwork is so beautiful. the video is not even over but what youre doing is always inspiring. hearing you talk though struggles is important. it’s easier to enjoy work when it’s not yours because we don’t see what you were among for, but regardless, i love whatever you do.
Yes, very!! Your process is really interesting to watch. I’ve picked out techniques from watching you work. And the way you push through with illustrations that you don’t find going your way is quite nice too. (Especially bc I get moments like those a lot too aaaaa. Inspires me to push through whenever I get discouraged in the process.) And so, it is very satisfying when you say you end up liking the piece in the end. I look forward to seeing more of your artworks and videos. 🥰
Honestly I absolutely adore this. It’s an finished but abstract piece that has such a soft pastel look to it with gorgeous watercolor textures. It maybe different from your usual works but that’s not a bad thing!
I really enjoyed watching the process even the struggle and your determination to get something you liked instead of giving up. What emerged from the paper was amazing!
This was actually quite inspiring for me to start mixed media portraits. I have both mediums and can use both separately. I bought them to use together and have not been brave enough to start. I keep sticking with what I know. This has encouraged me to start. Thank you for sharing. This piece turned out quite beautifully!
You thinking out lous is encouraging, to know that what I feel when do art is a normal part of the process, and I can't even explainhow out of this world this is❤️
1.) I love this piece!! 2.) I appreciate you putting a video up like this because I go through the same process and it’s refreshing to see someone so good at art do the same
Beautiful❣️ (If you grate some coloured pencil on sandpaper or a sanding block, you can use the powder as paint by dipping into it with a brush dipped in odorless mineral spirits and mimic watercolour that way, too.)
It is interesting to hear you overcome that perfectionist mind set and really alter expectations as you allow yourself to become an objective observer for your own work. Really cool.
I thought this painting was perfectly finished like 72 different times idk how it managed to get even better, just the painting in the first 10 minutes is better than anything I could ever do !!!!
Your coloring process is mesmerizing!! I love how you color with the Faber Castell Polychromos! Amazing video, and great color selection! You're one of the best artists to sketch along with!!
I feel spoiled watching your process, it also helped me realize that my feeling during my art process aren’t so unique I just gotta start pushing through the awkward part. This was a beautiful piece to watch come together 🥰
Love the clip of the guy trying to drink from the glass and his hand shaking so hard (at about 31:40 minute mark). It's how I feel when my piece of art is not turning out right. lol. Nice work Chris.
I think this is a very lovely piece! !!! Your style is so refreshing!!! I would love to see your process of drawing these faces in real time!! They are beautiful!!!
your artworks and artstyle are so inpirering. your videos are so calming and helpfull to watch. i just fell in love with your style and the person you are
I absolutely love your approach to your pieces and the creativity that you have. You just do it! And in the end it’s a extraordinary and beautifully unique piece of art. Love watching your videos. Thanks for being vulnerable and sharing this with us even though you weren’t quite sure of yourself throughout the whole process.
Don't you think that the picture looks like she is daydreaming and the pink splatter emerging from the green is like flowers growing through the grass of a meadow...... (maybe) Love it
Oh Chris! I looove your art because it is the dreamieast-creamiest of all! I'm always amazed how you play with the colors and how you execute your paintings. It's such a joy to watch and listen to you ^^ This one even looks stunning upside down but I have no idea why ( :
I love how you're comforting yourself during the process :D I do this to myself all the time, usually already after my first sketch, I go directly to: "this is not what I've expected, but hey, hey, that doesn't necessarily mean that it's bad! It's.... it's just different, it's...intereting" :D except that my best art isn't even halfway that good as this! Love it!
Really beautiful character face with a innocent soul..for the background there are airbrush inks too, work nicely with airbrush & brush ..i used coloursoft for large surfaces, important blending with Luminance and sharp details with the Polychromos..and come back if nedeed with acrylics brush and airbrush.. Chris you're definitively in the top 5 artists watercolor colour pencils on UA-cam with unique and incredible style reminded me the golden age of Disney illustrators but with also a modern approch and your own vision ! 👍😊❤
Loved "When in doubt, throw in some harder edges, and it will look like you knew what you were doing." That's literally what I was doing on the piece I was working on while watching this video. Haha. XD This artwork you made is gorgeous by the way!
Loved this video! You are not only an amazing artist, but also seem such an adorable character. 😆 💓 I enjoyed the „confused duckling“ music, too. ^^ 🐥 Thanks for sharing your art and please stay safe and healthy. 🍀
Really happy to watch this!!!! I have been using polychromos pencils and have recently dabbled with watercolors hoping to mix the two together. Enjoyed hearing your thoughts since I can really relate lately to those vulnerable feelings.☺️
Loved when you said "the more i feel like failing the more bold i get" because for me thats often the time and (stupid) mindset, that makes my paintings look better! :D
no words can express how much i love your art style!! it’s so mystical and crazy good 🥺
This one is so freaking beautiful! I love when you do mixed media. It makes me wanna try and dip my toes into mixed media art too! This is just jaw dropping!
aw thanks so much, Emily! makes me feel better about the outcome hehe
That you for sharing your thoughts, because we all feel that way. I think it looks nice. I started drawing again two years ago when I lost my son. Drawing helped me deal with my pain. So all the little comments help me. Love your voice.
"looks better upside down"
*me*
"well my art looks better if I turn the paper to the other side"
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I feel you

I love using watercolor with colored pencils. I like the girls I paint but I struggle with getting form...you make it look so easy. Love your work !
Prismacolors or Holbein pinks are so vivid and bold 🩷
Absolutely loving Watercolour and Colour Pencil Combo!! And those eyes look lovely!!
You thinking out lous is encouraging, to know that what I feel when do art is a normal part of the process, and I can't even explainhow out of this world this is❤️
So fun to see you go outside your comfort zone, and end up happy with the results! :D That’s a good feeling.

If I saw it in a gallery - I'd buy it instantly.

It is interesting to hear you overcome that perfectionist mind set and really alter expectations as you allow yourself to become an objective observer for your own work. Really cool.
I love your way with color. I love the idea of using a "rainbow" of color like this--it is so me and I just love staring at your work. :-D
I feel like you would really dig the 'Gibson Girl' hairstyles and period illustrations :)
Your choice of background music is a riot! I Loved it!
I thought this painting was perfectly finished like 72 different times idk how it managed to get even better, just the painting in the first 10 minutes is better than anything I could ever do !!!!

you can have the best tools to do the job, but you've got to also have some serious skills to come up with something as good as this. well done!
Even though I wish you would have stopped at around 28:30, I love the outcome! Great artwork.
Oh Chris! I looove your art because it is the dreamieast-creamiest of all! I'm always amazed how you play with the colors and how you execute your paintings. It's such a joy to watch and listen to you ^^ This one even looks stunning upside down but I have no idea why ( :
