    Pennzoil Platinum! That blows my mind. I use the NAPA Platinum. They tell me at the NAPA store they are discontinuing the Platinum line at NAPA. I Rember in the 1970's Pennzoil oil filters were the best you could get. I am not sure who manufactured them back then.

      Sadly we already at my Napa store cannot get a Platinum filter. They as good as a Purolator one or a Wix XP. And I hear Napa filters will now be manufactured by Premium Guard, still not a bad filter.

    Looks like champion labs to me.

      Some are saying they believe it's made by Purolator. 🤔

      @crazybillsgarage personally I have yet to cut one of those open yet but I know they aren't what they used to be.

      Purolator uses the Chinese version of a carquest. The spring plate with the bypass valve is the give away as the champion labs. Still better than fram.

      @Notvolgrath my first time and I found it to be a usable filter but for not more than 8000k

    Filter does look thick but the other components seem no better than the Wix and Purolators I usually buy.

      You are right on that, in my books I was expecting something more.

    Amazon , the ultimate Ringer / surprise 😂 #2 is Purolator , Guaranteed to arrive crushed / smashed or dented 😜

    Date code indicates made by Purolator June 2022. But, never seen Puro use a separate bypass piece like that. Weird. That aside, looks like a serviceable filter.

      Thanks Faxmen, little sloppy with the filter media but it's all sealed up and would do a good job for sure.

      Pennzoil’s website also lists Purolator models under filter options so I would assume it’s safe to say they are likely made by Purolator. Wonder how it stacks up to the Boss and the Wix XP in testing…

    As soon as I saw the baseplate I said Purolator. When I saw the media I said “pass”.

    • @crazybillsgarage
      @crazybillsgarage  7 днів тому +1

      Yeah that media set me back a bit, I was expecting a more polished filter media than just normal looking Cellulose looking paper product.🫣

    Maybe it was an optical illusion, but the core didn't look square & level. Like the top cap was sitting at an angle

      I think it was out a little bit, just checked it and yes it was not level.🫣

    That’s definitely made by Mann & Hummel, no question.

      It is said to be Royal Dutch/Pennzoil manufacturers there own oil filter. Who knows though, could be all here say.😅

    Meh. Good to have the silicone ADV and the baseplate seems to be good. Flimsy can and average cellulose media. The gluing doesn’t appear TOO sloppy. Pretty average filter IMHO.

    • @crazybillsgarage
      @crazybillsgarage  8 днів тому

      Exactly, I expected better materials and construction.🫣

    • @iankovski6950
      @iankovski6950 7 днів тому +1

      Flimsy can is an irrelevant metric. Takes about 600psi to burst the thinnest can on a filter. If your engine builds up 600psi of oil, can thickness is the least of your worries.

    • @crazybillsgarage
      @crazybillsgarage  7 днів тому

      @iankovski6950 yes your talking about inside pressure which it would probably hold well, I think most of us would worry more about taking off a filter with a thin cannister to be troublesome. I know I have dealt with thin wall cannister and how it caved as the filter was stuck on. That's why filters need thicker cannisters for the filters people over tighten then it's my job to remove.🫣

    Looks like a Purolator

    It looks like a generic Purolator with a nice seal and with the poor workmanship of M&H

    • @crazybillsgarage
      @crazybillsgarage  8 днів тому

      Supposedly it's made by Royal Dutch/Pennzoil incorporated. I'm not sure of that though, it feels like a Mann Hummel product. Thanks Bud.😊

      @@crazybillsgarage Agree on the Mann Hummel aspect. My immediate thought was that even the box looks incredibly like a Mobil 1 box in general design.

      @FeatheredDino it has comparison to the Purolator filters.😉
