Dude, this video is like hanging out with a friend. So wholesome
You're so right, I really think it's the secret sauce to his channel. No gimmicks, no bullshit, just hanging out with a pal!
You may need more interesting friends 😜😜
IKR!

Factory 🤣
The main reason I love this channel is that Alex doesn't stretch content into 132 videos. "Brake job Part 263 Wait Until You See The Rotors!!!!" isn't a title I'll see here (unless he's ripping on typical UA-camrs). It's like I'm in the shop "supervising" with a beer in my hand while learning something.
This format is the bomb, man. Literally just feels like my Friday and Saturday nights working on things. And, it's awesome to see a BA like yourself still runs in to the same madness we run into. Random bugs, flooding, missing tools. I like it.
It might be kind of nice for him to narrate a little bit too, working by yourself all the time might start to feel a little isolated. Having the phone recording at least seems a little bit like someone is with you. It'd be cool at first but after a while, I can see kind of missing having some of the other shop folks around.
What's a BA?
@@ianmangham4570 Fair question. I try to keep it relatively clean on folk's pages and resort to abbreviations sometimes. BA stands for Bad Ass. LOL
@@djwickstrom2891 🤣 I thought it was some kind of college degree lmao
@@ianmangham4570 LOL!!!!!
AC in a shop is great. So glad to hear you’ve got it when you need it. Gloveworks HD hold up really well for me. They are quite expensive these days, but they work well.
meanwhile the shop I work in still has no ac and the last 2 weeks were all in the 90s with a 100+degree heat index
@@biggiy I don't understand that in hot places. The owners are so cheap they don't realize they're losing 80% of their productivity to save on AC costs.
IMO what sets you apart from other automotive channels is your honesty, no one else would say gotta go wifey called issue at the house...
So true.
👍💯
I seriously love the attitude you have towards your work. I commend you sir. I hope you didn't flood
In some areas in cook county some areas flooded a little but most of us are fine
I don’t understand how you don’t have equally as many followers as Tavarish. You actually WORK on cars. And complete them. This is the best auto channel on UA-cam right now.
Working on the lightning while it was lightning. Great video and a great start to my Saturday.
“Love what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life.” It looks like you’ve embraced this motto. Keep up the good work!
Work and you'll never do what you love a day in your life.
Do what you love for work, and the increasingly blurred line between your personal and professional life will make it impossible to feel financially or emotionally secure at any point along the way.

3 step video, how quaint, I really wonder why mostly everyone else needs to over complicate the process, find the fault, fix the fault, show it working. My father who started wielding spanners in his teens and is now 85 (and still working on vintage cars) looked at you working and nodded his approval, which is his highest praise!
I appreciate how you show your mistakes and blunders like dropping the diff fluid jug. It definitely makes you relatable as many of us have made those mistakes as well. Keep up the good work and awesome videos.
I've done maintenance on my own vehicles over the last 45 years but enjoy watching from the Master Mechanic and learning new techniques! Great video as always!
Best channel by far regarding automotive repair. Legit Street Cars is....legit. So happy Alex left his daytime job :-)
I have to say, your videos have gotten better over the last couple months. I watch every video now. Keep it up, man!
Really enjoy watching your videos! I’m 64 and stopped working on my own vehicles about 20-25? yrs. ago because things had gotten so technical. You inspire me to do my own work again because you tackle things with a “Can Do” attitude! I’ve never changed my own Differential Fluid and you’re right, it does cost $150 or more. But watching you do it makes it seem so simple that I’m inspired to do it now!! But shocks I’ll leave to the Pros!! 😂😂. Thanks again!!
This is one of your best videos ever. I’ve been starting from more recent stuff, and working backwards in an anthology. I like your prudence and practicality of part replacements. Conversely, not skimping with fluids, and replacing seals goes a long way. Great work!
Alex, I have that same drain pan. I use a new 6" X 9" red Scotch Bright pad on top so that coolant doesn't splash all over the place. It works pretty good.
That's a great idea.
What's the brand for this drain pan? I need this.

Smart!!
The shop looks great! Your toolbox needs stickers to make it “Legit”
I agree
Just not Pokemon stickers 😬
I love these videos where you spend the whole video fixing up a vehicle. You have it made with that shop, I'd love to have a shop like that where I can be alone and just tinker with my cars on my spare time.
I really just wanted to say I love the channel and I've been following you pretty much since you started. I definitely enjoy the content and how much you bring to this genre of videos. I also see that you seem to be enjoying yourself more. Thanks for bringing us some phenomenal content and being original and informative. Stay safe and keep dry.
Congrats on the rock auto sponsorship and getting your own discount code. Its always annoying looking for that long number string for the discount if your code from the last order expired, and legit is super easy to remember.
Long time fan first time comment. Absolutely love how often you’ve been posting. These videos put a smile on my face. Please keep it up!
Best channel of its kind on the net. Superb videos all the time. Great to watch a really knowledgeable guy do his thing.
I truly enjoy your down to earth and ’real’ videos; it really puts me in a good mood watching your awesome content. Keep it up Alex, du är bäst!
The best automotive channel on UA-cam. Simple yet interesting work on all types of platforms. Love it. Keep up the good work alex
I'm glad to finally see that I'm not the only one that can't keep gloves from tearing. I watch so many vehicle maintenance shows and whatnot and the persons gloves always look perfect.
i watch a detail guy on youtube who always wears glove, even while vacuming a car, to me thats a bit much
Was watching your amg rebuild video expecting when you'd post a new video. My prayers have been answered lol.
I learned a lot from your channel. Thanks
Well, totally enjoyed the commentary and video. I almost bought a Ford Lightning SVT from a guy out of NC last year but having the truck shipped site unseen except for posting was too nerve racking for me so, I ordered one of the first 2021 Hyundai Sonata N - Line's out of Korea. I hope their is no water damage has been done to your home and that the leakage in the shop doesn't get too bad before some preventative maintenance can be done. The truck looks great and being from the DC/Maryland/Virginia area I understand rust and you definately got a great truck in the condition it's in.
I started following you about a year ago. Content is on point and you keep up with the updates. Glad that everything has worked out for you after deciding to do UA-cam full time now. Keep up the great content. Can't wait to hear your impressions about the Lightning after a complete maintenance update.
Love love love this channel!!! I’m often clicking thumbs up before I even get a chance to watch, always great content, you don’t leave us hanging with lil 8 minute videos, stuff gets done!!!! I did the brakes on my car myself because you inspire me, I love cars, far from a mechanic, but Semi-DIY guy lol, Much success to you!
Venom Steel Nitrile Gloves is what I use. Tear eventually but pretty good. I put on mech gloves over top when working with chassis parts to keep hands clean and keep gloves from tearing.
A little trick I use when I have to do something messy when not on the lift or without a larger pan it use puppy pads around the smaller pan. They absorb everything and easier than cleaning up the floor.
Great to see Lightning content! I worked in a Ford performance shop when these and the Terminator Cobras came out in the early 2000’s and I love these trucks! I still miss your E55 sedan, mine is coming along and I still refer back to your previous videos to help get me through repair jobs. I will be doing long tubes on it soon and I will be sure to use the wood block trick to get the driver’s side header in place. Thank you for your content, Alex!
Hopefully while you were at home, you loaded up some of the equipment you need for your shop. Love the videos Alex.
I subbed n belled recently. I like your channel bc of your very friendly and likable personality. You don’t resort to gimmicks and hyperbolic bs. Just honest doc vid. Thanks. It’s refreshing. ✌🏻😎👍🏻
Good stuff as always! Really enjoying the longer videos! A length of hose on the coolant drain will also help with splatter.
I watched till the end on your new work table Lowe's sells epoxy resin kit super easy-to-use I would use that on the top of the table the epoxy resin mixes 1-to-1 so super easy it'll make clean-up a breeze that way you don't have to put a piece of metal over that beautiful new table keep up the good work
I LOVE RockAuto..been shopping there since 2006! I love the simplicity in the website. Reminds me of the internet in the 90s lol.
Hope everything turned out okay with the basement at home. Love the content, glad you have the opportunity to do this full time.
Workbench suggestion. First - bravo. I love a good workbench. Under the corner where you put the vice, put another leg directly under that corner. Otherwise the corner will flex slightly when hammering on something (you know you'll hammer on something). The vertical will support the vice directly on the floor. Small thing, but worth it.
Thickster gloves from Orielly’s are awesome. They’re on the thicker side, but they last a while.
Tattoo artist glove as well they are thick because well punctures.
Your channel is Pretty inspiring.
Such a Humble dude working really hard, but when you're doing what you love i guess its not really "work" is it?
and you're also showing/teaching us along the way.
ICONIC
That White fluid sucker is very usefull. We have it on our garage too. It can go tight places too with that long hose.
At my wife’s veterinary practice she uses kimtech nitrile gloves.I use them around the house pretty tear resistant.
Love watching you work Alex. You actually know what you're doing and using tried and true trucks of the trade, unlike the majority of UA-camrs who silly stuff and make a job 10x harder than it has to be. It's great to see a real mechanic teaching simple but effective tricks to get a job done effectively. Great work Alex!
agreed and he gets right to the repair too, not like a certain set of popular youtubers in Tennesse who hop up and down, crazy arm gestures always pushing new merch on a weekly basis and seem like they drank a case of RED BULL before the video,
Love the truck, love the new shop, and love hanging out with you on these projects! I hope everything was ok at the house, water problems are no fun. Thanks again for this content.
I use Ansell touch n tuff 92-600 gloves in my workshop and they are the best i have ever tried.
Expensive but well worth the money.
Always excited for your videos! This is a good one as always
Damn you Alex. I was gonna cut the grass now but looks like that will be delayed 35 mins! Time to enjoy the show! Keep up the hard work!
Alex, you're crushing it! Don't ever doubt yourself or the decision you made to do this full time. Your content and format is great. I love the variety of cars (& trucks) you work with. Keep doing you, man!
Lmao, my first thoughts in the beginning of the video when you were talking about the belt I thought to myself “I hope he measured the belt or got the number off it with it having a different pulley…Nahhh, he had to of thought of that”. Or maybe not 😂 I love how you’re honest with it. As someone else said “It’s like hanging out with your friend”.
Great video Alex! Love the L content and looking forward to more. I'm taking notes for my L too. This is probably low priority (maybe someone already mentioned it) but like mine, it looks like your front bumper has a bit more panel gap on the driver side too. I think this is common on Heritage F-150s. I haven't addressed mine yet but if you get to it, I'm curious to see how.
Hope your basement didn't flood and you're able to seal off the Street Quarters from the next heavy rainfall!
I don't think there's ever been a lightning/terminator owner myself included, who has bought the right blower belt the first time around. As clean as the Lightning is, I have to wonder if you're going to drive it year round? Cool either way, love the videos!
I've been buying gloves in the automotive section of walmart. They're rubber coated on the fingers and palm and thin breathable fabric up top. They're like $5 for a pair and they've lasted me two suspension set replacements. Highly recommend!
You just can't help but love this guy - great content, phenomenal mechanical expertise, sincerity, and he sticks with projects until they're concluded. In this category LegitStreetCars is best!
Some anti-seize woulda been very helpful on everything he replaced the thermostats bolts the shocks
I was kinda hoping for the finished Lexus vid this morning. But at the same time was satisfied to see the Lightning
love your work, Alex! again congrats on the shop and going full time with this! cant wait for the next one
True wrenching 'tubers always get 👍👍👍👍👍. No flash or waving hands and yelling, just true wrenching. Keep the vids coming.
Wrench hint: Get a few cold chisels for your tool box, long and short. Handy when you have to break stuff off/loose and can't get the hammer in there.
What a great truck. Just looks amazing. Love this channel.
25:00 Alex, I recommend the hypertough nitrile coated mesh "grip gloves" from Walmart. They're not super durable, but they're cheap and tactile, and they're only about 2-3 times the price per glove of layered nitrile shop glove. They easily last ten times as long as the vinyl only gloves, and with the mesh backs you can wear them all day without getting sweaty hands. They still keep your hands clean, and when you need actual liquid protection, you can layer them over plain vinyl/rubber gloves.
Most radiator flush I have used is garbage. White Vinegar my man! Does a stellar job and it's cheap! I use a gallon each flush and the rest water. Love the channel!
"I sprayed these things down with penetrating oil yesterday". I'll take, "Things you don't hear in a Las Vegas shop" for $200, Alex. ;)
Love the long episodes Alex!!
It's nice to see a pro at work. You make it look easy but it isn't.
Enjoy your work, thanks
Reminds me of when I started to watch itsjusta6 with the black Roush Mustang, good video, I like to see how stuff is done especially on a rare truck like the lightning!
Legit, thank you for replacing all 4 shocks and not just the worn ones. Interesting that the front shocks are held in place from the bottom though.
why do people do this? At the very least when you're fixing a suspension/drivetrain issue on one side of a car you should assume the other side needs the same work, or you'll just end up having to tear things down again to do it later
@@miscbits6399 hard to say, sometimes it's cost. Sometimes they run into issues and stop. Legit had to cut the nuts on the shocks
Yeah that is crazy just replacing one shock.
Not good practice.
Always replace in pairs.
Especially with that power.
Them lower bolts can seize into the inner collar - cutting out
is the only answer.
Alex managed fine.
Perhaps some people are just cheap....
Sweet work bench! With the price of lumber, that’s the most expensive thing in your shop lol
Really am enjoying this content and hope to see more. Hopefully your basement hasn't flooded and everything is good. Good luck
Since you showed the Mass Airflow Sensor cleaning, I've using it to mine and friends and family. Thanks!
Why not use the ML in this storm.
Good job as always!
Woo another long legit video!
Hey Alex. I work for BMW and we use gloves called HyFlex. They are amazing. They are really stretchy and withstand a lot off beating. Also they are thin and have great grip. I recommend them!
Awwww I wanted to see more part adding but understand you have to take care of basement issue. Really fun vid!
I always wonder where exactly do you guys dispose of all the stuff that comes out of your old and rebuilt vehicles? Between old shocks, rusted out breaks, and all manner of gross old fluids, where does all that stuff go afterwards?
I think it's a law that all businesses that sell motor oil must accept used motor oil from anyone. I take my used motor oil to Autozone or the local chain of quickie lubes. Not sure if they will accept used coolant and differential fluid though.
Anything metal junkers will pick up from you.
@@DC-iq4gf I worked at a quick lube a long long time ago and they would take coolant but sometimes things change.
These vids are like Saturday morning cartoons, but for adults haha
love the comment
A great tip is to use a old washer fluid jug....cut out a square out the side and the edges prevent from splashing out.....plus the lid is great for draining with no mess!!
Great video!! Looks like you have more garage stuff to attend to. Hope the sump pump was okay. Cheers!!
The M12 die grinders have a smaller 2" cutoff wheel and are easier to get into tight spots than the M12 cutoff tool with 3" wheel.
Those Ford thermostat bolts like to rust down to nothing in the middle. That was giving me flashbacks of my 97 Taurus.
Ya I had water pump bolts break on my Audi when I did my timing belt a few months ago. Drilling bolts out of the block wasn't fun.
Just love your videos. I feel like your speaking to me and that we have a connection with your work...weird, I know, but it makes what you are doing very interesting as if I'm watching a good friend working on his truck/car.
Derale makes a nice Dual Fan kit that works AMAZING on the 5.4!!! Got it for my Navigator and havent had any issues! Dual 2000cfm fans with a digital fan controller is the way to go!
The sparks flying straight at the gas tank had me clenching a bit when you were cutting the shock. Other than that, amazing content!
Hope everything is dry at home, good luck with the new shop. Thanks for the video's.
I live close to you. Kick the sump pump, the float gets stuck with just a little sludge once it's loose it's fine. Then get used to cleaning it once a season.I had Speed do our caprice as well.
Like you, always admired these but 2wd prevented me from allocating a garage spot. Just picked up a 10yr old whipple 6.2L raptor!
the gloveworks green gloves with the webbing are the best i've tried, they'll stick rip occasionally, but they last better than most
Get the spicer or Ford performance diff cover. I run it on my raptor and jk. Has drain plug and looks great. Lube locker is a great re usable diff gasket.
I’m really enjoying your videos lately! It’s great watching someone that really knows what he’s doing.
Good luck with the flooding. Supply to get some rain off of that storm here Wednesday. Love the truck.
You had a Larry David moment at Harbor Freight! … Love it!
Alex, not sure if it has been stated before but you can take that outer shroud off of the milwaukee cut off wheel and it fits into much tighter spaces.
New to the channel and love it! Keep up the great work!!
Alex, I own a few warehouses like your shop. The problem with the water is that you need a drip rail or flashing installed over the man door and bay door. Put them on and that will keep a lot of the water out.
makes you even more of a real guy, when you order the incorrect belt size. Great videos. Love'em all. Amazing enthusiasm.
Alex, hope that everything worked out with the sump pump. I was looking to perform a bunch of overdue maintenance on my 2011 F150, this video was amazing, like a step by step tutorial.
Enjoyed watching the Lighting work. You may want to check the shop roof. If there are some type of gutter system it may be partly blocked or emptying too close to the building. Just a thought.
Cascade or Finish dishwasher soap is your friend for tough flushes. It doesn't bubble up and does an amazing job.
I gotta say. Your attitude about what you do and being an American is too awesome for words. Glad you are here Alex. Not only here doing what you love every day and making killer content but glad you are here in this great country man. Fuckin' murica.
Dry ice bottom side.
Extensions on drain wipes from gutters. Check gutters for trash. Might be over flowing. Great truck.
