WHAT? Dude, on w211 back end of a gearbox is basically identical on awd and 2wd. It only differs by transfer case mounting points and that back shaft of a gearbox ends with a mount for transfer case instead of a flex mount for a propshaft. You could have just bought a used front propshaft, back shaft from a 2wd gearbox (with flexdisc mounts instead of tranfercase socket) and get rid of a transfer case altogether
Still haven’t put it in. The waggy has been decommissioned for a month or so. Thinking about putting it on blocks and pulling off the wheels, maybe put an old washing machine beside it. I don’t know.
I watch this video to many time's! I have an 2010 Mercedes w212 E350 4matic, i would like to convert it in RWD. You are the only one who showed us something like that. Do you know do i disable the front differential and bypass the transfer case? How can i do that?
I still haven’t installed this. I simply welded the differential and removed the diff to front output gear so as to disconnect the front output to the transfer case. If/when I ever install this, I’ll leave the front driveline in place. It’ll be as if it were RWD, with 0% torque to the front and 100% to the rear. I think not using the front driveline might cause some lubrication issues within the transfer case. As far as the differences between my S211(W211) vs your W212 (regarding the transmission/transfer case), I don’t know. I’d wager it’s nearly identical. I’ve not factored in issues with the nanny ABS/traction control. It may freak out at the slightest hint of rear wheel slip. -JMN
I haven’t tried it yet. I bought a replacement transfer case and put it in the car, welded the old one and have it on the shelf for a spare. Truthfully, I’ll probably never use it. It’s the wife’s daily driver.

Jason where are you located?

What is the correct oil number please?
Now you can do super smoky burn-outs and fish tails and bagels and whatnot. Or just sell the damn thing.

100% to rear, does you have any issue with ABS/ESB lights or other
How well did it work welding the diff
