The q5 and Subaru are very different cars. Q5 is a luxury 68k suv not some 49k glc x3 or a Subaru. Not comparable to the Subaru. Downgrade! (I have a 2022 m5 comp matte black and a 2024 cayenne s hybrid pebble grey)

Lol. I’m from the states and Coke zero is not sold everywhere. I can’t even buy caffeine free Coke zero. Though last month I was in Toronto and found it at a Walmart. I bought 10 12packs to bring back to the states. Now I’ve got a nice supply of Coke. Zero caffeine free. Love your videos thanks for sharing.

You commented on it, and Bloomberg is now reporting Tesla has begun hiring back some its Supercharging team. Chief among those rehired is Max de Zegher, the director of charging for North America. I also heard most of the staff were originally hired to put the partnerships in place with non Tesla brands and most of that work was completed. It's a hot topic and I am sure we will hear more...
Sometimes, manufacturers want you to move upmarket to get the fog lights. My wife's 2022 Tiguan, the fog lights are available on the SEL and up. Previously, they were available on the SE trim on her 2019 Tiguan.
Have a 2018 SQ5 Audi and it has become a repair nightmare. Every so many months it needs a multi thousand dollar repair. No more Audis for me.
Fog lights are one of those things that, you may rarely use, but when you need them - you need them in the worst way...😅
Re outback, definitely spring for the turbo if you are used to driving a car with more oomf.
I was driving an x3 2010 and tried to drive the normal 180hp engine, and it felt terrible.
I really enjoy my outback xt.
The new LED headlights are better ('24 Maverick owner here), but they need to find a way to replace the element only when they fail. Replacing the entire light fixture can cost as much or more than a whole set of tires. This further increasing the auto maintenance budget by huge amounts.

I enjoy all your content and want to add that I value your opinions. I owned a Honda Crosstour second generation with AWD and a smooth six-cylinder. It was one of my favorite cars and I've owned quite a variety. I liked the styling and the usable cargo floor space nearly equalled the CR-V I traded in on it. At the time the critics found it to have awkward handling. Neither the handling nor the brakes ever were a problem for me in a mix of suburban and interstate driving. Enjoy you Miata; we have owned three and loved every one.

Headlights have improving with every new generation of vehicles. Unfortunately, the US authorities have banned all the new tech the top European brands have on vehicles overseas. OLED Headlight engineers are designing lights with Lidar that gives the headlights information about the roadway ahead, and all oncoming traffic and traffic you come up on from behind, and the headlights are intelligent and are able to completely (100%) eliminate the light that would hit an oncoming driver's eyes. It also shines around any vehicles ahead of you on the road, without dazzling their mirrors. The best lights I have driven behind in Europe are Porsche's new Porsche Dynamic Light System, where the headlight computers work out exactly where light needs to go without blinding other road users. The only problem is they are damned expensive...
I think that they were allowed on 2023 models. My '24 Lexus has them.
The Outback also has a low(higher numerical) rear gear ratio so it doesn't seem underpowered.

The person who wants the blind spot camera, just get a Tucson or a Santa Fe. Or they can go for the Kia equivalents. They offer both. We love this feature and we are on our 5 th Hyundai with 0 issues.
You mention JETTA, I am wondering the repairing cost and durability. Because people said German cars are expansive to repair and maintain.

Fog lights are on the way out but some manufacturers have implemented a different system that’s built into the headlights. My VW ID4 Pro S has lights on the inner corners of each headlight which shine downwards and towards the sides of the road. They call them inclement weather lights. Which can be turned on separately. They work great.
Do your front inclement weather lights work independently from the rear fog light(s)? The ones on my Porsche Cayenne operate only with the rear fog lights and only under 60 km/h.

Omg I used to own 2015 accord v6 exl. Now I have 2 mercedese and lexus. Honda hands down honda infotainment system was super especially blind spot camera especially when it is triggered when changing Lane changing with navigation. Now a days un necessary sensors and distractions...
I still use foglights all the time and would really miss them.
I won’t miss you having them on all the time when not needed.

Hyundai/Kia/Genesis vehicles have surround view that shows the lane beside you on both sides. And displays that on your dashboard display. And provides a bird's eye view when backing up, going through a drive through, etc... I use it on a daily basis on my GV70. No idea why Honda continues to go backwards with tech, power, design...

Maybe the problem with the Maverick pricing is that the Maverick is priced too high in general., much like every other truck.
Here’s a tidbit and just look at the smallest province in Canada (PEI) the whole population of that province of 180 thousand people, that is the population of Waterloo region in southern Ontario ( Kitchener,Waterloo, Cambridge,and surrounding towns )
I’ve started going back and forth getting the cottage ready on Aylen Lake. I just saw, in Barry’s Bay of all places!… the first and only Vinfast SUV I’ve seen in Canada (first and only other I’ve seen was in the Dominican Republic). I was so surprised to see one there (my wife wasn’t as shocked… though I’m not really sure she was actually listening to me). Thanks for the video.
One of my wife’s friends came up for a visit (a couple of years back) with her Nissan Leaf (from Peterborough) and it had to charge for TWO days! before she could leave. Not enough time to charge or maybe … too much wine on the dock? Either/or… she enjoyed her stay.
Doesn’t the Jetta get like 15-20% less fuel economy on the highway?
CAMERA - well a lot of - I think Hyundai's, don't think Kia but could be wrong - have that feature on both sides. Elantra in other market - again, don't think here - has it too.

More EVs will be using the supercharger network which is why they want to focus on increasing current superchargers. Especially since the current superchargers are in the best locations as they were built out in a strategic way. Technology has improved so it makes sense to make all of the current locations level 4 , etc.

It's unfortunate about fog lights, especially since LED lighting is the worst for fog, and most vehicles have them now.
As a flashaholic that’s spent way too much time reading and using LEDs, this is the first I’ve heard of this. I call BS. Fog doesn’t care how the light is made. Where the light is placed and tint seem more logical.
Well you're wrong. Even recent studies have show this and also how LED vehicle lighting is damaging people's eyes.

6:00 Andrea “ you are going to run out of range with a plug-in hybrid.” Remember the Volvo test when you were getting “bonus miles” when you charged the battery? Additionally, when your route is in navigation the car knows to utilize the battery throughout the entire trip or round trip, wherever advantageous. Long story short, my S60 could do a 75 mile round-trip on about .3 gallons. Nothing wrong with that.
That's great fuel economy, there is no doubt PHEVs do well in this area. However, they are expensive and sometimes as much as fully electric vehicles. This viewer was specifically asking about the Tucson and Sportage PHEVs with 50 km/31 miles of range and she does 120 km/day. If it were me based on those km I would buy a full EV or a hybrid which costs much less and gets great fuel economy. I wouldn't pay a premium for a PHEV.
@@andreaspencer9813 My apologies, I didn’t pick up on the conversation being specific to that brand, I must pay better attention. And yes, perhaps that brand does not have the “bonus miles” feature or the battery / navigation interaction.
(Bonus miles? If above 40° ambient my battery full charge is always 50 miles plus, high of 58.)
Here is a good place though to mention the consumer reports analysis finding PHEVs, with av 29 mile batteries, only 2.1% less efficient than an EV.

@@billurban1581 Thanks for this! I am actually a huge fan of plug-in-hybrids, I recommended my Mom buy one because she didn't want a full EV. She didn't want to worry about plugging it in when she did her road trips. Most of the time she stays within her daily range and hardly ever needs gas,

I buy gas once a month to coincide with my electric bill and calculate my ¢/mile, currently 7.9. I average 8.6 gallons a month, $35/mo @ 16.5¢/kWh to charge . My last ICE, a RWD BMW 4 cyl took about 30 gal / mo. *We bought our V70 wagon (3 pedals, just broken in @ 240K) in 1998, still rates a place in the garage. A ‘95 Dakota (3 pedals, 280K) rounds out the “fleet.” Guess I’m old school :^] Best to you and Zack.

The reason why fog lights are essentially useless here (as Zack alluded to) is the requirement of daytime running lights. In order for fog lights to work, they need to be the only lights on. Modern cars don't allow that, so they are nothing more than a styling feature now.
I don't know if this was true. I had an old Mercedes with the orange fog lamps and you couldn't turn them on without the headlights also being on. No daytime running lights. Same for a toyota highlander. The headlights had to be on or the fog lamps wouldn't work.
I press the fog light button in my car in the rain to turn my headlights on without having to switch the light switch from auto.

@@onlysublime that's the same thing. In order for fog lights to work properly, they need to be the only lights on. Modern cars mandate the lights be functional and on at all times. Back in the day, fog lights did work here since you could leave the rest of the lights turned off and ONLY turn on the fog lights. That is how they are designed to work. Modern cars don't allow that scenario since your car always has some lights on, which negates the benefit of fog lights.
Most factory fog lights are useless anyways because they don't have much throw. You want the light mounted low so that it doesn't bounce back into your eyes, but it still needs to be strong to actually cut through the fog. With most factory fog lights what you are actually getting is a better few of the sides of the car just a few feet away and that's it. Though agree with Andrea, the LED fogs on the GTi look pretty.
Q5 maintenance is nightmarish.
Anyone who charged their EVs on non-SC stations know how frustrating the experience can be. EV charging should now rest solely on Tesla's shoulders. All the 3rd party providers should up their quality game now that finally the industry is united in standardising NACS connector.
I think Zack has a good point, that Elon the carrying cost of SC can be trimmed. 3rd party vendors will probably pay some form of licensing fee to Tesla and non-Tesla owners will have to pay subscription to use SC. So leaning out the SC operations makes financial sense. It looks like Tesla is rehiring some SC workers (as needed) at a renegotiated rate no doubt.
The problem is the Supercharger network is one of the best parts of the company.
Wow, former crown jewel of Tesla now an iffy network, right when other brands are signing on, next will be paying double for the electricity. I sure am glad my PHEV only needs 110V at home, plain old household outlet, no brainer, and will never need a charging station.
Buy a Kia Sportage Sx Prestige/Hyundai Tucson Limited. It is modernized and it is called a blind spot view monitor with better cameras and shows on the instrument cluster when you are changing lanes compared to the old crappy camera that shows up on the infotainment system in the Honda CRV.
A great way to save money at Tesla, don’t develop or build a ridiculous, unnecessary vehicle like the Cybertruck. Shareholders should be outraged by that clunker.

Re: Honda's right-hand mirror camera. I used to think it was an expensive way to deal with people who don't set their side mirrors properly, but bike lanes changed my mind. Right now I can can either set mirror far-out and have a clear view of people camping in the right-side blind spot, but I've had to tuck it in so that you can see whatever is coming from behind if you are turning across a bike lane. I hate the tucked-in position because it's not optimal for traffic, but I've learned not to trust things in the bike lane, especially since where I live the bike lane is not occupied by hard-core bike people, but by sketchy people on stolen bikes who weave in and out anyway.

Tesla falls victim to playing the wrong accounting game by laying off employees. Losing institutional knowledge and vetted skill sets is a quantifiable cost accelerator. To replace them at production levels from the external job market in a given fiscal year is not achievable. Losing workers is shortsighted and future investors are becoming wise to it.

Shocked that seasoned automotive journalists like yourselves would suggest an EV to someone living in PEI! The temperatures would kill 25% of the range 9 months out of the year.

That might be why they got laid off...either way Ars Technica put out a story a couple days ago saying some of them are coming back and the reason they got laid off was because the head of Supercharging Tinucci didn't lay off enough workers on her own. They didn't say she was one of the ones coming back. 500 mil worth of new chargers is the company line now. Maybe some people in the government or the other auto makers kicked in some investment, only time will tell.

Wrong Tesla has not halted expansion just reduced expenditures, it was just a department head issue that resulted in the mass firing of the charging department, Elon has re-hired a good number of key employees as he is expecting to spend $500 million in expansion and improved supercharger up-time this year.
Elon needs make a tesla hybrid. Trust me many will buy it. Which will be miracle if that happens... lol
