We remodeled and got our first Toto toilets with the Acquia models that have the duel flush button. BOTH toilets had broken buttons within the first year. So it's only a one flush system anyway because the button that's smaller is depressed in. At least the 1.6 gallon button works. I agree with the other duel flush annoyances. I'll stick with a handle next time.
I just bought the Toto Drake 2 with a 1.6 flush. Because 2 of our Toilets are fairly far to the sewer drain. There for need more water to get to the sewer. As a plumber. Some of these 1 Gal. Per flush toilets. Are not enough water to flush all the waste and carry it to the sewer. So people have to know about this before. Thinking only about water savings. Plus not enough water from a single flush. By not having enough water for a single flush of TP and waste. Can cause a clog down the drain line. And now your paying for a plumber. Something to think about.
As part of a total master bath remodel (doing it all myself) I just replaced our 30 year old Briggs, which probably used 4 gallons per flush (or more) with a new Toto Drake ii 1.28 gal single flush with elongated seat. I put a Toto Soft Close seat on it. I thought about getting a 1.0 gal but decided to go for slightly bigger capacity, which is still less than half the value our old Briggs had so I expect we will save enough $$ after about 3 years to pay for the Toto. When I first saw how much water was in the bowl I though "no way this is going to flush solids", but I was wrong. I've been amazed at how efficient this thing is. I'm loving this tornado flush system, and love the idea that I likely won't need to replace a stupid flapper valve every year or two. By the way, I did not use a wax ring for the install. Instead a friend told be about the Fluidmaster seal and that's what I used - it was so much easier and you can remove and reposition the toilet after the install, which is really nice.
I plan to buy the Drake toilet for my new house build. Glad I found this. Better yet you mentioned Darkwing Duck and you are absolutely rightist is underrated.
I tell you, I love Toto, but was not real happy with the flush on my 15-year old or so Toto Drake with the old power gravity until I switched the flapper from the Korky to Fluidmaster adjustable (with the holes on the side and a ring you rotate to adjust how much of the hole is exposed). I know Totos come with Korky/Lavelle flappers and Toto recommends them but there was a dramatic increase in the flush power.
hi, I just installed a Kohler Elliston from lowes. It is a 1.3 flush. I was very happy with it but after a week, one of my basement drains back flowed sewage into the basement. I am now looking to buy a 1.6 Toto drake for a little more water to push everything down. its a 1943 home with cast iron pipes
Great info! Just found out Home Depot lists 319 different models of Toto toilet, egads! From the reviews, these are items people find important, that I would never have thought of: rim height (15" is old standard, 17" new 'ADA'), elongated vs round, size of water pool in toilet (i.e. does poop hit water or sides). I have an old Toto Drake that I would like to buy again, but now the models are different it seems.
Can you explain why Toto has so many toilet seats and price points ? Still can't figure which one to buy. Give me a model number and i'll go with that. ALSO: why Cotton White, instead of just plain old White in toilets ???????? Thanks.
I live in Roswell NM. We have the hardest water in the country. Our water is used by water heater manufacturers to estimate the heater going out the day after the warranty. That being said, we keep our 3.5 gpr toilets and the flappers last several years, lol
I just bought a Toto 10 inch back toilet. It was in the 450 price range. Keeps on getting clogged will a 12 inch or 14 setback toilet have easier flow.
But which one can eat golf balls? Now, that's what I need to know. Seriously though, would the ultraflush II or III be the best flushing toilet, Im not sure if Im confusing the Ultraflush with another brand of toilet.
Would you go for the drake dual flush or single flush? Any considerations if i go for dual flush (more complex, easier to break, etc?) thanks and great content
Where do you find the Drake with the concealed trapway that you mentioned and showed a picture of @ 8:20? I have looked all over the Toto website and can't find it
I do not know if I can agree that flappers need to be changed every year. My toilet is 5 years old and no problem with flapper. My previous toilet was installed in 1980 and I changed the flapper twice.
Trying to decide on the best value Toto toilet, 1.28 in California, elongated. Need best flush technology to eliminate #2 (is it tornado?) I will add a toto bidet I have already purchased. What’s the best seat hight as I am concerned the bidet may make it too high for 10 yeAr old boy. Thx!
I recorded a response on TikTok which will be available on UA-cam later this week. Basically the height I've found to be a non-issue for children. Hi, thanks for the information you provided in this video. Knowing manufacturers constantly improve their product, at this time, what two piece ADA elongated toilet do you recommend?
Drake vs Drake 2 1.6 GPF. Is one better than the other? It seems like all the tech is the same? Drake 2 maybe has just a slightly different appearance?
That's so funny, my flappers (5 toilets) are all over 10 years old with 1 at 15 years, and still working fine! Not sure where you get they have to be replaced every year! @3:09
Thank you for your videos. I need a new tank for an old TOTO Bowl CST704, I believe the tank is an ST703, both are discontinued now, I believe the tank was replaced with ST706. I wish I had kept the cracked tank and try to fix it because I am having a hard time finding a replacement. Are there any other tanks that fit this bowl and work... ? is an 1.6pf... thanks again.
There are no other tanks that fit this bowl unfortunately. Your best bet is to find a local Toto dealer, preferably a small family run business/hardware store that's been in business for a long time and see if you luck out on them having a matching tank. If you're in Southern California try RSSA Home Improvement on Brookhurst in Anaheim.
Looking for a new toilet - I’ve read reviews on the Drake II (elongated) about how they have cleanse issues with ‘man parts’ - like the bowl is shallow. Has anyone had a similar experience? I really want a TOTO - but not this ‘feature’...can anyone confirm or deny? Do the Drake II and Ultra Max II (both elongated) have the same bowl ‘profile’? Thanks for any advice.

I’ve never had that problem nor has any of my family. We’ve all owned Toto‘s. Nor have I heard of that problem with any of my clients over the course of 16 years. Hi, I'm looking for a Drake II 1g elongated bowl with a 10in rough with the best flushing possible. If you could send me a few links that would be much appreciated
Unfortunately they do not make that particular toilet exactly in a 10 inch rough. Hi I have something called multiple chemical sensitivities disorder where I react to chemicals and I am noticing that all brands of toilets are putting anti microbial coating in their toilets and I am trying to find one without that added toxicity. I noticed some Toto toilets don’t have this but I do notice that ALL Toto toilets have a California 65 warning that the toilet contains lead and other materials that can cause cancer and birth defects. This makes me nervous. No other brands has the California 65 warning except Toto and I would like to know what is it about Toto toilets that makes them have to list that warning? I called Toto several times and got transferred around for 2 hours always getting conflicting answers. Some saying yes there are cancerous chemicals in it but you are fine if you don’t expose your skin. But you have to sit on the thing....and it’s not just the toilet SEAT I’m talking about because it’s listed for all the toilets that don’t even include the seat. With my compromised health I want to make sure I am getting a safe toilet and shouldn’t have to pick between two poisons, the anti microbial coating or cancerous issues. Thank you so much for your response.
I wouldn’t call Toto the “Lexus“ of toilets necessarily. I’m not sure where you got that idea. Toto definitely has some high-end toilets that are computerized and bidet function and play music. But they also have some basic toilets like the Drake. However if you wanted a step down from the Drake I would encourage you to look at the Toto Entrada. Hi,
I'm looking for a Drake II 1g 10in rough. I can't seem to find.
70 models may seem strange to people in the US. Go to a Japanese department store, and there will be a toilet DEPARTMENT.
_... there will be a toilet DEPARTMENT_
Sounds good to me! Let's go !
Good to know urine. Ready to take the plunge.
any suggestions or cautions for hard / high limestone water? Will the piston flush stand up to it?
... and before you unbolt the old toilet, how can you tell how big of an exit it has, when shopping for a similarly featured new one?
How does the ToTo Connect + compare with the Drake?
Connect plus is not a flushing system. Connect plus just means that you can add a bidet seat washlet and it will fit better. That’s it.
Do you like the Toto Vespin II?
Mechanically it is the same toilet as the Drake II. The only difference is the Vespin is skirted.
@@RemodelMedia thanks but any thoughts on it? like or no? Is it harder to install than the Drake II?

It does not. 1.28 and 1.0 only. It doesn’t need 1.6 to work right because it’s engineered to work properly on less water.
