Replacing a 1972 Dodge Challenger Heater Core on an AC Car. Nicest car we've ever had in the shop!

- This time on Sally’s Speed Shop, I replace the heater core on a beautiful ‘72 Dodge Challenger with a 440 Six Pack and Tremec 5 speed. It puts up a fight but in the end, heat is restored to the car so it can handle our tough Georgia winters. Lol! It’s an informative, step-by-step, how-to video I hope you’ll enjoy watching. Of course, it includes Moby and an appearance of my dad, Tim Davis. And, at the end, It’s replaced with another killer Mopar, which will be on a future episode.

I used to have a customer sadly he passed away but he had a 1965 GT350 Mustang signed by Shelby himself. everytime i worked on it had to close the doors to the shop had to many visitors wanting to look
That sounds like an amazing car! Shame he passed away and you don't get to work on it any more for him.
What an excellent car!!! I dig Mopars, especially, but to this old bicyclist, any vintage car is okay by me. With Dad and Moby helping you out, success is guaranteed! Looking forward to the next one. Take care. Aloha!
Thank you so much Jim! This car was a pleasure to work on!
You're a better man that I am, Gunga Din. There are few things I can't get motivated to do on any car or truck. But r and r on those HVAC modules is probably tops on my "find anything else to do" list. You're patience deserves 🏆
They definitely aren't fun, but how cool this car is made it much more tolerable haha
@@SallysSpeedShop Oh yeah, a chance to take a short rip would motivate me for sure. But I'd still be cussin' the whole time.
I'm like literally in tears of joy...sat feeling defeated when i smelled coolant in my interior of my 72" Challenger. I got the box out with much man handling and very little finesse or grace but, i was dejected with all of the moving parts and connections. After sitting for two years, just because of the heater box, your video made me try the repair and, I got it done, because of you. Thank you. Great video.
These old mopars are just cool just less stuff to break they didn't make them like they used
You guys are putting out some great content. Keep it up and your should soon have many more subscribers.
Thank you so much! I appreciate the encouragement and support so much!
I'm not particularly a Mopar guy , but always liked those and the Plymouth satellite's early 70's , sharp looking and with the 383 and 440 how could you go wrong , they will move 👍
It's hard to beat Mopar styling even if you aren't a Mopar guy haha
That thing is looking mean nice keep it coming great car 👍
It's such a great looking car! Thanks for watching!
myths about replacing the heater core are.. difficult, and expensive ,, but it look so easy,, well maybe not all model,, nice video,,,
It's not very difficult, just tedious and time consuming. Thanks for watching!
Man that's a great looking car I'm not particular on any makes
That is a nice Challenger. My dream car is a '69 Dodge Charger with hemi and a 6 speed. Black on black. Nice set of Cragars.
That is a great dream car choice! I like your style!
@@SallysSpeedShop thanks. Don't know if I'll ever be able to make it happen but a feller can dream.
What a great looking car 👍👍
It's seriously beautiful1
That’s an awesome looking muscle car! I f that’s a 1972, someone has swapped the 440 6-Pack into it. The 6bbl was only available in the 70-71. Government EPA killed hi-po muscle cars.😡
Ah, good to know! I knew it was customized a good bit from original so I'm not entirely surprised that it's not original to the car.
🤜💥🖐️🤘 nice car love the time lap jams
Glad you enjoyed them! My dad picked the music on these ones haha
@@SallysSpeedShop that was nice of him, especially since you made him work outside😁😂🤣😂🤣😂😁
"tough Georgia Winters". We call that spring
Yeah, ours are really pretty mild.
They're definitely not too bad here haha
I did not notice where the electrical connections went inside the box? Maybe it goes to an AC cycling switch?
Designers we’re literally ass holes who never put themselves under the hood if a part failed and needed to be replaced. What they should have done was, had a panel held in place with 4 sheet metal screws to get access to the heater core removal. I remember one car I owned in 1973, it was a 68 Beaumont which was Pontiacs version of the Chevelle in Canada only. Canada still built the Chevelle in Oshawa Ontario. I was able to remove the heater core from the front under the hood which was a 30 min job tops.
Blur out the plate number 👍🏻
you use the strap bracket to hold the box in place, don't need 2 ppl or a football...
Where are you located? Got a 73 that needs the same. Estimate of how much? I know it can differ.
MOBY: Hi jacob. didn't we have a fixed agreement for a long drive in my favorite car? Do I really have to call your mom and tell her how you are running from our agreement, or do you put the tools away and start the car?? 😜 😜
😂😂😂
Haha I'm sure he was unhappy about that one!
lol hate to say it but your dog is a creeper :P
Why would they want to make it look like a '69 Camaro?
