I think people sleep on Magic's ability to develop as a shooter. Later in his career he had seasons where he shot 38% from 3, and that was definitely not a priority in his training schedule. I believe that if he were to play nowadays he would've developed a shot, obviously not at Steph Curry levels but he was shooting 89% from the line after 1985. He had it in him, it was just another era.
20:36 That doesn’t matter as they were both compared on a 4 year period (which makes Luka even more impressive as he had to be graded on his first few playoff years while Harden was already a vet).
I think for picking out of those 3, it depends on who else is taken in an all time draft. If I have the 3rd pick, then Kobe and curry over magic makes more sense but if I have decent spacing with good scorers and just need a playmaker, the magic is always the best pick. If I had to choose between curry and Kobe, I would have to agree with jmxy and go with curry. After watching all of your all time drafts and a few others, I really noticed how helpful it is to have players that legitimately fit on any team. For example, Chris Paul and klay Thompson fits that description because they were both elite defenders and spacers in their time which can work next to any player. Especially in an all time draft, I would have a hard time putting Kobe next other alpha dogs or primary score first guys unless they already played with him. I think 2hype did a draft and someone picked luka, Kobe and wilt and that to me spells disaster
Definitely. I think it's that concept that Thinking Basketball talks about a lot, scalability - there's a graph that illustrates it really well on his site and it's a big contributor to why some teams (i.e. Hamptons five Warriors, beautiful game Spurs, Kobe & Shaq Lakers) perform better than others (2021-present Lakers), and why teams might underperform before adjustments are made (2011 Heat lacked depth and had two non-shooters on the court a lot; next year's team had more shooting, a more developed LeBron post game, and more spacing from Bosh). And there's more layers too because shooters off the ball open up spacing, but filling your team with spot-ups isn't as optimal as guys who can fly off screens and have some ability to put in on the deck, not to mention things like coaching and defense (Nash's Suns played spaced out but sacrificed size and some defense, while the Twin Towers Spurs sacrificed some spacing and scoring but crushed people on the other end). Era can affect this too - the Spurs could play two big men because both weren't total wrecks on the perimeter and guys didn't really kill drop coverage with 3's. I honestly think Luka with Kobe is not an awful fit, in that Kobe can play well off-ball, and when engaged is a very good point of attack defender. The big issue is what version of Wilt you're going with - if it's 70's Lakers Wilt, I think you might actually be OK, depending on era, since Wilt was an insane post defender and wasn't taking much off the table offensively, but spacing is a problem, and I feel like all three guys could eat possessions from each other if you're not careful. Building teams is fascinating.
Are you referring to Draymond missing off backboard cause if So i was talking about mid NBA game but unless im stupid and forgot what i was talking about well then yea
Honestly I don't think the Curry take is the worst if it is talking about an all time draft because between Steph, Magic and Kobe, Steph is the most portable player there and I would rather take a player who can fit into basically any system as opposed to Magic or Kobe who really have to be your system to maximize their talents.
Honestly, the thing that bugs me the most about the "bag" statement is that it ignores context. A lot of the guys we consider as having great bags are almost always guards, and they often need to develop a bunch of moves because they have other limitations - Harden can't blast by guys with quickness or finish through a ton of contact at the rim - he's only 6'5 in shoes, so he needs to create space, and what is he great at? Change of pace. Donovan Mitchell is only 6'1, Kyrie is only 6'3', and Steph is only 6'2 or 3 himself. None of these guys generate a ton of free throw attempts. LeBron, on the other hand, has the size, strength, & vertical gifts to jump over and through people, and he's complemented that by adding an excellent functional handle, especially at speed, a good 3-point shot, and a post game. In that sense, his development is a lot like Karl Malone's and Magic's.
Bruh Clique really said Lebron has the deepest bag in the league, MORE DEEPER THAN STEPH CURRY!!!! Curry’s bag consists of logo shots, numerous break apart defender dribble combos, also don’t forget Curry’s finishing ability as well, he’s also ambidextrous too, plus his passing ability as well!

Defs agree on this definition of "having a bag", its how i've always understood it at least. I think the issue is its just a really vague term that means too many different things to different people.
Guard pick really comes down to what team you want to build. Magic is the greatest play maker and defender of the 3 so if you can get offensive dominate players he's my man Kobe is the best all around player with the deepest bag but his mentality makes him a player you have to build around. An steph is an offensive multi-colored with great handles and his deep ball spacing the floor out to make his team more dominate inside Tldr: Kobe if you can build the team around him Steph if you need the best offensive power Magic if you need playmaking and D
@@_Bes__ Kobe is better at perimeter D and iso guarding but Magic offers defensive versatility More rebounds more steals and a better switch artist if your bigger teammates go down. If I’m picking an all time team to be undefeated I’m picking bron at pg and Jordan at sg. That’s a cheat code right there. Bron over every point guard ever.
I think with picking steph vs Kobe it depends which pick it is. If its your first pick then its Kobe, because he's a better play and the personality problems wont be an issue if you pick players who worked hard. Most of Kobe's issues with players was because they simply didn't work hard. But when you put him in a situation where they do, the dream team for example, he elevated their work ethic and they in turn elevated their game. If the pick is like your 2nd or 3rd pick then pick steph because at that point your building around somebody else and steph melds together well with other stars. I think it should be noted that Kobe's game does fit with other stars pretty well though. He's a shot creator meaning he just needs to ball and he'll score, but he won't be a detriment otherwise. He's shown he can take the sidekick role with shaq and while they fought for the primary position, a lot of it was due to shaq declining due to a lack of work ethic.
I worked with this guy during the summer who said Trevor Ariza had the potential to be better than Kobe and if Yao ming was drafted in the same year as LeBron he would’ve been picked first…

Not really. Take a look at both of their games and magic can only be taken for his playmaking and probably rebounding. Every other aspect of the game goes to Kobe.
