Great to see my mother tongue in comparison. Kashmiri language has lots of words derived from persian language. Kashmiris have been in Kashmir for at least 5000 years
Kashmiri is basically a Northern Indo-Aryan language but because of being at the very border of Iranian and Indic language families, it has influences from both. Persian has had an enormous effect on Kashmiri with persian derived vocabulary comprising as much as 40% of total vocabulary. However that should not be equated with Kashmiri having a genealogical relationship with Persian. They belong to very different language families and on top of that Kashmiri has peculiarities even among the Indo-Aryan languages. Kashmiri preserves some of the most archaic features of Proto-Indo-Aryan which have been lost in other Indo-Aryan languages. Thus Kashmiri possesses similarities with "Vedic" Sanskrit which itself is much older and archaic than Classical Sanskrit of Panini. Yes Kashmiri has huge vocabulary derived from persian but Kashmiri also preserves some of most archaic root vocabulary of Proto-Indo-Aryan or "Vedic Sanskrit". This makes Kashmiri to be at an interesting crossroads of Languages. The reason for different grammatical structure of Kashmiri is because of its verb placement. Kashmiri has V2 verb order. This is a very unique verb order and is present only in Germanic languages, Khasi Language and Ingush language of Russia. This mean the verb is placed at the middle like English which too is a Germanic language. However English doesn't always follow this rule unlike other Germanic languages. E.g I am going home. As you can see the verb "going" is in middle thus worb order is SVO In Kashmiri it is similar Be gasey gharé The verb is Gasey which means "going" and it is at 2 place like in English. Unlike say Urdu/Hindi Mein Ghar jaraha hoon The object Ghar or home is before verb Jaraha. So despite vast influence of Persian on Kashmiri, it is very different in structure even when compared to it's neighbouring Indo-Aryan languages let alone Persian. I hope it helps.
@@cobraimploder lot of people know all this but i don't think they watch this stuff. What i said isn't something extraordinary rather very common fact.:) And am glad if it helps.
@@loudfiend4051 i have no agenda. I am interested in linguistics and have studied Dardic languages such as Kashmiri for years. I was just detailing the classification & details about it. Similarities in Languages or origins doesn't mean you will have the same political views or you will consider yourself similar in identities. Kashmiri is a highly conservative Indo-Aryan Language with huge Iranian influence. It is a fact based on a century of research. I didn't connect anybody with anyone. Linguistics have nothing to do with your political views as well as identity. What you want to connect with is based on millions other factors rather than just language. Peace.

@@vishalsheth1888 I don't think Race conciousness was prevalent those days. Not as much as it is today. But, yes, those days people knew the importance of communalism (in its healthy form) and intermingled with the community very well. 1) [obr] "cloud" = Russian OBLako / облако (btw, in Russian oblako means "small cloud" while "big dark cloud" = tuča and in Persian diminutive for "cloud" should look like abrak: compare abrak vs. oblako) 2) čatr "umbrella" - this is very close to Russian šatior / шатёр which means "large tent, tented roof": this meaning corresponds to Persian čâdor "tent; chador" which is related to Persian čatr "umbrella" 3) âb "water" - exists in Baltic languages: Lithuanian upė "river" 4) dah "10" = Russian DESiat' / десять 5) javân "young" - Avestan yavan, Lithuanian jaunas, Russian jun / юн (here J = English Y) 6) deraxt = Russian dierievo / дерево (maybe originally deregvo as in Dregoviči, East Slavic tribe: so you see dereg- = derax-) 7) sabz "green", sabzi "vegetable" - maybe related to Slavic kapusta "cabbage" (kapus -- sapus - saps - sabz, for comparison: Persian sarvar = Slavic golvar' --> Rus. glavar', Sanskrit aśman = Lithuanian akmuo/ pl. akmenys, Russ. kamen' - you see this S to G/K correspondance in certain words) 8) dorost "correct, right, perfect", originally "healthy" - corresponds to Russian zDRAVSTvuj "Hello!", originally "Be healthy!" (Russian "bud' zDOROV!") - South Slavic zdrav "healthy" corresponds to authentic Russian "zdorov", so it should be zDOROVSTvuj (compare this -DOROUST to Tajik durust). Prefix z- is voiced (before voiced consonant) version of Russian s(o)- which makes Perfective aspect for the verb 9) garm "warm, hot" - corresponds to Russian GORiač "hot" (here -ač is participle suffix from verb G_Rieti / ГъРеть "to heat up", thus "heating up" - while Persian GAR-M(a) is G_Rieti MOgiot / ГЪРеть МОгёт "able to heat up") 10) (mi)kone "s/he does" = Ukrainian vy-konuje "s/he does" 11) ast "is" = Russian jest' 12) mutr "sweet", Sanskrit madhuri = Russian miedov(yj) "made from honey or honey-like / sweet", miod "honey"

@Nature Lover This is not correct Vedic. Specially changed to look Lithuanian-alike. There were no -s in Vedic/Sanskrit: kaH, svapinaH, daivaH, naH. (Only in words like nabhaS where it's part of stem, not like in Lithuanian.) The same was in pre-Slavic where these -H' (soft aspiration) transformed to -j (in adjectivals) or just disappeared: koH = koj (kto is koj-toj "who/what-that?" contraction). Second, no -e in Vedic might be possible: all Sanskrit E are Vedic AI (like dEvah = dAIvah). Third, Slavic Y (Ы) sound originally was a thriftong Ew(i) ~ wE(i), production of unstressed Ow' ~ w'O. So we see: KaH tvaH/tvam asi = Koj/koH twei/tw'oH jesi? (Serbo-Croatian: Ko ti jesi?). Here in Vedic we see Nominal to Accusative-style corruption froze (similar in Slavic Accusative in some cases froze in Genetive-style): originally tvaH instead of tvam. However Slavic's Accusative is t(w)iom which became Russian-alike tia (тя) similar to svam: s(w)iom ~ sia (ся) particle. Also notice Belarusian jos'c' for jest(i). So Accusativization and Belarusization gives us: KoH tw'om (i)osi? Total match to Vedic except a=o. Next sentence: Jesm(i)~(i)osmi syp(i)nost(i)~sow'pinostioo t(o)voja~tow'oHioo u~on(toro) tiom(i)noj~tiomionoi no(k)c'i~noktioi. Btw, Ukrainian temriava "darkness" = Sanskrit timiraga. Next sentence: Ogniu~ogniom dodam (Ukrainian dodaty "to add") u~on(toro) t(o)vojo~tow'oHio s(i)Rdiio~ziordioio (compare Avestan zaerda (zairda), Balochi zird, Russian polu-sierdije "half-heart"). Next sentence: T(o)da~to(H)dioo (Ukrainian todi, Serbo-Croatian tad, tada) Div(o)~DiovoH twei~tw'oH jesi ~ (i)osi, nash~nosioH v(i)sie-pod(i)~viosio-podioH (compare to Gos-pod(i) "Lord (God)", Persian-alike (gus) fadi, where fadi = Sanskrit pati = "lord" and gus is analogical to gurg~weirka/vRka "wolf", gu-rizad~wei-raichati (Avestan "out-flows", Russian-alike vy-riechaietsia, riechka) so GUs = weis~(Sanskrit)vis/Slavic v(i)s(i)~viosioH "whole, total, ALL-ish"). So you see how Slavic is internally more-Sanskritic than Lithuanian, though both are very close)))

Great job! Lots of love from a non-resident Kashmiri settled in New Delhi. Modern Kashmiri arose in the 14th century, with the onset of Muslim conquest of Kashmir, as a concoction of Persian etymology and Sanskrit grammar. That's the reason why Hakeem was able to formulate sentences as he was able to pick up the Persian words that are firmly etched in mainstream Kashmiri. You guys should make a video comparing Persian with Sanskrit, the two oldest South Asian Indo-European languages (Persian has considerably evolved from the language that was spoken in ancient Iran, whereas Sanskrit has remained largely intact but its use has almost vanished). You will be stunned. Good luck :)
Sanskrit and Persian are themselves similar due to the Aryan migration. In addition to that Kashmiri Muslim empires were quite local and were not local like the Kashmiri Shahmiri empire.
Islam was brought in Kashmir by Hazrat Shah-e-Hamadan of Persia some 600 years ago, Hamadani Sahib is regarded as having brought various crafts and industries from Iran into Kashmir. He came to Kashmir with his 700 followers including some weavers of carpets and shawls, who taught the craft of pashmina textile and carpet-making to the local population. So there is an old deep connection between Persian and Koshur people, cultures and languages. Infact there’s strong Persian influence on my languages Urdu and Punjabi also. Bahador plz make videos on Punjabi vs Persian and Punjabi vs Kashmiri. Much ♥️ to our dear Kashmiri and Persian brothers from 🇵🇰

I am from Ladakh, which kind of is the closest buddy of Kashmir and also comes under Kashmir. Kashmir has inherited a lot from Iran. From culture, food, language, carpets, music, etc
@never again there is no such division. dardic is a language family which comes from indo-aryan language. Kashmiri for example is direct descendent from classical sanskrit and was culturally isolated where as all other Indian languages like punjabi Sindhi, urdu,Hindi etc evolved from regional prakrit language. To say that kashmiris arent affected by the Indian history is bulshit. The most important city in kashmir valley "Srinagar" for example for example was founded by emperor ashok of mauryan dynasty. There has been a lot of time kashmiri emperors ended up ruling north India. Kashmir was under an Indian empire under mauryan, gupta, mughals,Delhi Sultanate period. It is stupid to say that people did not migrate from kashmir and vice versa.
Actually Kashmir is very far from Iran so why are Iranians very close to Kashmiris in many ways. Kashmir is Central Asia in general and the first mention of the Aryan Race is in the Northwestern Indian subcontinent and merged Central Asia. The Aryan Race then went Westwards. The Kashmiris have even more in common with people of Hunza, Chitral, Pamirs, Tajik, etc. since these are neighbors. I am a Dogra from Jammu and have lived in Kashmir for quite some time.

Persian was the second language of kashmir after "Kashmiri" during the rule of Shahmiri Dynasty, Mughals and Afghans. It was replaced by Urdu in 1907 by a hindu king.
Irfan Khan, I hope you're not taking pride in that. Persian is an absolutely foreign language. For Kashmiri people, Kashmiri should (naturally) be the first choice followed by other neighbouring languages like Dogri, Urdu, Balti, Punjabi, Hindi. Now, because Hindi-Urdu is the lingua-franca of the northern Indian Subcontinent, Kashmiris should see Hindi-Urdu as their second language. Persian is a totally foreign language with no religious significance either, unlike Arabic. So I see no reason why Kashmiris should want to have Persian in their society. This is my opinion; the decision of course rests with the Kashmiris!
There are hundreds of other similar words in Kashmiri and Farsi language. Farsi (Persian) language was medium of education during the time of our grand parents (I am 25 right now). In fact The Great Allama Iqbal called kashmir as IRAN I SAGEER (small Iran) in his poetry.

@dave johnson there is theories that تاریخ is derived from تاریک which means darkness. cause history is in darkness somehow another theory is that تاریخ or مورخ derived from ماه رخ which means face of the moon
Could you make a video in which you compare Iranian Persian with Tajiki Persian? Would be nice because it is such an interesting country for an Iranian.
@Nadia Khan yes it is one language although it is hard for me to understand just one sentence of Tajiki Persian because of their Russian influence and hard their accent. 😂
@White Angle from Heaven do you really want to tell me that Tajiki is not Persian? And I wrote separated about the accent and the Russian influence and did not wrote anything about a Russian accent. Hindi and Urdu are seen by many linguists as one language so yeah they might be just one language.
@White Angle from Heaven well understanding is not really a reason for saying that they are two different languages. I personally do live in Germany in Nordrhein-Westfalen if I see someone who is Bavarian out of the great cities in Bavaria I actually can understand anything but if they speak that Village-Bavarian spoken on the countryside it is hard to understand them as well same with Austrian and especially with Swiss German which all also have partially different grammar but that all is still just one German language although I can't understand it so understanding it not automatically the criteria if something is an own language or not.
The brothers are actually the Persian language is one of the direction (branch) of the Tajik language. But since we can not say this because of political considerations. In Tajikistan itself, more than 40 dialects of the Tajik language are the old languages of Sogd and Pamir languages. Only in Tajikistan more than 40 dialects. Regarding the Tajik of Iran, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and China, we know little about the culture of dialects. After the British Empire of Russia and the Turks, we know little about ourselves. But the Kashmiris are very close in person and to custom. Kashmiris should know about their history and not only Kashmiris, but also Kurds, Nuristanis, Punjabis and others.
Nadia Khan it’s completely the same I am tajik from Afghanistan in fact the real Farsi with the right pronunciation is spoken by our people’s ( tajiks) because the Farsi Language famous Poet were tajiks and the first Persian poem were also tajik Iranian make the Farsi awful they have very bad pronunciation If I was there with the Kashmiri guy I could answer all in the first second I was quite surprised that Kashmiri language is so similar to our language

Wow kashmir, it's great Love Kashmir & Iran and both languages from PAKISTAN
Great to see my mother tongue in comparison. Kashmiri language has lots of words derived from persian language. Kashmiris have been in Kashmir for at least 5000 years
@@AHSANALI-tb3hs haha. Pakistan is from 1947. Kashmir has been there from at least 5000 years. :)
@@ashudhar so you don't make any sense. I am not here for any political debate. Did the present day India exist before 15 Aug 1947.
E.g
I am going home.
As you can see the verb "going" is in middle thus worb order is SVO
In Kashmiri it is similar
Be gasey gharé
The verb is Gasey which means "going" and it is at 2 place like in English.
Unlike say Urdu/Hindi
Mein Ghar jaraha hoon
The object Ghar or home is before verb Jaraha.
So despite vast influence of Persian on Kashmiri, it is very different in structure even when compared to it's neighbouring Indo-Aryan languages let alone Persian.
I hope it helps.
Was just looking for this comment. Surprised that not a lot of people seem to be aware of that here.
@@cobraimploder lot of people know all this but i don't think they watch this stuff. What i said isn't something extraordinary rather very common fact.:)

Hrishabh Singh It is because it somehow connects Kashmiris with Indians to support your agenda?

2) čatr "umbrella" - this is very close to Russian šatior / шатёр which means "large tent, tented roof": this meaning corresponds to Persian čâdor "tent; chador" which is related to Persian čatr "umbrella"
3) âb "water" - exists in Baltic languages: Lithuanian upė "river"

8) dorost "correct, right, perfect", originally "healthy" - corresponds to Russian zDRAVSTvuj "Hello!", originally "Be healthy!" (Russian "bud' zDOROV!") - South Slavic zdrav "healthy" corresponds to authentic Russian "zdorov", so it should be zDOROVSTvuj (compare this -DOROUST to Tajik durust).

Old perisan book avestas and Vedas are similar persia means present day Iran country

Kashmir has inherited a lot from Iran. From culture, food, language, carpets, music, etc
@Raees Zargar dardic languages are indo aryan
What part of Ladakh are you from ?
My childhood friend, Hakeem Mubashir from Manasbal.
Proud of you dear, keep shining.
Kashmir is also called Iran-e-Sageer.

Nadia Khan it’s completely the same
I am tajik from Afghanistan in fact the real Farsi with the right pronunciation is spoken by our people’s ( tajiks) because the Farsi Language famous Poet were tajiks and the first Persian poem were also tajik Iranian make the Farsi awful they have very bad pronunciation If I was there with the Kashmiri guy I could answer all in the first second I was quite surprised that Kashmiri language is so similar to our language
