People playing this game for the first time won't know how lucky they are having it in english. Grinding stuff out in the original game was so hard because I couldn't understand anything lmao.
the grind overall for things in this game has been significantly reduced which is really nice (it's still pretty grindy just not nearly as bad as before) for example the golden sword used to cost 300,000 arena points, now it only costs 125,000, so it takes less than half the amount of time it used to stuff like this is a very minor change in the scheme of things but also underappreciated imo, yeah the arena's fun and all but i definitely don't wanna HAVE to do the same arena tournament nearly 100 times just for the golden sword

EXTRA TIP!: If you also want to farm daifuku and get tons of ability orbs you can use the general store next to the pawn shop. First you should craft the virtuous hood and equip it, then use Leon’s chicken method until you have around 300 Ryo to burn. Next go to the general store and buy tons of ginseng for 1 ryo each (and I mean tons! I normally get 297). This will net you a massive amount of virtue, and you can gain even more by running back to the pawn shop and selling off all the ginseng you just bought. In total you can gain 100,000+ virtue at once which you can use to get as much daifuku as you need.

Just a little addendum; the tags used in the Chicken Racing are the exact same as the ones used in the Gambling Parlor minigames. If you're confident in your skills, it's possible to earn the 7000 tags needed for Leon's method by playing those instead of spending 70 Ryo in seed money first. Koi-koi is especially great for this, as on Expert difficulty you can bet 200 tags per point, so you can hit 7000 with just a few good rounds.

I’d like to add its probably best to stick to short races. So much can go wrong in the mid and long races, just start the races just don’t bet on those ones
I always have bad luck in short races because condition doesn't matter as much in short races as it does in longer races. In a long race if you have a bunch of chickens with poor conditions and one with a great condition (especially if it has a streak of good past results) you should probably bet on that one. It might not start out in first but it'll fly past the others at the end of the race for the win. I feel like short races are more unpredictable because those last second boosts from high condition make less of a difference. I always see non-favourites winning short races.
Thanks for the video. I'd add that short races seem completely random, even more so than mid or long ones. I was on a winning streak with long races, then only losing on short ones, so I started watching them without betting in order to skip them (you need to watch the race 'til the end in order to move on to the next). It's a drag but seems worth the time.
One thing I noticed in Ishin that is different from most RGG games (maybe all with gambling, but can’t say for certain) is that the Platinum plates in this game are worth so much less. Is every yakuza game, the platinum plates would be worth the same amount of yen it would cost to buy it in chips. For example, if the platinum plate was 1500 chips, and one chip was worth 100 yen, then it would cost 150k yen to buy and sell it. In this game however, the platinum plate’s chip cost is worth 15 ryo, but sells for only 3 ryo and some change. Idk if it’s a bug or not, but it makes getting money through gambling way more of a slugfest
I actually said this last night. Upgrading Amon's sword is a nightmare. Since you need 3 pairs of 20 of the rarest items and I'm getting really bad rng with the final dungeon boss. In Yakuza like a dragon this was fine since you knew where to obtain rare items and you would get them 100% of the time
@@marloges that’s the way I did it before getting advise from anyone, hoped there was a faster better way that I didn’t know about. Thanks for letting me know that the way I did it might be the best way.
thank you, i was constantly relying on stocking up a bunch of produce from the farming side content and doing all the trades up to ginseng it makes me a decent amount of money (up to 10 ryo or more) since i was really bad with gambling, but now i have a good idea on how to farm more quickly
Problem that I’m facing right now is getting the material for the end game swords (dragon sword, divine swords, etc.). You can find the materials for the sword in the last few trooper missions but man does it take a long time, the enemies are super spongy at this point and it takes 10 min per missions and if you get one of the materials for the sword to drop then that’s pretty lucky. Probably would need to complete them above 100 times. Anyone managed to craft any of the end game sword? If so how did you do it?
Not sure how much this could help, but leaving the chicken race menu and going back to the receptionists menu and entering it again resets the race. Use this method to refresh races until you have one chicken in good (arrow up) condition and four in bad (arrow down) condition. I’m not sure if the good chicken can still lose or not, but in my experience the “good” chicken has always won the race.
you are correct is harder to win if all chickens have too many circles/good arrows the BEST choice is one in top arrow, and all others with bad arrows plus triangles or X
i'm becoming convinced this game is just rigged against me specifically because i've been doing this for over 30 minutes and i've lost every. single. god. damn. race. even if only 1 is in good condition in a long race, it somehow magically loses, i'm gonna lose my mind from this game at this point
@@swaggymungdaal nah, i’m starting to think the prior placement and predictions are the most important stats. also do short races if possible, long races have the most upsets in my experience.
this feels far more random than it should be. i have had races where the chicken had triangle-O-O-O (all double circles) in best condition, come in 3rd against two chickens that were in second to worst condition. the fact thats a possibility is really frustrating. especially when something similar to it happens multiple times in a row. a chicken with horrible condition comes in first, while my chosen chicken in great condition is literally dead last. still, thanks for yhe guide! did get me enough money that i needed! eventually and after a couple horus of grinding it out
trying this I've noticed a glitch (at least PC version, feb 27 2023). when you finish place your bet. going back (with circle on PS or B on Xbox ) you'll exit from chicken race minigame giving back your points but if you are fast enough can start the race before go back to receptionist so race will start with bets places but you didn't rlly spend points. i found bc i pressed B many times to cancel race but at same time i wad fast to start race and noticed (after failing bet haha) my original points still there.
Personally my favorite way of grinding money fast is farming a ton of produce and have a ton of fertilizer so when I have my farm ready, I use the fertilizer, harvest the produce, leave the farm, go back, then keep doing that and just sell produce because that’s the easiest category to do and gets a lot of ryo pretty fast
I'm sorry, but farming sucks. You have to do it if you want the platinum and there are some decent materials you get from doing it, but in terms of getting rich, it's simply not worth it. The amount of labour that goes into it does NOT pay off.
@@SpaceCattttt really? I guess because I kept doing a load of side stuff and kept useing my virtu and maxed almost everything but the virtu stuff farming is just really easy, I’d recommend it if you wanna just farm if you’ve maxed everything in farming but it could also be useful for getting the ryo you need for the chicken race thing that devilleon is talking about
@@SpaceCattttt idk man it's definitely a decent source of passive income, i wouldn't suggest fertilizer though, just fill your entire farm with ginseng so whenever you come back to the house for any reason after doing other stuff in the game, you can sell each one for 2500 mon a pop definitely not "the best" way to make money in the game but is still very convenient and easy to do, besides once you've done all the other farm related stuff it pretty much serves no purpose anymore anyway aside from that
Smart man I use the ginseng method I created when playing and it the best method for money it take 20 fertilizer to complete but it can be done in 5mins I make 400 ginseng in 30mins and watch the Ryo roll in
If you're talking leveling styles just get a low dmg weapon and run a high lv dungeon and smack them around for a LONG time... leveling in ishin is super grindy no matter what you do tbh
I've been doing it myself a bit and only on chapter 3, if you have at least 3 ryo to get 300 tags or so that'd be a good start, but yeah you just bet 10 minimum for every combination of the chicken you chose to win, with 10 you get anywhere from 600-900+ tags even on 10 tags bet, and as you get more tags you can slowly bet more and more to where you can bet 100+ and then 300+
So there’s a small hang after clicking ‘Exit Race’, and clicking Exit will give you your tags back instantly. So if you press the back button a couple times after making all your bets, then click Start Race before the screen turns black, your bet goes in, AND you get your tags back. 🗿
Been trying this for over 2 hours now, literally every single race some random chicken gets a mega buff and wins right at the end. Yet to win a single race.
Something to note is that while the EXP items are a great way to level your styles, it's absolutely awful for the grey "general" EXP. Each item only gives 3000 EXP, which you can easily get in one or two random fights. For general EXP, you're going to have to go into the dungeons if you want to grind.
Does the exp-boosting food item do much? It's a bit frustrating when there's no way to see how long the effect lasts or how much of an exp boost it gives
I’ve been playing cho Han. Seems to be a glitch as when I bet 200 on snake eyes and she rolls a 1-5 it still pays out 5-8000 tags. I then get the silver hammers to sell and use.
Chicken racing is simple in theory, but thanks to the insanely unfair RNG in this game, you can bet on the "obvious winner" 10 times in a row without winning. Now, I don't know if that's just my personal bad luck or not because all the guides I've looked at make it sound as if winning is "SO EASY" and that you'll be a billionaire in 10 minutes or less! Well, while I have amassed a 600 Ryo fortune, it took me MANY hours to do so, and considering that some of the weapons you need to buy in order to 100% this beast cost about 600 Ryo EACH, I honestly don't know how many fucking months it will take of constantly watching some stupid birds running and then reloading ad infinitum. None of the other Yakuza games were like this. Jesus Christ!
@@Narukou Sorry to hear that. Then again, the RNG can work in your favour as well (when it wants to). Yesterday, I got 8 wins in a row. So I kept going and......won nothing 10 times in a row. And I didn't do anything different. It's just the way it goes. Especially on the medium length races. You never know how those will turn out. Still, once you do win a few times, it's almost impossible to spend it all. Unless you want to forge all the weapons.....ugh.
Yeah people are full of shit, this mini game is trash. Not reliable at all. If you're gonna use this method, just bet on the chicken that has the biggest payout. The odds are the same either way. At least if the RNG shines on you you'll get more money than betting on the "sure thing" which has just as much likelyhood of fucking losing as any other chicken because it's completely and utterly random and stupid.
@teppolundgren unfortunately everything is much more expensive in this game. It wasn't like that in Japanese release. When you want platinum trophy you need incredibly amount of money, much, much more than in JP release. RNG was different there. In most Yakuza games you have a mini game in which you can make money, those games has strategy and if you follow the strategy, I think I can say, you've 100% guarantee that you will win. I understand that it's a race but there also should be strategy which allowed you to win most of the time a specially that they increase prices of everything in this game. I'm playing this game but I can't recommended this game to my friends. They've changed too much in core mechanic of the game.
@@Narukou There is a trick with the chicken racing. Bet on as many chickens as you want (all of them if possible) and then press exit race....but instead of closing the minigame, you quickly press start race before the screen goes black. The race will start and you will either win or lose. The difference is that you will never lose any tags no matter what, while keeping all the ones you win. I've made 8000 Ryo using this method! As for getting the trophy, money isn't the problem anymore. The real problem is the RNG. You have to play the battle dungeons hundreds of times hoping that you'll get the materials you need to craft things. It's a horrible system, and this is quickly becoming the most tedious platinum trophy in the series.
Jet black belts are from some of the first battle dungeons (bandit caves) platinum filings are a rare drop from when you extract water from wells around the map
I got by most dungeons with weapons obtained through story fights. I only got to crafting when I reached the third tier dungeon missions, by that point, you should have amassed a decent amount of materials to be able to craft a bunch of things at the blacksmith!
hey devilleon could u explain how u get all heat books pls im in trouble with it i need 3 to unlock the gun the sword style and brawler style the sumbo one.
Do we know of a way to get weapon seals like the ones that are on the higher weapons with the four spikes on them or can you not get them by disassembling them?
This guide'll REALLY help but do you happen to know if your blacksmith level carries over to NG+ or will you be covering that at a later video? I don't wanna go to NG+ till I have everything I need if the level resets.
I don't know if this helps but I feel like you will never have a good result on your *very first* bet. I always lost, no matter how much I followed. So on my first bet I just did a scrub 50 tag bet to get it out of the way, saved again, and tried again. Following the same methods in the video, I won the next 2 races and I went from 3000 tags to 24000 tags. So the take-away from this, I think, is that the first one might always be a loss, so just do a minimal bet to get that initial conversation bond out of the way, and then you'll start being able to win!
Important thing I learned is there is no point in buying daifuku for styles that hit level 25. You do not get new orbs out of it. You have to buy all the skills and limit break with a master to boost the level cap to 50. I'm actually in a bit of trouble with this because the only daifuku I can buy are the generic soul orb daifuku but my soul orb level is so high it takes me like 5 daifuku to get one orb, that's 50k of virtue. To get that much, I need to sell 99 hammers. I did half an hour of grinding to get about 400 hammers. So half an hour of grinding will net me 4 soul orbs. I limit broke brawler and am almost done with sword but gun and sword dancer are like only half done. It's gonna require a lot of tedious grinding to max them all out.
One thing worth knowing with the (current) version of the game is that Cho-Han is bugged, it allows you to win when you choose the “Guess both numbers” option while playing so long as the two following are true: 1. Both dice you guess are the same number (1-1, 2-2, 3-3, etc.) 2. Of the dice rolled at least one of them matches the number you guess. Meaning if you guess 1-1 and she rolls a 6-1. This as of right now pays dividends as you are betting around 150-200 tags at a time for a pot of 5000-7000 tags- on top of the potential of doubling when you play against the house. I would not be surprised if this is fixed soon, however. This allowed me to get the Golden Gun relatively easily
Occasionally it she will throw different numbers than you bet, but its much more consistence in wins then betting on chicken race when you start with small ryo thanks for the find
I haven't started the Chicken races yet, but now I have a good idea, Already have all the Virtue Points spent where they need to be. I am pretty close too 70 ryo, looks like I'll have to grind a bit more. When next I am on, apart from the Substories I'll check out the Chicken races. Thanks.
How much do I need for starters to setup this chicken race farm method? I don't have 70 ryo yet but one guide said I need atleast 36 ryo then bet triple exacta at 300 each. Really need to find some money for it so I could start the farm and enjoy the other side stuff with the money to burn.
@@Ulqui_210 It was the substory about the lady who talks a lot but that only gives you one out of the five golden cases you need for the blade. Thanks though
I'm pretty sure you can farm that item in one of the later dungeon missions as well. The dungeon has so many materials, you will eventually have to go through it to get some stuff.
Stupid question but where is the antique guy supposed to spawn who you need to finish the ebisu pawn workers bond mission? Cant find him to save my life
Ooooh. Neat! I was wondering what all the shapes were for the chicken game. All I looked at were the lowest number predictions. Left with with around 30 Ryo. Only had like 300 tickets max at the time too.
Got max rep for Fushini and Rakunai using the plates method as I'd maxed all my virtue stuff before hand, and selling like 5+ plates in each area just unlocked even more virtue for getting max rep. Also levellied the smith to 16 using chicken racing to get pts for silver hammers. Only issue now is how much the best sword is even with max discount - 375 Ryo is, quite frankly, insane. Wtf was RGG smoking by increasing the costs so much in the western release?!? :(
If you want to get that 70 ryo, Another Life farming is a great way to do it. It take time to build up the farm, but eventually you'll be able to makes dozens of ryo using the trade ledger.

is it me or do half of the wins not provide the cash back that was put in? after spending 80 ryo and wining 3 times after turning in the plates im ending up with a few ryo less then when i started. seems that even if you win your paying so much to the different bets. i tried doing the last one you recomended and the pay out is less then all the sticks you put into it.
basicaly only way this works is doing half of the bets into the last part. then not only do you win but you have to get the bet you placed. simply put spending 80 ryo to get 8k tags to win back 30k tags is no good. with that 30k you have to spend that on plat and get a 3 ryo plate that costs 300 tags, idk seems a bit odd to me how this is working in the end.
Hello can anyone explain me what elements do? Poison of course debilitates enemies and they get damage over time (best element in my opinion) but light, wind, dark, what they do? is pokemon like were certain enemies are weak to wind or light? lol
the light element will stun enemies, the wind element will knock over enemies, the dark element will give you back health every hit you deal to a enemy. there are two other ones as well called fire and lighting, lighting to shock enemies and fire will put enemies on fire. hope this helps.
This method is really good for money but working on the equipment completion is eating it all back up again. Some pieces of equipment look like they'll cost over 500 ryo, do you know if this is correct or will these weapons be enchanted ones? I hope so because they're free. The material grind for all these weapons and seals atm feels insane
The weapons upgrade grind was evne bad in the Japanese version. most people hated it. you had to run the dungeon MULTIPLE times just to have the chance to get the item. and sometimes you didn't even get the item you need after 10 runs.
the original japanese game had WORSE grind, also the completion list was LONGER and more boring to do This new game has insane grind, but the old game was at least 5 times worse

Even after doubling my Points I was still at a loss of about 30 Ryo starting from 76 Ryo. The Chicken races method doesn't work all that well for us who have the PC version.
You don't ever buy tags again. That's your mistake. You simply win tags up to 12k. Then you can bet 300 on every category. When you exchange for platinum plates you always leave yourself 12k tags and it's all profit. There is no losing money. Only losing tags which you reload if that happens

I’d like to add its probably best to stick to short races. So much can go wrong in the mid and long races, just start the races just don’t bet on those ones
I've had worse luck in short races rather than mid and long ones.
@@KazumaKuzuryu4162 that’s unfortunate me and some of my other buddies all had issues with mid and long
Good tip ;)
I always have bad luck in short races because condition doesn't matter as much in short races as it does in longer races.
In a long race if you have a bunch of chickens with poor conditions and one with a great condition (especially if it has a streak of good past results) you should probably bet on that one.
It might not start out in first but it'll fly past the others at the end of the race for the win.
I feel like short races are more unpredictable because those last second boosts from high condition make less of a difference. I always see non-favourites winning short races.
@@TheTrophyFanatic Indeed.
This will come in handy when I finally get around to playing Ishin! Many thanks.
Glad you made this guide, it was super confusing at first and you made it super easy to understand! looking forward to more Ishin content

My favorite channel for anything Yakuza related!
In Yakuza like a dragon this was fine since you knew where to obtain rare items and you would get them 100% of the time
Amon’s sword? Is it worth the grind?

I’m not sure if the good chicken can still lose or not, but in my experience the “good” chicken has always won the race.
you are correct
is harder to win if all chickens have too many circles/good arrows
the BEST choice is one in top arrow, and all others with bad arrows plus triangles or X
i'm becoming convinced this game is just rigged against me specifically because i've been doing this for over 30 minutes and i've lost every. single. god. damn. race. even if only 1 is in good condition in a long race, it somehow magically loses, i'm gonna lose my mind from this game at this point

Personally my favorite way of grinding money fast is farming a ton of produce and have a ton of fertilizer so when I have my farm ready, I use the fertilizer, harvest the produce, leave the farm, go back, then keep doing that and just sell produce because that’s the easiest category to do and gets a lot of ryo pretty fast
for reference ,winning 1 chicken race is roughly 70-100 ryo, just for the plates, and still get unused virtue points for material or more plates.
I'm sorry, but farming sucks. You have to do it if you want the platinum and there are some decent materials you get from doing it,
but in terms of getting rich, it's simply not worth it. The amount of labour that goes into it does NOT pay off.
@@SpaceCattttt really? I guess because I kept doing a load of side stuff and kept useing my virtu and maxed almost everything but the virtu stuff farming is just really easy, I’d recommend it if you wanna just farm if you’ve maxed everything in farming but it could also be useful for getting the ryo you need for the chicken race thing that devilleon is talking about
@@SpaceCattttt idk man it's definitely a decent source of passive income, i wouldn't suggest fertilizer though, just fill your entire farm with ginseng so whenever you come back to the house for any reason after doing other stuff in the game, you can sell each one for 2500 mon a pop
definitely not "the best" way to make money in the game but is still very convenient and easy to do, besides once you've done all the other farm related stuff it pretty much serves no purpose anymore anyway aside from that
Smart man I use the ginseng method I created when playing and it the best method for money it take 20 fertilizer to complete but it can be done in 5mins I make 400 ginseng in 30mins and watch the Ryo roll in
I spent an entire night gambling on these damn chicken races but damn it feels good to not worry about money anymore
Does anyone have any tips for quickly gaining xp? The daifuku isn’t too bad, it just takes a while to get a good amount of virtue.
If you're talking leveling styles just get a low dmg weapon and run a high lv dungeon and smack them around for a LONG time... leveling in ishin is super grindy no matter what you do tbh
I've been doing it myself a bit and only on chapter 3, if you have at least 3 ryo to get 300 tags or so that'd be a good start, but yeah you just bet 10 minimum for every combination of the chicken you chose to win, with 10 you get anywhere from 600-900+ tags even on 10 tags bet, and as you get more tags you can slowly bet more and more to where you can bet 100+ and then 300+
Thank you so much! This helped me out tremendously.
So there’s a small hang after clicking ‘Exit Race’, and clicking Exit will give you your tags back instantly. So if you press the back button a couple times after making all your bets, then click Start Race before the screen turns black, your bet goes in, AND you get your tags back. 🗿
I found this way faster than saving and reloading since you don’t need to; you’re betting without risk

Something to note is that while the EXP items are a great way to level your styles, it's absolutely awful for the grey "general" EXP. Each item only gives 3000 EXP, which you can easily get in one or two random fights. For general EXP, you're going to have to go into the dungeons if you want to grind.

Chicken racing is simple in theory, but thanks to the insanely unfair RNG in this game, you can bet on the "obvious winner" 10 times in a row without winning.
Now, I don't know if that's just my personal bad luck or not because all the guides I've looked at make it sound as if winning is "SO EASY" and that you'll
be a billionaire in 10 minutes or less! Well, while I have amassed a 600 Ryo fortune, it took me MANY hours to do so, and considering that some of the
weapons you need to buy in order to 100% this beast cost about 600 Ryo EACH, I honestly don't know how many fucking months it will take of constantly
watching some stupid birds running and then reloading ad infinitum.
None of the other Yakuza games were like this. Jesus Christ!
It's not only you. I've got the same feeling about RNG in this game. It's totally against me.

Chicken Races > Platinum Plates > Cash and Virtue (3:15) > Materials and Experience
Dear god, it's true, I am going to optimize the fun out of this game.
(I will be save scumming this for 3 hours)
One thing worth knowing with the (current) version of the game is that Cho-Han is bugged, it allows you to win when you choose the “Guess both numbers” option while playing so long as the two following are true:
1. Both dice you guess are the same number (1-1, 2-2, 3-3, etc.)
Occasionally it she will throw different numbers than you bet, but its much more consistence in wins then betting on chicken race when you start with small ryo
thanks for the find

basicaly only way this works is doing half of the bets into the last part. then not only do you win but you have to get the bet you placed. simply put spending 80 ryo to get 8k tags to win back 30k tags is no good. with that 30k you have to spend that on plat and get a 3 ryo plate that costs 300 tags, idk seems a bit odd to me how this is working in the end.

You don't ever buy tags again. That's your mistake. You simply win tags up to 12k. Then you can bet 300 on every category. When you exchange for platinum plates you always leave yourself 12k tags and it's all profit. There is no losing money. Only losing tags which you reload if that happens
