We did it fellas, thanks to all the comments that mentioned this bug and to the people that mentioned this on the stream earlier today, you don't have to want to bash your head against the wall after losing the 10th race in a row with the most promising looking chicken. I have the disc version so can't I just cheat by installing the OG game without updates in order to make this work?

I just tried this strategy, and it's great, but I found another way that will make your hands hurt way less: just pick the chicken you think will win and all combinations with it. Sure, this might depend on your instinct, but like Leon said in his money farm video, pick the chicken with ⬆️ and the most circles, and most of the time, it'll work.

This works best for me:
2nd best chicken for Long races.
Chicken with best past record in short races.
Best Chicken (↑ + circles) in medium ones.
Ofcourse doesn't work every time, but I almost exclusively betted on Long Races when I was farming, and got from 13 Ryo to 632 ryo in under 3 hours
This is what I did as well. Now with the new method of not losing your tags, it works even better.

this! I'm too slow to bet on everything so I prefer this method (picking just one or two chickens) combined with the bug. at least I dont have to reload saves when I lose :D

Well, doesn't work now. Next guaranteed farm now is the Sanada Gun Squad which drops top-tier guns which can be sold for tons of money.
Note to future viewers: this was fixed in Patch 1.05 on Steam. You will have to revert to before that to do this. RIP.
If sega ever add's again the Chicken race gambling on another LaD/Judgement game they should add you as a special npc like you know everything related about this minigame

Not working after patch 1.05 unfortunately. Update is good overall, but you might not want to update if you're up for 100% completion since it's a total grindfest. I'm glad they fixed major performance issues and all, but I don't understand why they had to fix chickens if prices aren't going down. I hope they adjust prices a bit or crafting all weapons is gonna be a nightmare.
Hey leon, I watched a video by a japanese youtuber and he seemed to discover how the seal crafting system work.
So instead of relying on probability, the game actually look at how many times you failed to craft a seal.
That why save and load doesn't work, you just reset your failed attempts.
So you can craft a lot of low tier weapons (like keen blade) and count which blade gave you a seal.
e.g. the 10th keen blade gave me the seal, so the 10th item will always give you seal, you can now load your last save, craft 9 keen blades, then craft the weapon with the seal you wish to replicate.
But after some testing, I think I will give up, because the seal they give you is also predetermined. Like if I craft the jelly blade as my 10th item it always gives me an fierce attack seal, if I craft dotanuki it always gives me the guard break seal, if I craft red headband it always give me chain mail seal. So I suppose if you want to replicate a seal you will have to craft like another round of keen blades then see if they decide to give you the seal you want.

Welp, they did it. Those party poopers patched this. Doesn't work anymore.
My suggestions:
Bet on Fowl Temper on Short races,
Bet on Egg Janaika on Long races,
but when Egg Janaika and Broth Baby are on the same race (usually on Long ones), bet on Broth Baby instead

After spending my morning losing bets and spending most of my time reloading, this video is godsend.
This has helped me so much, I don't know how they expected you to be able to be profitable in this mini game in the normal way since its so RNG based. I advise everyone doing this though to save periodically as I just got over 200k tickets and then my game crashed.
If you don't have the 80 Ryo he recommends in the video, I only had 30 Ryo to cash in and I just did the single bets and double bets until I had enough to do the Quintuple ones.
Ive never had a yakuza game crash till this one. Ive had as of today 11 different crashes which has always been painful the worst one being after I finally got my 5th golden medicine case to craft the shogun sword

From what i saw, the thing is that exiting the race will refund all the tags you spent betting. So it's not just "not losing" it's always profit coz you didnt even spend the tags to begin with.

No need for grinding. Just place "single win" bets on all 5 chicken. Start with 10 points per chicken. Then 30, then 50, then 300, then start doing the quinella exacta bets. You don't need to buy 1000 points for 10 Ryo or whatever, just get the lowest amount. You can't lose after all.

@@44bnj when you sell a lot of the silver hammers or platinum plates you get a good amount of virtue. However, I found buying the training daifukus still takes way too long and it's probably better to grind arena. You can get the specific style daifukus though after limit breaking them for quick xp

You can use steam input turbo + cycle binding to do all the betting. Bind a button and put 4 sub commands of a, left dpad, a, down dpad

Also, the money conversion in this game is hella weird. 10 ryo for 1000 tags, but 1500 tags for a platinum plate that sells for 3.75 ryo??

I just tried the trick out, and it actually worked for me! I started with something like 52k tags before I bought all the tickets, then when I tried the trick, I still had those tags and got the additional ones from my guaranteed win! Although my hand was a bit sore, it was worth it!

Yo this is so handy! I kinda modified this and combined it with your first method haha. It gonna takes a bit more time (or maybe not, considering u dont have to bet on everything) but it bypass the hassle of re-loading every time u lose. I love it thank you!

Though Carpal Tunnel developed immensely, it yields usually 18k-35k at max for me, I never got past 50k+ like in your video so not sure what I did wrong
So I didn't show *all* of the betting, but you also want to bet on not only all the quidruple exacta, but also ALL the triple exacta double exacta, quinella and all the racers.
Gotcha, sadly there's not much time for putting bets in all the tabs so I'll just go with the quadruple and triple ones.
Oh, can you please make a short video about all seal effects and their interactions (can you put multiple elemental seals on a sword?), as it would be very beneficial for endgame build planning (for example, never knew that there was a seal that gives bonus damage based on your virtue...)

Holy crap this is going to be very useful to ease the grind for 100% completion.
For PC players I highly recommend using a macro so you dont have to manually place each bet.

I know you probably misspelled it, but I really like calling them “chimkens”; I will use that from now on.
To save your fingers, I'd actually suggest doing the Triple and Doubles and not the QUints. Yes, the Quints pay way more, but you'll get through the betting phase much faster.

Absolutely awesome! I lova Yakuza/Like a dragon-games but the grind is usually too much for me. Will utilize this to lessen the grind load a bit.
If you don't care about winning every time, you could just bet on the chicken you think will win. You can still lose, but you won't have to reload your save either. It might spare your hand a bit with all the betting. :p
This method is a lifesaver as I'm living in a bubble era in the 1860s with all the tickets from chicken races to trade for a platinum plate and good thing Ebisu Pawn won't go out of business for that. Now I just need to know how can I pay Haruka's debt to save her house.

Platinum filings can be found in Mukurogai where you need to play the Gunsman minigame of the canonball from the professor

Can't believe betting on everything was the way to win, lol. I did it the hard way and grinded a million just in chance and spent an entire night racing that way, but that works, appreciate it alot, since I'll probably need to go back and grind since the latter trooper card pulls cost a lot, lol
Betting on everything wouldn't normally work since you'd be spending more tags than you get, but this bug makes it so you spend 0 tags to get all these extra tags

Thank you so much ! I have done a simple macro with the Steam Controller Configuration (couldn't make AutoHotKey to works in the game) and it's perfect, sometimes menu are buggy but my hands don't hurt. 👍
Not sure what I am doing wrong but still loose tags. You bet on as many as you can then BEFORE the count down is done you exit, without leaving the mini race. Then you start the race buy clicking on start race. Not by letting the timer run out . When I do this the tags are gone. When the race is done the tags stay gone. I also see that the game got its last update today March 3, 6am est. Is it patched?

How do you "leave" before you go and start the race? This makes no sense to me. When I click leave he leaves.

@Sepherus I just got the game a few days ago, im assuming its fully updated and still working.
doing this strategy helped me discover and learn how to set macros with my razer mouse, once i got it set up it only takes 20 seconds to go through the entire exacta list lol
If only this worked with real gambling so i could make easy money to pay for my carpel tunnel treatment.
