Wow, Jeff-- you put together probably the best flounder tutorial I've seen yet, and I've watched a bunch. I've caught flounder before, but only by "accident," but now that I'm retired I want to go after them specifically. I can truly say that this video really is true to its title of providing everything anyone needs to know to hit the shore with some confidence. Thank you so much!!!

I love how well you explain these things. Very few others take the time and put the thought into expressing these techniques. I really appreciate that.

You seem really passionate about the artificial vs live thing. Fishing with live bait on flounder is hard, fortunately the bycatch is drum.

Thanks Jeff! WOW! Great info! I moved from TN to N.C. recently and I’m trying to learn as much as I can as fast I can to get out to the Outer banks (4hrs away) but mostly the Wilmington area (only 2 1/2 hrs away). I just bought a Okuma Coronado CDX65 and I’m trying to decide on a rod & how to load mono and braid. In TN, I backwoods camped and fished at LBL, freshwater, easy fishing...big mouth Bass, bluegill & cats off my kayak. I’m ready for salt water! Surf fishing to start. There is SO much to learn. Sadly, it seems being female is a disadvantage because while males get included and invited on fishing trips I’m on my own. I’ll figure out safety issues but picking up tips from videos like yours are invaluable because I have no where else to get the info. Thank so much, I subbed!

Frank Pohl aww TEXAS! I don’t miss the fire ants! Lol Lived in Sugarland and then Kilgore/Longview. No, but you never know where paths will cross. My Mothers terminal illness brought me here (NC) and now life calls again, headed to Ohio of all places. My saltwater lessons will be put on hold for now. But there’s time for one last Oohrah this weekend. Last weekend...stingrays, flounder, croakers and lizard fish on Wrightsville Beach. Let’s we what I pull in next! Not sure where I will go but yes, one more try!

I was reeling in my line with a split shot weight and a hook with a piece of shrimp. Not expecting to catch anything. I was about to cast it in a different spot. Well apparently I caught the attention of a 15 and a half inch flounder. Caught it and took it home. It was an awesome catch!
