I personally couldn't do this because I love fashion so much but I can definitely see why someone like mat could really benefit from wearing the same outfit everyday
I love fashion too, but I'm a huge fan of uniform dressing. Most exceptionally stylish people figure out what suits them best and buy variations on that. I buy like two pairs of jeans a year. Cool boots when I can find something I like in my size. (I'm a guy with 13/14 feet, and like European designer. Sizes that large are rare.) Black tees. Sometimes printed. Usually not. Where I spend like 90%+ of my clothing budget is on great jackets. I stick to black and gray, but I'll go for interesting shapes, interesting cutting, novel materials, embellishment, whatever. Everything works together. I could dress in the dark if I had to. Packing is super easy because I don't have to plan daily outfits. (that I'll inevitably hate on the day) I can just travel with an assortment of things I'll like. Shopping is really easy. (Honestly, if I'm pressed for time, I'll even call the store and just have them pull a rack for me since what I buy is pretty narrow.) I look put together everyday. I love *all* of my clothes. If I want something more experimental it's easy to work in with what I've already got. Uniform dressing is magic. (Having said that, a tee and athletic pants takes the idea way too far for me, but it wouldn't fit into my lifestyle either.)
Same. I feel it actually a bit of joy out of my life to wear the same thing. Some people don't enjoy eating that much and eat the same thing too. To each their own.
Actually you don't love fashion. You just love to show it to people. If everyone would've been vanished from earth except you, you wouldn't be doing the same
I think the take away from videos like this isn’t that everyone should wear the same thing everyday but that we spend too much of our mental energy on things that don’t make us happy. If fashion doesn’t make you happy or causes you stress then just wear the same thing everyday. Our time is limited, focus on the things that bring you the most joy in life
Personally it takes practically no time or energy to pick my outfit for the day. More or less I'll consider what I'm doing that day for a few seconds, and then it's just grab and go from there.
Maybe hes calculated even your FEW seconds per day and just didnt want to... outfits, meals decisions in general can be an annoying task for alot of ppl. Adhd etc yeesh 😅
Exactly.. it's unnecessary.. he is more mentally occupied about his outfit tho😂 he could've gotten different shade of 3 tshirt that instead of having multiple tshirt of same shade.. choosing what to wear for the day is tiresome for him😂
As a lady I don't wear make up I just look after my skin, no acne. I just make sure I brush my hair and I dress for the weather lol. And yes it saves me a lot of time.
Do you notice it as well when you look at men when they look after their skin? I think, subconsciously, men notice when women take care of their skin or use makeup to cover it up. (breakouts and acne during periods seems to be normal) but outside that, I think we notice.
I couldn’t do this 😂 I Love planning my wardrobe and use clothes as a form of expression. But as a lady I’ve simplified to planning my purchases instead of mindlessly shopping. Take inventory of what I have and only introduce things that work with that. So less stress. But I should try this for loungewear
you are literally my inspiration when it comes down to dressing myself, i love minimalism it just looks so classy, i am hitting the gym everyday just waiting to get in shape so one day i can wear all the plain minimalistic clothing
Out of all videos I've seen from you, this is prolly the longest habit I've kept going. I still have mental issues but having a small wardrobe for 3 years has been keeping things simple for me.
I started doing this when I started my dream job as a librarian. I wear black on black, but I always accessorize with earrings. It frees up sooooo much time.
I’d been doing the same thing for years, and always felt self-conscious about it, until I first saw one of your videos a couple of years ago where you mentioned you always wear the same thing. It gave me the confidence to keep doing what I’m doing, so thank you! ❤
Most of my clothing is 95% Black, which saves me from the decision of mixing and matching. I have a few colors but I have to be in the mood for it. So yeah, I can understand and appreciate his wardrobe thought process.
Great videos! Nice, I've been doing the same thing for years. The shocking part, no one cares around me. It's also helped my mental clarity. When I wear something different, it feels like a special occasion.
Honestly, he couldn't have picked a better outfit to wear every day. At least it fits well, great colors, looks good 😃 every time I watch his videos it makes me want to throw out all my stuff lol
Mat, I love you and your content and have watched it for years. So thank you ❤ However, I have to tell you, you can wear whatever feels good to you no matter how diverse and colorful. Why you would take so much time to pick your outfit is because you care what others think about it. I have a completely colorful but small closet, love every piece and it takes me less than half a minute to pick what I wear each day because I just take what I like in that second. It's even a small source of joy sometimes. I think, self-improvement is one side of the coin, self-healing is the other. If you are worried about what others think about what you wear, you should maybe also look at why you would care. That's where you will save time and energy. Cheers mate, lots of love ❤🤗
Wish I could. With the weather being different down here every day and changing drastically during the day (from snow to warm sunshine) I can’t simplify my clauset that much
I just rotate through different shirts for a couple days each. It takes about 5 seconds to find which one I plan to wear, and only buying new clothes when I have to.
I’ve simplified my wardrobe by never buying T-shirts - I do receive them regularly enough as gifts that I can replace worn out ones. I am always wearing the one on the top of the pile with the same two black or dark blue jeans. Buttons up shirts for when I am going out with my wife and all of them look well with the same pants.
@@CameronGillespiee There isnt any point other than "he personally finds benefit in wearing the same outfit almost all the time." If you pick up anything other than "do what you want, but this is what i do" from matts videos then youre missing the point.
exactly. and its called living a life you know, these are the small things that make us happy and by this logic whats the point of any customization in life? just pick the first boring thing and use it lol.
"Things that really matter" differs from person to person. So, for someone in media industry keeping up with the trend really matters. However, i just hopped on on the train you took... so far its a fun ride :)
I have a small wardrobe and some days my body really doesn’t want to wear certain items and most definitely wants to wear one particular combo - it feels right when I put it on according to my inner mood and outer weather. Although I do have seasons where I basically wear the same jeans every day. I like a little variation each season but not a lot🙌🏼
The principle is still the same, just get yourself a matching sweater or zip up hoodie and you’re done. It’s not about dogmatically getting this outfit, but one that suits your environment
Been doing the same thing, for the same reasons, for like almost the same time as you. Now im not cappable of wearing a shirt with a figure or with a big brand logo
Haven't seen y'all in a while but yes, I agree! I don't wear the same everyday but have pretty much the same 1-2 week rotation. And I really don't care what I look like at work 😅
I've been trying to do that forever but getting the high quality stuff is still a bit over my budget and thrifting has been hard, since it requires times for both the thrifting itself and the tailoring of the outfits to make sure I still look presentable. So thinking about outfits really does take a toll on my mental load.
Actually being able to picked different clothes every day give you the muse to be more creative. I dont really agree with these videos that advocate efficiency over everything, robots + ai will always be more efficient than human. Just saying
I love this! And while my closet isn’t all the same identical items, I have loosely set a uniform for myself. I’m a SAHM who works part-time for my boyfriend’s two businesses and depending on which business I’m working on for the day, I will dress accordingly. In no means is this remotely necessary but it helps me to focus on completing the job tasks for that particular business on that day and creates a professional feel on days when I do actually need to see customers. On days when I can focus on being a SAHM, I do not get out of my pjs until necessary so I can cut back on laundry. I can do all my tasks in my pjs because most of the time that consists of comfy shorts and an old tshirt. I wake up dressed and prepared to clean and tackle house duties. And I try to save my errands for days when I’m already out running errands for one of the businesses. My life is still chaotic but this has helped me a lot since quitting my full-time job.
Hawaiian shirt and shorts in the summer, slacks and flannels in the winter, that’s it. Got a shirt for each day of the week for both cold and hot seasons, makes laundry so much easier
It reduces spending on clothes. It also reduces on washing powder. It also reduces on how many washes you need to do. Also, if you keep an unused one nearby, you'll know when to get new ones, as the colors fade too much.
I just buy different colors of a t-shirt I like and have different color pants. Some colors match together so every day is just how you feel like dressing. I think the key is your clothing should be highly compatible and versatile in terms of combinations, so that you shouldn't have to mentally fatigue for it to make sense.
