  • I got a 20T sprocket for the ZA50! I did need to do a little bit of case grinding but it was no big deal!

Hey Corn Ped, I got my engine started Friday night. It ran for a total of 30MIN. I got my crank shaft from treats. It's the $90.00 in stuffed race crank shaft. It ran really good, I used VP110 to prevent pre detination and ran it at 25:1. The crank I have was to be defective. It did not have any oil holes in it and it has about 2mm of slop on each side of the piston. I saw old videos of you and other guys using a drill to time the bike and check for spark. I used my new 12V CDI which is awesome by the way. I got spark but needs times a couple degrees. Other then that I am getting some where, I have the engine dropped and on my bench again to be looked at. My uncle who is a machinist for 350 Chevy V8's will help me out. He has his own race car so I figured if He owns a race car He will be able to help me out... I mean this thing sounds monsterious when running I'm very pleased with how it sounds. I torqued every thing down to what I could with the strength I had. I am very week for some one my age at 24. I have been sick over the last two years and I am still recovering from a body wide sepsis infection. So if you could give me some insight on what I did wrong I would like to know. Looks like I will haft to mix my fuel down more thicker to run better. I also scored my cylinder and new piston as well... I'm not scared to go deeper in to the motor because I am lacking the knowledge, it's more that I am not strong enough to... Because I am weaker I tend to make more mistakes. I used the drill because I do not have the strength in me to continually kick over a bike like this with high compression. So yeah that's my dilemma but I like where it's headed so far. Spark plug is burning a light grey! Plenty of oil in the crank case. Also I pre charged all bearings with oil... The clutch was the first side to blow apart and then the ignition fly wheel fell off. When it ran it ran excellent. I am looking to buy a stuffed crank with two lube holes in it. Do you think that would last longer? I was also using a single ring piston and six port cylinder because I don't have that much strength to press a piston in. I did prep work and checked all my gaps before installing and it was all square. Don't know what I did.

You should also mention that if you put the master clip in backwards people will make fun of you on the Internet which is actually worse than it falling off and recking you.

Just ordered my rear sprocket for the Jawa today. I don’t understand chain sizes or else I woulda ordered one of those too. But I’m dropping teeth so realistically it can wait, I’ll just take out a few links. Also: sporting my new Cornped hat now as of today!

Ok that was in regards to 415 and 420, it seems they interchange pretty much. I’ll just sit over here and keep learning. I still don’t know what that means exactly tho.

420 is more common and usually cheaper. I believe it is slightly wider so you can use it on a 415 sprocket but you might get a little extra wear over time. Thanks for the support man!

      What Cylinder/carb/exhaust are you running?

@Corn-ped treats for the people 70cc, vm18, and estrol side bleed. I think it might be my weight and it needing heavier clutch springs. It was stuck at 39mph no matter what I did until I upgraded the clutches and that's when it topped at 43. So, that's my next try and then it's strip it apart and start over doubling checking every little thing.

It's also got a stuffy crank, those white clutch pucks, and a full set of new seals and bearings.

It should go faster than that. I think your gearing might be too tall. It might be holding you back.

@Corn-ped yeah, I ordered a bunch of different gears and clutch springs should be here today so hopefully I can figure it out.
