When it first opened Cloverdale was a strip mall. but after about 10-15 years it was remodeled as an enclosed mall with a Morgan's department store which became a HBC and then a short-lived Target (all at the end of the mall just past the Service Ontario). In 2020 that space became one of two massive vaccination centres serving Etobicoke. You didn't mention all of the unoccupied space in the mall. Unfortunately the entire mall is going to be redeveloped as a massive condominium complex with some stores and very limited customer parking. The only stores that have significant traffic at this point are the LCBO, Metro, Pharmaplus and, maybe Winners and Home Hardware. The other two large shopping centres in mid-Etobicoke, Six Points Plaza and Humbertown are also both slated to be torn down for condo development as well. The irony is that Honeydale Mall - just south of Cloverdale was closed about ten years ago for Condo development but it has been vacant for ten year
The mall had a burger King in the center of the mall ,before burger king came about. It was taken out in 1976 when the mall became an indoor mall .the sauce and onions were awesome on you hamburger. As well as the soft ice cream was great to.
My daughter's Girl Guides group used to visit Santa at Cloverdale. Sad to see it is being replaced by a bunch of condos (plans are already well under way).
That's what happens when you have no major department stores and it's been left to die for years without every actually trying to make it great again. This used to be a really good mall and I lived close by so it was my main local mall in the 80's and 90's. I would go to Sherway as well especially when going to watch certain movies as back in the day certain movies played at Cineplex which used to be right across the street from Sherway and certain movies played at Famous Players which used to have a go to location right around Cloverdale Mall by the Kipling Subway Westwood Theater. Anyways Cloverdale used to have a Zellers on one end when the lowest price really was the law and there was no Walmart to be found in Canada at the time so it was our main budget department store. Then on the other end of the mall you had a Hudson's Bay. You also had a Bi-Way which is where the Dollarama is now and there was a really good arcade there by the LCBO called Wizards Castle. The Metro which used to be Dominion was always there as was the Home Hardware which today is actually the best store in Cloverdale because they have really low prices on candies and snacks from the U.S. which is the only Home Hardware location I know that actually does that. The Laura Secord was also always pretty much there. They used to have a decent food court with a KFC and A&W along with a Manchu Wok. But the KFC closed a few years ago. I remember they used to also have a Grenada where you could rent tv's and other electronics and they always had free popcorn that customers could help themselves to and you could always smell it which is what attracted customers in just like Jumbo Video used to do. Winners is the only major store now. Not to mention there used to be a Wool-CO right across the street at Honeydale Mall that had a No Frills and Golden Griddle in it and a Mother's Pizza outside the mall where the Rockpile is now. Before Rockpile there was a Lonestar Cafe and before that a Bert & Ernies restaurant all that replaced Mother's Pizza. You also had a Canadian Tire next to the mall and up the street by Kipling Subway you had Six Points Plaza which is still there but it's a shell of what it used to be as there used to be a Consumers Distribution and you also had Apache Burgers and Red Cabin Burgers right around there. After Wool-Co closed Walmart replaced it which was good as well for awhile but then Walmart left and Honeydale Mall only had No Frills to where that ultimately closed and the whole mall has been left do die for Condos. Just like the old Canadian Tire which closed years ago but they just recently in the last few years started construction for condos. Then directly across the street from Cloverdale there used to be a Kelseys when Kelseys was really good and there was a Harvey's, 2-4-1 Pizza, and Subway along with a Conveince store. All those restaurants are long gone. So the whole area has become a ghost town kind of like most the malls in Buffalo where even back in late 90's Buffalo had a lot of strip malls that had a whole bunch of stores that would be closed and only about 3 stores open. There going to eventually knock down Cloverdale Mall and build a new mall but it will probably be a more ritzy mall to accommodate all the condominiums. It's just sad all the old areas and stores, businesses etc. Are losing their identies.
The mall is pretty dead now, when we moved in, in 1962 , my parents shopped at the dominion store, and Morgan's which later became the bay and later a target. When i was 17 in 1974 i worked at the dominion store which moved over to the side of the mall and now is a metro store.. the used to be extremely busy . It had several good stores in 1976 it became an enclosed mall . The popular stores it had at one time were united cigar store, several shoe stores, a shoe repair store romano and Bonito owned it. They had a kresges store, dominion, the bay, ackinheads hardware , a Firestone auto repair. And a Milwaukee sporting goods store a grand and toy store , a bakery , a jbs big boy restaurant. A music world . The mall originally opened the year i was born 1957.
One of the original larger shopping malls opened in the Toronto Area back in the 1950s. My sisters and my Mom were there on that opening day awayyyyyy back when. Originally a fully outdoor plaza that was converted to a closed indoor mall in the late 60s if memory serves me right. You’re correct. Condos and office buildings are due to take over the property in the not too distant future.

Thanks for watching, and sharing the information
ive lived in canada all my life, almost 40 years, and i don't think i've ever seen a Home Hardware inside of a mall
Used to go there in the early 80's with my Gran who lived near Islington Subway.
My daughter's Girl Guides group used to visit Santa at Cloverdale. Sad to see it is being replaced by a bunch of condos (plans are already well under way).

And I forgot an lcbo store.
You should go to Shoppers World in Brampton
Used to be pretty busy back in 2000 ish. I think in 5 years all malls will be closed, sadly.
Most of them. A few of the high end malls will make it (I think) but anything middle to lower tier is doomed.
It's a dead mall !
Yep it sure is I did a video there on their anniversary no celebration lol
