Baritone Stephen Powell sings "Libera me" from Faure's Requiem with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, October 22, 2006. Conducted by Craig Jessop, from "Music and the Spoken Word", Broadcast #4025
I just saw/heard this for the first time. I'm totally blown away! I worked as a professional classical musician for many years and am extremely picky about voices and singing style and quality, BUT this voice fits this piece perfectly in every way. If everything Mr. Powell does is as fantastic as this, I would love to hear more of him.
They don't know ho to do it anymore! This is the best version of the Libera tha i ever heard. This bass baritone has one of the best voices i ever heard!!
for me the best version of this magnificent piece of which I have the honour of performing the Baritone solos this coming Saturday 2nd March 2014 in Guernsey. Thank you for sharing
That's all? You were just warming us up--where's the rest of it?! You're terrific, but the saying "Leave 'em wanting more" doesn't mean stop after the first third! Deliver, baby--please post the rest of this! "Cruelly incomplete," the other reviewer said, and he or she was RIGHT!
Perfect! I only wish the complete work were here!
uno dei mieglior baritoni che abbia mai sentito!
I sang this Requiem with my college choir over 32 years ago. It all came back to me including the Latin.

What a voice!!!... this should be a reference for what a baritone should sounds like. Bravissimo!
This is the very best rendition. Best tempo. Bang on the pitch and no climbing up and down. I can listen to this over and over again. It's perfect.

Great job Stephen. I am so happy that I actually have met you in LA and realized you were the guy from my favorite YT Libera Me. :)
He sings with spin!!! The old way. Wow. No one has the courage to do this today. Wonderful.
What is spin?

esta versión es la más clara y bonita, quizás por la calidad de grabación.
My mum likes this video
incomplete but what a good voice! Can imagine him singing lighter stuff too.
Very nice, thanks. But what about the other two thirds of the piece? This is cruelly incomplete.

No horn section! This is a crime.
@stephenpowellbariton I would like to use this recording in a video I am planning, as the end soundtrack. Can I have your permission, please?
This recording is under copyright of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REST OF IT???
I agree: I want more!!!! : ))
超天元突破ギガドリルブレイク!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I personally prefer it with less legato, to go with the punch and suspense in the orchestra, but regal of a singer... Yammmeh
chest voice
