Chris sounds like a shmuck... 😂 Ark replied and said they would get a new thumb bar and screws sent out. I have yet to see it but will update this comment if that changes. I've been happy with mine and have my eye on another G5 or a G7. Removing the side plate is definitely a task. Great overview fella!!
Appreciate the review of the ark reel. I am not ready to try ark or the seviin just yet, but look forward to seeing Ark against Shimano/Daiwa/Abu. Great stuff Debo!
I’ve been super happy with my gravity reels even the BFS one is pretty damn good. I have quite a few arc rods now from the Cobb series to the upper end and a few other Tharps the reels were designed by ARK and produced by Haibo with an agreement that they can sell them as Haibo overseas and they are gravity in the states. Good quality reels and they make great rods and I’ve had nothing but great customer service sometimes you never know.
I have the Ark Gravity 7. No issues thus far and smooth as butter. It would take a lot to overtake my Daiwa Zillions but man it's up there and I enjoy it just as much without a doubt.
Love the different speeds! This looks a reel you can have your whole arsenal the same reel. My dad is like that he wants to pick up everything and it feel the same. Seems like a nice reel to do that with.
Good video Debo, kind of break adjustment is like the bos pro qulifer 2 reel the handles knob reminded me of the old diawa exceler reel from the early 2010s👍
I use to try different reels but always find myself reaching for and buying my diawa and Shimano’s. Only different reel I’m thinking of trying is Bates
I love my Gravity 5. No issues once I got it dialed in. I am a fan of the Lews Winn grip handles/knobs so I swapped the handle but otherwise it's been money. Nice review! 👍🏾
Had a bad experience with Arks' service as well. Had a winding check come lose on a beand new rod. Took a long time, they fixed it, kind of shotty work too. What really blew me away is that they commented on how well i took care of the rod. When it was sent back they just put in the tube lose and supported, they did staple carboard over the top, but thats it. By the time it got back to me inserts had been knocked out and blank was scuffed. I reached out and they said they would cover shiping to them, but after waiting 6 months for the first bad experience, i wasnt about to do it again. Its to be expected that QC wont be great on Chinas side, but sendingba rod back like that takes impresive negligence.
NEVER bought or tried an Ark reel Bought i just recently purchased the Bassinator elite reel by Kastking. It also has a retail value of $179.99 I have been looking at it for a couple years and finally pulled the trigger on it when it went on sale $91.80 final cost , I couldn't pass at that price . Living in Iowa like you I haven't had a chance to use it as of yet Maybe tomorrow Enjoy your videos and reviews not so much all the dinks You should come to my part of Iowa 5 -8 lbs all day 😅😅
Not sure about the extra distance between the body of the reel and the handle, but would have to have it in hand to truly see if it makes a difference. Thanks for the vid!
Have you tried a Bates baitcaster yet? Frames are machined from a solid block of aluminum and not cast in a mold. They claim they’re more sensitive but that seems like that wouldn’t make much difference.
Hey brother I got a question for you,do you have quantum baitcaster in your collection? And what’s your opinion on those awesome videos btw I learned a lot
I’d have a tough time ordering an off brand for close to the same price as Shimano or Diawa. Take the S SLX MGL 70 for instance, being clearanced for $112 from $150. Plus new model is still $150. Can’t imagine this reel is as good or as good of service 🤷♂️ Many other examples as well, Tat 150 etc. Appreciate your videos!
Seams like all the reels i don't like are still really good reels. They just don't fit in my hand the way i like. I haven't bought anything yet that stood out as straight-up garbage in any price point. The more i buy, the more it seems like it's all just personal preference. I feel like it really just comes down to casting, fit in hand, and spool and drag smoothness.
Seems like a solid reel with the exception of how far the reel handle sticks out, but it may feel good. I doubt I'll ever pick it up though, kind of becoming a daiwa fan boy and for the price I could try the zillion.
It isn't new, it's a slightly dumbed down version of the Shimano FTB system. The Shimano version allows the spool inductor to be pulled out by the spool speed dynamically, where Haibo (the OEM of this reel) used the spring loaded cup with roman numerals. I have the Haibo Arise Air, and I love it. It's a solid reel.
That looks like a nice Reel but way outta my Wheelhouse lol and I can’t see any Reel being more smooth than a Shimano but I’ve only had 2 and both well under 180 bucks. I did like the skipping like a Boss my friend right on.
I love when new companies jump up to make new reels. I have a ton of reels and tbh I don’t have a single favorite. I do think shimano has priced out everyone else with their SLX line now but tbh I have reels from 13 fishing, abu Garcia, shimano, diawa, and Lews and I love them all minus the Lews. I don’t think Lews makes bad reels but for the prices I think all of those other brands I names are better. Tbh I think the SLX line has everything you’d ever need and for an affordable price. Their not like my metanium or my zillion but for the price they can’t be beat.
You can’t beat shimano reels. I don’t think anyone will be able to make anything close to it. Ark looks like try are trying to do that. I picked up a 200$ lews reel, I put it back down and bought the slx. The 200$ lews felt like a toy. 😂
It doesn't really sound like Ark wants to be the Nordstroms of the fishing world, for those not familar with Nordstroms, they once took in a set of 4 tires that someone returned, thing was, they sell clothing !🤣 Hard to beat that eh Ark ?
For the amount that you’re paying for that reel , and with that type of customer service .. wouldn’t do business with them , let alone recommend their products .. I rather go with some cheap China knock off reel ..
WELL, WTH Is the reels usable weight range / adjustability WITHOUT TAKING THE REEL APART !! Seems like an obvious question to me,Especially someone who's REVIEWING a reel. 🤔😏.

Are you referring to yourself? 😂
@@tims_always_fishing7117 it's possible.
@tims_always_fishing7117 you don't understand sarcasm unless they put an "lol" after it do you?
@@NStone90 it started a conversation, you just had to be a smart ass.
@@tims_always_fishing7117 no. It started one response. If you don't get sarcasm, just say so.
Appreciate the review of the ark reel. I am not ready to try ark or the seviin just yet, but look forward to seeing Ark against Shimano/Daiwa/Abu. Great stuff Debo!
Great review. That braking system looks sweet. I’d prefer that over the locking pegs of the centrifugal brakes in the abu reels.

I’ve definitely been eyeballing the 5 speed for my big deeper diving cranks. 🤔 Great review my guy! It’s almost feeshin’ time!
Looks like a solid reel. Not sure I would buy one. Thanks for another great reel review Debo.
I have the gravity 5 on a Tharp B-Hittay rod as my dedicated chatterbait combo and it’s one of my favorite reels
Seems nice! I have tried a lot of different reels and the ones I come back to are the Shimano SLX XT’s and Daiwa Tatula 100’s.
I agree with you on liking the more muted colors. I don't like those bright colors on reels or rods.
Good video Debo, kind of break adjustment is like the bos pro qulifer 2 reel the handles knob reminded me of the old diawa exceler reel from the early 2010s👍
The Reel Box Wall is growing immensely Lol..!!!
Great video I have been very curious about the Ark reels. I think it may be a reel I would try.
I'm looking forward to seeing what the new SLX has

I like some of these innovations!
You didnt have that much luck with the Ark rods tho Debo. 😂 you stepped on it.
Well that was the other one 🤣

I've had a number of folks ask about them. I haven't grabbed one yet. Hmm, interesting to say that it would make it more sensitive
Nice review on a brand I am not familiar with, might have to give them a try. Go Hawkeyes! Go Caitlin Clark!
I have half a dozen of the Gravity 5. I love them. Gravity 8’s are the future purchases.
Hey brother I got a question for you,do you have quantum baitcaster in your collection? And what’s your opinion on those awesome videos btw I learned a lot

Hibernation is almost over Debo. Sharpen those clippers.
I favor any company that release a new dynamic braking system.

I have the Haibo Arise Air, and I love it. It's a solid reel.
The way to pop off the side plates more easily on some reals is to hold the spool and use it to pop the side plate off.
I see these are on sale on TW 25% off I won a ark gravity 7 from Omnia last year yes very tricky to set up
if it's hard to dial in it'll be a perfect reel to compare to the shimano curado😂
That looks like a nice Reel but way outta my Wheelhouse lol and I can’t see any Reel being more smooth than a Shimano but I’ve only had 2 and both well under 180 bucks. I did like the skipping like a Boss my friend right on.
Ya this reel sounds like a bust big time.
do you have to have the spool out to set the brakes? thanks for the great review.
No. You can adjust it without removing the spool.
@@Liz_Zervosare you sponsored by Ark or just not a shimano/daiwa fan?
@@tims_always_fishing7117 Not sponsored by Ark. I just like the reels. I also throw Daiwa.
Heck yeah price battles!

I appreciate the review Debo. That reel is not for me. These videos help me decide. ✌️🎣
Unreal that they only offered to send you tips for the defective rods. That’s enough of a reason for me to stay far away.

Tackle warehouse just marked all these reels down.
That handle does seem to stick out a bit! I'm sure you get used to it!
Nice reel but when your on a budget the price isn't for me
